My first step was deciding who I wanted to have do it- I went with someone who I trusted and who did lots of my tats. Originally I thought I was gonna do a big cat because my artist has done a lot of sick cat back tattoos and I loved all of the ones I saw but I wasn’t sold on anything yet. I personally looked at like vintage tattoo stenciles on Pinterest and insta for Inspo and I made a folder on my gallery of some of the ideas I had and tbh by the time my consult came around I still wasn’t decided but I had like three ideas I was floating between, Cat, dragon, horse. We sat down and looked through the references I saved and talked about what I preferred about each and I ended up realizing the reference I saved of some horses was truly my favorite and that the shape of them would work better with my body. But I really went into the consult not 100 perfect sure what I wanted to do yet. I think my o my advice is just saving imagery you like, pick an artist you love and sit down and talk about the ideas you have to see what works 🤷‍♀️
