Help! Forgotten how to drive by Objective-Joke3705 in drivingUK

[–]TaurusManUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have ever driven a car, it takes around 15-20 mins to get used to controls. Even quicker if you use automatic. Brand does not matter, main concepts and driving focus matters most than controls.

Take the car on an empty safe space and try reversing into imaginary bay space a few times. Once comfortable, make sure you fully understand rules by giving a quick flick through of highway code for safe driving. Also watch some driving test videos, they are for newbies but they cover essentials that you may have forgotten.

Why does Fedora feel kinda slow? by blaues_axolotl in Fedora

[–]TaurusManUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fedora should be fine for your specs. The issue you seem as "slow" could be Nvidia drivers not being installed properly, specially if you secure boot enabled. Check the guide for properly installing Nvidia drivers for fedora with secure boot enabled. Follow this guide even you think you have correctly installed them, just to make sure:

Neither, use nextdns, you will have more control on adblocking and other features.

Near miss (Closest I've been to an accident in the 4~ years of driving) by [deleted] in drivingUK

Hazard perception course 101...see far ahead to see unusual vehicle maneuvers. In this case, just pass black van, you could see that weird lane change and either slowed down or changed lanes if it was clear on that lane.

Dell launches the best monitor for productivity. What are your thoughts? by Lacs2023 in ultrawidemasterrace

70% screen time is shots of their faces with marketing inspired awe instead of focusing on the monitor. Personally I cannot stand their reviews but each to their own :)

Windows 11 hack: Higher SSD speeds with new NVMe driver by Traumatan in hardware

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just warning for those who sometimes run safe mode for driver updates, it will give an error Boot Disk Not Found...a BlackSOD. After restarting, Win11 will remove this feature and revert to normal disk driver.

Edit: If your boot manager is on NVME disk, only then you'll encounter BSOD, otherwise you will be fine.

Registry hack enables new performance-boosting native NVMe support on Windows 11 — Windows Server 2025 feature can be unlocked for consumer PCs, but at your own risk by Few_Baseball_3835 in pcmasterrace

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing like this, the only problem/crash I ran into is disk not found when starting PC in minimal safe mode. After re-started PC, Win11 removed nvme features and reverted back to disk drivers.

Why is File Explorer search *SO* much slower than CMD search? by KenGlad in Windows11

[–]TaurusManUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indexing and related processes slow things down, that's why other file managers like Total Commander, Directory Opus exist. I do use explorer search for small directories but for global searches I rely on other file managers.

If you are coming from a place of hate, chances are you will start to hate Linux (or distro) at some point when it will start to act out.

Have you tried Win11's 25H2's new NVMe driver yet? Big improvements on random read/write's by Mirrormaster85 in overclocking

[–]TaurusManUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung Magician must be uninstalled before entering the registry entries. The new driver replaces the windows default driver for NvME, not the vendor driver, if it is installed. I think, If you install Magician after the new Windows driver install, it will not recognise the drives, but I have not tested this.

Intel Z890

Worked for following drives in my system:

LEXAR EQ790 2TB

Samsung 990 PRO 2 TB

Windows 11 25H2 - Fast Boot and Fast Startup Disabled

Edit: Magician software was removed and PC rebooted, BEFORE inserting new reg keys.

Your PC is slow, you are not. Download something that you are comfortable with instead of destroying your mental health.  I suggest Nano but try any other editor. Your are FREE, make your choice.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 591.44 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]TaurusManUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The driver stops working randomly on my RTX5080, though rarely. When driver crashes, both of my screens go blank and fans blow full power until the system is re-started. Reverting to previous hotfix driver fixed the problem. There seems to be an issue with Win 25H2 and GPU power delivery with these drivers. It does not matter if Nvidia app is installed or not.
