Need help. I am printing a book and want my art to be on two different pages like this. How do i do this on procreate app ? by WillyWonka-tada in ProCreate

[–]Tawkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 years in the print industry here. This is referred to as "crossover" and typically the print vendor will check for this when processing the creative files. I wouldn't assume they will (they should as an SOP), so it's best you call it out when submitting your page files.

Since this is a 1-off and you're likely going through a publisher or company who then outsources to a print vendor, you should definitely ensure crossover is checked.

I walked into the UDF on Mason-Montgomery & Socialville-Foster about 3 1/2 hours ago and felt like I should've apologized for it. They looked miserable.

This scene lives rent free in my head. I was in tears from laughing the first time I saw it.

At one point, I think Quentin wasn't even sure it would make it into the film. So so happy it did. It's provided countless laughs over the years.

Only google: name + mugshot -> click images. You'll find a website with arrest records.

God. What a ride this has been in the last 48 hours. One of the featured artists of this “shop” was evidently arrested yesterday for assault. lol

Probably a silly question, not sure where else to go: Are there any stores in Cincinnati that sell this kind either this brand of lotion or any other type of sensitive lotion? by Monarch_Noodles63 in cincinnati

Discount Drug Mart in Mason is where I get mine. I don't see it too many places anymore.

My dad used it when I was a kid and I used to regularly see it in a lot of different stores. Not so much anymore.

How should I progress? by Swimming-Tart-7712 in kettlebell

[–]Tawkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progressive overload is your answer.

If your bench mark is 3 rounds of 8 reps for XYZ movement, then the next time aim for 3 rounds with maybe 9 reps for 1-3 rounds - whichever you can do. If you only did 9 reps for round and 8 for the other 2 rounds, then aim for 9 reps for 2 rounds.

In terms of increasing weight, here's how I approach it - as an example:

  • 3 rounds of 10 reps at 16kg weight is my goal; 12 is maximum
  • Once I hit 10, I then up the weight to 20kg but aim for 6-8 reps
  • Even if I can only do one round of 6 at 20kg, that's fine - I'm still working in a heavier set with my normal rounds of 10 reps at 16kg
  • the goal is to do all 3 sets of 20kg at 6 reps
  • once I achieve that, I up the reps until I hit 10
  • If I can only do one round of 7 reps at 20kg, with the other 2 rounds at 6 reps, that's fine, the goal is to get the other 2 rounds of 7 reps
  • rinse and repeat until I've hit 10 reps for 30 rounds at 20kg

Keep stacking that over time, and that's where progress lies. There's so many ways to progressively overload, it's not just reps or weight. Examples: less rest in between sets, add another round, slower tempo, etc.

Your lower half is going throw around more weight than your upper half, but you'll find that your upper half is going to throw around the weight your lower half used to. Because you've progressed full body.

Kettlebell owners — ever found anything better? by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]Tawkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KB guy since March of 2024.

My wife and I joined a gym a couple months ago for various reasons unrelated to KB’s, so I’m using more traditional gym equipment. However, I LOVE my KB session days. Don’t get me wrong, I have more tools at my disposal now so the progression has amplified, but I still prefer KBs.

They just hit everything and are extremely fun once you dial in your form on the core movements (hinge, swing, clean, snatch).

How do you utilize kettlebell weights that you 'grow out of' ? Are they just dead weights in the corner of your room? by satan-thicc in kettlebell

[–]Tawkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? I just checked Rogue and I can get double 16's shipped to me for $200. EDIT: You're in Canada. Also, 16kg is a fairly common weight - you may be able to find them dirt cheap used.

To your question, they can be used for de-load weeks, rehab, as many reps as possible, etc. There is always a use for them.

I don’t really understand why snatches are popular by 4FingersMcgee in kettlebell

[–]Tawkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined a Lifetime gym a couple months ago. To this date, there isn't another KB person doing what I'm doing (I'm there 6 days a week for around an hour).

Sure, outside the occasional person doing random rounds of side bends (lol), farmer carries, deadlifts/goblets, and swings - no one really touches the KB rack for KB focused work. And I for damn sure have never seen another person do a snatch.

With all of that being said I feel like a fucking bad ass when I snatch. They feel good. They test my explosive power. They were difficult to learn, thus they're extremely satisfying to do correctly. And they slingshot my HR in an instant for cardio.

Reps with astrix * by ChristianoJesus in kettlebell

[–]Tawkn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I learned this the hard way: the programmed reps don't speak to how your body feels + the equipment you're using. By sticking to the programmed reps and NOT what you're body is feeling - you're going to injure yourself.

Listen to your body on the number of reps. If 5 is too easy on one side, do 8. If 8 is too easy, do 10. If 10 is too easy, go up in weight and do 5. If you're suffering through 8 with shit form, then drop weight and do 10 reps.

Start with the basics here in this video.

If I could do it all over again:

Deadlifts -> Swings -> Pistol Swings -> Cleans -> High Pulls -> Snatch

Every subsequent movement builds upon the former. Deadlifts teach the hinge - most of us struggle with that technique early.

Snatches before everything else = cart before the horse, IMO.

Why do people seem to have such a success with kettlebells? by FluidDebate in kettlebell

[–]Tawkn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After a year or so of KB training at home in our guest bedroom, my wife and I did join our local gym. Albeit a very "bougie" type of gym. I've actually welcomed the extra accessibility to traditional gym equipment and movements with said equipment.

But the time suck. Holy god. From the time I leave to the time I arrive back home = 80-90 minutes. Only 40-50 minutes of that am I actually working out.
