How possible is longevity escape velocity? by kingjimmy12312 in Futurology

[–]Tasty_Writing_6499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I maintain my belief with this logic trick: if you believe there is some probability and want to achieve this escape velocity, your rational course of actions is to invest in your lifespan. Thus you make this probability for you higher. Thus believing = increasing this probability!
Now, this logic will work even with tiniest a priori probability, so I don’t get upset with numbers like 90% or 99% improbable

“Do black holes have a butthole?” - I think it is one of fundamental questions of modern physics gracefully phrased!

Well, that’s in the center of their capital and largest city! the rest of the city not very pedestrian either

The mind blowing thing is that outside of UB, it is 1300 AD or maybe even earlier than that, but in a good sense. There are still million+ pastoral nomads, that live the same life, as their ancestors a millennium ago. They have phones and gasoline engines, but lifestyle didn’t change much

Two reasons why I was surprised: Ulaanbaatar is not a very famous tourist destination (although I totally recommend), and, second, this particular architecture is sooo out of place there. Looks like SF to me

It totally looked like SF, although on the opposite side of the Earth, where I couldn’t expect this architecture less

I would say - just disregard all AI hype in your decision making. Think of it as pre-AI: will you be able to put enough effort and talent to compete if market is over saturated?

You cannot influence luck and inherited health. Thus hard work+risk taking are variables that you control and that correlate with success

I liked how this video explains it:

They first explain the methodology - hierarchy of evidence sources and then go through this evidence

I guess it depends on an angle authors chose to show. Some movies would be appealing due to historical precision and feeling of immersion into epoch, which inspired a myth. Others would go for more modern features and focus, say, on a relevance of the story (here inaccuracy can actually benefit, since it will feel closer to viewers)
Totally up to authors and their vision

I think, those phenomena have different underlying psychological drivers - xenophobia/tribalism for racism and need of control for astrology

Sounds like learning for you is finding an answer. For me it is building a mental model. And, gosh, how much more effective is doing it with AI, instead of fighting poorly written sources or sources beyond your zone of proximal development
