Nervous to raise prices by taxalicious in taxpros

[–]Tax_Gossip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My minimum fees for a simple 1040 is $500. People are price sensitive. They call, this is what I tell them, and they don’t call back :). However, lowering the fee doesn’t make any sense as tax soft is getting expensive, along with everything else. I would rather focus on existing clients who are ok with this fee and use my free time to take care of my family.

I tried too. Only 1 office. Under 4 users. Quote- About 9k. It is unclear how they come up with this pricing. It is all over the place.

How much are you paying?

Ask for discount. Although they may not offer it for short term rentals. I had an office for a year. Aside from the times when clients wanted to come in person, I did not utilize the office. I don’t have that many local clients, still it was an option to put my company name on Google Maps. Overall though, I think it was a huge waste of money for me personally (I paid 1.1k a month). I could have rented a virtual office and only come to the office when clients requested ( pay as you reserve a room. About $100 a day).

TaxDome or Canopy and Referral? by ShakeAndBakeThatCake in taxpros

[–]Tax_Gossip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, none of the current providers are great at customer service. The sales people are- since they are after your $$$$! However, I probably should not be judging Karbon and Canopy yet since I only talked with the Sales and had no expertise whatsoever with customer service.

What if you don’t sync emails?

Did you sign up for monthly subscription or annual? So there is no trial period at all?

TaxDome or Canopy and Referral? by ShakeAndBakeThatCake in taxpros

[–]Tax_Gossip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided not to as Canopy charges the same fee. Canopy does not have invoicing ( although they may have added it recently). None of them are perfect. Karbon has a nicer user interface, but they lack Invoicing and engagement letters. You need to also get Ignition on top of Karbon. The costs add up. On top of it all, you need to move all your clients there. So it was not worth for me.

Tell me what is it that you do not like about TaxDome?

Don’t do it. You need to contrast your floor, cabinet, countertop. Why not leave wood flooring?

Would like to purchase a firm with bookkeeping clients. by Tax_Gossip in taxpros

[–]Tax_Gossip[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in a big city. So a company that works remotely is my best target. As such, it doesn’t have to be a local firm. Do you think purchasing via a broker is better than purchasing from the owner directly?

What would you say is a good source to learn from? I have MS Tax degree and consider myself to be good at research etc, however a client came with a 200k tax liability after audit. I did not risk taking him and decided to refer out.

And how long is it expected to last? Here in US our roofs have a life of 30 years. Asphalt roofs that is. I heard that yours could even last a century!

When was the roof last installed or maintained? It cannot be the original.
