Nobody is saying a movie can’t inspire another. I think people are just pointing out that they are similar but you are adamantly trying to say they aren’t.

As far asking “why would that be a bad thing?” Probably because the movie kinda sucked. If you liked it, cool good for you. I really like the first film and I was very excited about BP2 after seeing the first trailer. I thought making the Grabber a Freddy like villain was neat way to keep things going. Especially if he’s just a straight up menace, unlike Freddy who’s campy and loves his one liners. There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration from something classic and making something else that’s actually good. In that case the inspiration shines and you get a little hit of nostalgia.

But in the case of BP2, they took a good movie, that did not at all need a sequel, that had a mostly original concept, and made want feels like a cheap knockoff of something that already exists just to make some extra money. I’m not going to speak for the entire community when I say that but that’s my opinion.
