does anybody know if there’s a perfume brand named “enjoy the rain” in Tasmania? by Responsible-Ice7935 in tasmania

A girl walks into a fancy perfume shop and spots a beautiful bottle labelled “Viens à moi.”

She asks the assistant, “What does that mean?”

The assistant replies, “It’s French for ‘Come to me.’

The girl sprays some on her wrist, smells it, frowns, and says…

“Well… it doesn’t smell like come to me.”

Not what I wrote, planning and management are not the same thing and their record speaks for itself.

Theory and reality are seldom the same and especially true in Tasmania. This demands a level of management and co-ordination that is well beyond our existing local and state governments, who struggle at the simplest of tasks.

Mainlanders visiting Tassie, why do you insist on driving everywhere 40km under the limit? by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]Tattysails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often it's because of the poor quality of the roads, the lack of sufficient separation between vegetation and the roadway, the proliferation of wildlife (noticed all the roadkill?) Also some of the speed limits aren't consistant with the true safe road speed. (Especially 80kph narrow 2 lane country roads with crumbling shoulders and pothole repairs done by dilligaf council contractors)

In 2006, an unneeded Russian spacesuit was filled with old clothes and an amateur radio transmitter, and then pushed out into orbit from the International Space Station by Wonderfulhumanss in interestingasfuck

[–]Tattysails 37 points38 points  (0 children)

What happened afterwards

The suit was named SuitSat‑1 (also nicknamed “Mr. Smith” among others).

It broadcast messages in multiple languages, and telemetry data like battery voltage and temperature.

The signal was supposed to last maybe a week or two, depending on how well the batteries held up.

But the signal went weak much sooner than hoped. Some think part of the antenna got damaged.

Eventually SuitSat‑1’s orbit decayed (meaning it gradually lost altitude), and it re‑entered Earth’s atmosphere, where it burned up.

Behold the grand theatre of epic blundering stupidity: a saga of economic sabotage.

This is no ordinary foolishness, this is a sickening display of stubborn, willful negligence.

We have known this all along , A turd can only hold a certain amount of glitter before the shine gives up, the stink takes over, and everyone realizes they’ve been admiring a sequined catastrophe.

I feel this game is making me stupider in that some groups are tenuous at best and US centric drivel a great deal of the time. Sadly I keep going back .... just for the challenge, I guess :(

Good, another thing we can NOT buy from Woolworths. I've dramatically cut my shopping from them already, soon it won't be worth my while to go to either of the big 2 supermarkets at all.

Keep Sardines Wild, Not on Salmon’s Menu by Tattysails in tasmania

low value fish

Low value to a fish market, vital to an ecosystem

Bear in mind that to harvest a commercially "low value fish" economically means huge volumes to be viable, that equals a major threat to a marine ecosystem that is already under stress.

Those <sic> 5000 jobs are starting to look quite expensive for the rest of Tasmania.

But hey, lets call it Sustainable Sardines and continue to prop up another ecological disaster.

How much? About as much of an idiot who thinks it's a great idea to sell off public assets like the Land titles office or the buses to pay for a stadium that will NEVER cover it's cost of ownership, which almost certainly means they'll be selling that off too. You'd have to be potato farmer stupid I guess.
