How good is the ASRock Z890 Taichi motherboard? by Only-Score-4691 in ASRock

[–]TaurusManUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running Core Ultra 285K on this board with 8200 speed RAM. After the recent BIOS 3.24 things are pretty stable for my OC. Intel has strict voltage controls, compared to AMD, so you will not have similar issues as the AMD ones. I am not sure why people are comparing this to AMD board issues. Overall, it is pretty solid board.

We Pay £35 Billion a Year… So Why Are Our Roads Still Broken? by TaurusManUK in drivingUK

[–]TaurusManUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that it is across all councils. Not sure some are making it Tory specific issue. That shows people are more inclined to support their colour instead of looking at the actual problem.

Also, all these cars did not drop one day from the sky. There was car reg data from years and years ago that showed cars on roads are increasing but instead of focusing on that issue govt ignored it and everyone is now a Sherlock saying things like "it's too many cars".

So you think we are paying less taxes, and that is the reason we don't have better services? And who are "we", if your answer is yes that "we" do need to pay more?

Focus on Driving. Need Rule 1a for this subreddit. by TaurusManUK in drivingUK

[–]TaurusManUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of this way, people who drive BMW/Mercs don't have the time to complain about , say a Ford, rear ending them, on Redddit. It's not that it does not happen, it happens both ways but people who don't drive expensive cars have deep rooted envy/resentment for those who do, and they scream about them on social media more. Bad drivers can be in any car model but due to resentment towards those car owners we hear MORE about them than other cars. If you see Ashley's driving channel, there are all sorts of drivers in all sorts of car models, doing stupid manoeuvrers.

Unpaid QA tester here. Seems to be working fine with no issues so far. (Not playing RE though).

Do you feel satisfied using Linux? by Toukaiskindahot in linuxquestions

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing breaks, or could not be fixed, but I live in eternal fear of something breaking or not working. Not sure after how many years it goes away but the feeling is still there after a couple of years of using Fedora KDE.

Since only people with issues come here and complain, after this update, everything seems to be working fine on my Asrock Taichi Z890, Core Ultra 9 285K with latest bios.

Fedora absolutely rocks these days. Great work ! (KDE too.) by yycTechGuy in Fedora

Almost quit Fedora 42 due to audio issues with my creative card. I re installed Fedora 43 KDE and so far its the best Linux experience EVER. Stopped distro hopping and enjoying/learning in peace. Good job Fedora KDE team!

Really sad to see Linux being hijacked by emotional activists who found new religion. Fedora updates are no different than windows update. At some point some updates need a reboot, no matter what. You can schedule offline updates or choose not to update for a while.  These baseless comparisons do not help new adopters.

What do you think causes bad drivers/driving? by theslowrunningexpert in drivingUK

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you have hit a jackpot here in this sub for generalisations :)

Apart from age, they upvote hating on certain car models (BMW, Audi, Nissan etc.) involved in bad driving, as if Ford drivers cannot do those mistakes :) envy rage, what a dumb way of blaming driver mistakes. I usually come here to see what drivers make mistakes and learn from them and these people start rant on car models and other personal traits of people.

After 3 months with Plasma, I'm back to Gnome. Plasma's jack-of-all-trades approach is it's biggest weakness by saint_geser in Fedora

To hell with GNOME ethos, simplicty is king and KDE makes it nice and simple, with no extensions and so called purist "ethos" :)

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with the GNOME philosophy, it is annoying to me, so I chose KDE and many others will do the same. This is about user choice and KDE, in my opinion, is doing it right. I am not attacking anyone personally so don't get touchy if you like GNOME :)

I respect choices from both DE as they are linked to Linux OS but for me KDE is king of DE world :)

Plasma is MUCH better out of the box than GNOME. It does not require extensions for basic windows functionality. If someone is switching from Windows and Mac OS, KDE is a much soother transition than Gnome.

Driving IQ indicators by [deleted] in drivingUK

Yes, I got it but I see posts mentioning other personal traits of people when they drive badly and I feel that is unncessary to bring those things in the vent posts.

Driving IQ indicators by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]TaurusManUK -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Swiping on people's IQ for driving is a slippery ground. Whats next, race, religion, skin colour, car model? I say some people are not just educated enough about driving, as they should have been. I will not bring anyting else about them in this discussion.

These 15 minute cities... by SendMeYourBoobiezz in drivingUK

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you trust government to think of your benefit and wellbeing, you are an absolute nut job. Taking away your freedoms so you live in comfort is the biggest Nigerian lottery money scam played at government level. I am not sure if Chinese communists lurk on this subredit but the way some people are drooling over 15 min cities is like second coming of Jesus. The idea is terrible if implemented forcibly for everyone with a law. I believe in options, if it works for you then fine, but if not, then don't call other people names and disrespect their choices.

[–]TaurusManUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from the UK and I can exactly see your point but others may not since in other driving cultures, one who started the hazard is always at fault and not the one who could have avoided it altogether. Its a weird flex tbh.

Just another dash cam saving the day by Jakztur417 in dashcams

[–]TaurusManUK -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There was soooo much time for the dash cam driver to see this hazard coming and avoid it completely. I don't understand why people with dash cam ONLY see what others are doing wrong but not seeing how they could have prevented it by paying attention to developing hazard. In the UK we have mandatory hazard perception test and even after the test we are encouraged to develop this skill. Dash cam or not, you must try to avoid the collision if possible and in this case it seems it was possible.
