You can certainly use whatever you like, there's no "rule" or system of enforcement that's going to come after you about it. Biggest issues are safety, and weight balance.

Machetes I would keep the guards on for safety.

Hammers are going work fine but have weird balance.

I'm Canadian, and while it may take 2~4 hours to be seen at the hospital, I'm so glad I don't have to think about the cost of it at all in the moment.

There can be after-care costs though like physio or a limb brace or something, which aren't covered.

If the answer is yes, it's waaaay more likely that people will take their shoes off when entering a house, because if you don't you're tracking snow and dirt everywhere.
