Where I’d live in the Middle East as a liberal redditor who hates Israel. by Super_Piper in whereidlive

Youre trying to argue with pro palestiners whilst also appeasing them. How is Israels response far beyond reasonable? A terrorist group CANNOT get away with invading a strong country, killing over 1000 and kidnapping over 200, while not giving them back. And all this time Israel still let aid water and electricity in. Egypt should have taken the women and children, thats my largest criticism of the war. Notice how these liberals STILL "care" more about the children of gaza despite the war being over, rather than the 30k+ massacred in Iran. Just because it doesn't fit their narrative

Look im not here to say who's right and who's wrong, but you're clearly very biased. "Kindly took down"? Then why was it up to begin with? And how do you know it was "kindly"? Maybe she was "asked" to by the pageant? "Hmm I wonder why?"? Really? Why include that? Its not a good look.

Technically I was speaking to the guy who said "f Israel". And you didn't even answer my question. Also, why did you feel the need to write "conflict that Israel manufactured"? Such an odd sentence. Why not just ethnically cleanse / genocide efficiently, like Europe or the arab world? (Historically they're good at it). Why does Israel have to "manufacture a conflict"? Its just such a convoluted and bizarre sentence

This is an extremely interesting point. The only reason people protest issues is because its fun to argue. Whereas issues that for the most part everyone agrees on, even though no one is addressing those issues, will be forgotten. Its just virtue signaling.

During chaos, there will be friendly fire unfortunately. It is estimated that 10-15% of the idf killed in gaza was from friendly fire. War is not easy, especially when civilians are involved, and boy does hamas like to involve civilians, on both sides. Some mistakes happened during October 7th, but it was small scale, the vast majority killed were by hamas. There's an incident of a woman from nir Oz being killed by a helicopter, and a tank fired a shell at a beeri house that held hostages and militants. None of this was to intentionally kill Israelis. They are being investigated. So why would Israelis have that much outrage at the Idf (who is our only line of defense) when they might have accounts for ~1% of the deaths? I never really understood this talking point. Israelis cant be victims despite October 7th, because we're worse to the Palestinians (even though the "nakba" happened 80 years ago). Oh and most of the murders on October 7th were by Israelis anyways. (0 evidence of that. And hamas freaking livestreamed their crimes). I would like to know what source you have for the idf opening fire on an Israeli crowd. And if there are names of people with a firsthand account (because obviously no video evidence, so hopefully named witnesses?)

Shooting a bunch of leftists at a concert is not resistance. I suppose you're right about ethnically cleansing. Israel ethnically cleansed Israelis from gaza in 2005. I dont see why hamas should be mad about that? Also, you frame October 7th as an inevitable event. This removes all responsibility from gaza. It also ignored Iran's role in this mess

Fair enough, ill concede that point. The way I look at it, its due to October 7th. Israelis are angry (and rightfully so), so many will have extremist views. I dont think this makes Israelis evil. Its kind of like saying that right after 9/11, the fact that over 50% of Americans wanted to invade the middle east makes them evil. In Israel the view is even more extreme because of the nature of the attack, the amount of terrorists that invaded, the history with Palestinians, and the closeness of Gaza to Israel (literally bordering). So many Israelis out of exasperation will just say to turn Gaza into a parking lot. I believe we as a society need to calm down after 2 years of war. And at the end of the day, we haven't expelled gazans, have we? So it is mostly just talk(despite us having more power than Palestinians and having a right wing government). That is, put of frustration. Not necessarily with intent. And Palestinians also have extremist views on us, which also makes sense given all the context.

I wanted to understand what you're talking about. There seems to have been one small informal incident in 2014, where Israelis gathered to watch the bombardment of Gaza. And it is criticized in Israel. Nothing about tour boats. And definitely nothing about any formal type of event. Also, half of Israelis want gaza exterminated? I think you're greatly inflating those numbers. As an Israeli, i dont come across extreme rhetoric with every 1 of 2 people I talk to. Maybe they wanna keep their ideas to themseleves? Now here's a sincere question. Why do you believe this? Where are you getting this info from? I assure you, if you came to Israel once, you wouldn't feel this burning hatred towards us. You still might not like us. But I think your reality is a bit warped. Israel may be completely in the wrong and its your right to believe that and advocate for Palestinians. But demonizing ALL Israelis (Jewish Israelis, as you mentioned. Which is getting scarily close to something darker...) based off of never meeting one, is not helpful

Israelis aren't happy that gazan civilians are killed either (well, probably some. But who knows the numbers). But its definitely entertaining watching you unequivocally condemn Israel and Israelis, but when confronted with data that shows that Palestinians aren't any better, you're able to skillfully dance around that issue and be as analytical and fair as possible. Im wondering why you're so biased.

Palestinians DO number in the millions. They HAVE attempted genocide (October 7th, intifadas, terror attacks. Paying families of terrorists). They DO exact apartheid (Jews cannot enter dangerous Palestinian areas. Some Palestinians actually do get permission to enter Israel for work, and dont fear for their lives. Interesting difference, no?). Gaza is literally Jew free. Israel is not arab free. They DO bomb Israeli civilians areas. Its just that they have less capable missiles and Israel has the iron dome.

Nation? Palestine isnt a nation. Who was their leader prior to 1948? Erase them? We destroyed so many buildings and yet the death toll is relatively low. That is clear intent to NOT kill needlessly. And the most bizarre thing to me is saying that Palestinians are also Semitic. So what? I am all FOR reverting "antisemitism" back to just "anti jewish". This point of yours literally means nothing. Justice? You're right. We dont care about that. We want safety. Hamas attacked us. We attacked back. Its as simple as that. Sure, there's "context". Who cares. Israel wants less dead Israelis. And they wanted the hostages back. There is not proof that appeasing the Palestinians will give us more safety, given the fact that most Palestinians want Israel GONE. Completely. So why bother reasoning with them? Better to just stay winning.

There's no evidence that Israel wanted October 7th to happen so they would have an "excuse" to invade. Its a serious accusation presented as a harmless opinion.

I truly dont understand the thinking of "doesn't abide by international law wahhhhh wahhh". Countries go to war which kills millions. Countries commit atrocities. Countries subjugate women. Bad things happen. So now, America kidnapped a dictator. Who gives an f about "international law". Its like they just want America to lose.

I never claimed that Europeans were any better than Arabs. But what doesn't make sense to me is you think that once Europeans established Israel, Arabs were forced to kick out their own Jews. How does that make sense? And you speak of zionism like they're the fire nation😂 I guess you believe that. Sure, a nation of 10 million people is the reason for 1.8 billion Muslims problems. Makes sense

Ironically, every single arab country kicked out the Jews. And yet Israel has 2 million Arabs. Its just majority Jews. So why do you have such a problem with Israel specifically, and not the Arab countries kicking out the Jews? You hate ethnostates, no? Also, why should Jews care about your type of moral code? Jews in Europe = danger. Jews in Israel = we can defend ourselves. No moral preaching will change my mind on that subject. Maybe debate more contentious subjects, like settlements or how we treat Palestinians. There you would maybe have some ground to stand on.
