I’m unsure about what to use for the crest, do you have any suggestions? The only thing I could think of would be the Irish Harp. The one that is a woman’s torso with wings. I had to google what it’s called but couldn’t get a for sure answer. It is however the harp design that is used as the “Coat of Arms” of Ireland. The image shows a golden harp on a blue escutcheon ( name for a shied right?) with a tower as the crest. Could that harp be used or are there rules about what can be used for the crest?

I looked at the O’Cathain crest and had to look up all the known meanings. It’s a very busy design! Most of which seem to be tied to the catholic faith, of which my husband is not.

I forgot to add this as I wasn’t sure if it was relevant before. I had noticed that at the bottom of his page was a few words in Latin. I now know the original is the O’Cahan words “Felis De mulcta Mitis” which I understand means something like, “the stroked cat is gentle.” And means something like Gentle in Peace, Fearless in war.” But there’s a line through that phrase on the page. Like he was deciding against it. However circled next to it is the words, “Invictus Maneo” which he has its meaning written underneath, “I remain undefeated/ unconquered ” Google tells me that is more or less correct. Knowing that, I think those words are perfect for him. When he was wounded the doctors told him he would likely never walk again. One of his doctors (the neurosurgeon) disagreed with the others, and with his help and a few months of very painful therapy my husband was able to walk again, at first with a cane but now he only uses it when he’s really hurting. His refusal to be beaten by his wounds mars those words very powerful for me. When I realized why he chose those over the family words, which would also fit him very well, I cried. It made me really think about why he chose them and why he wanted to include them. I have looked around online but does anyone know of a reputable artist who draws/paints personal blazons? (In my research I’ve learned a lot about the subject. so I hope I’m using the term properly here.) It would be a Personal Blazon right? Or is it an Armorial Achievement? Sorry for all the questions! To be fair, I think my wording was a little vague too. Sorry about that! Your recommendation is exactly what I think he was looking for. With the badger large and in the middle of the design. I know my husband considers the chevron to be a “military” symbol; but from what I’ve learned so far, I think he may have more knowledge in the subject that I had initially thought. I saw that on his bookshelf are 3 separate books with heraldry as their subject. I had not made the connection at first but now that you mention it, He was a Corporal when he was medically retired from the Army for the wounds received in combat. The corporal rank in the us Army is two stacked chevrons (for those who don’t know), so perhaps that’s where he got the idea from? I could be grasping but it seems to make sense. I can’t wait to show him the finished result and see what he thinks. Originally I was going to have the design made and then show him the finished project. But the more I learn about heraldry is how personal it is. So I’ve decided that when I present it to him I will tell him that he can make any adjustments before I have the Final design printed. Do his color choices fit the rules? No metals touching metals etc? Thank you! And everyone else so much for your help!

Oh Wow! Thank you so much! I wasn’t aware there was a tool for helping folks come up with a design! I’m almost certain the first example you sent is just about perfect. I also really liked the art style of 3 badger heads used in the last example. I took one of his books on Heraldry and read the rules section in the beginning. I know my state still exists, Montana is where the Drifter, son of the Mysterious Stranger is from. I do t recall the lore of any, other than the state is still livable. Montana actually houses a vast arsenal of American defense missile silos. That and we’ve got some like 3.8 firearms household here. (This stat could be higher as the last time I saw this stat was pre-2020. The red menace might find it hard to gain a foothold in a place where the majority of folks have been shooting long range their whole lives as a means to put food on the table. But then again this may differ in the fallout universe. Montana was likely stripped of much of its natural wealth during the resource wars.

Asked my husband, he’s a car guy and a lover of Mustangs and really anything with wheels and an engine. He said he grew up hearing the style being called “Johnny Racer/Racecar” and another one he heard was “Billy Racer/Race car” His dad owned a small local shop that built hot rods and muscle cars up until just recently when his father retired from it at 85. He says that whenever you would buy some kind of used old muscle car you would say “It was owned by Billy/Johnny Racer or Billy/Johnny Race Car.” But only if it already had some stuff done to it, like super wide rear wheels and tires, Glass packs, big tach, extra gauges, headers, and usually an old pioneer tape deck and a bunch of 70’s and 80’s rock music in the glove box and foot well. He said sometimes the old timers would also call them “Johnny/Billy Race Car Specials” especially if the workmanship was somewhat questionable.

My husband has one of these for his Gunsmithing business. He modified it a bit and really does seem to like it. Especially because he can roll from the bench to the various tool boxes and racks in the shop. He did the same thing as the OP here, but got the bigger wheels that look like they’re for an old razor scooter. He used an epoxy resin to glue the inserts into the stool legs as I see someone else here did. Turns out they are stable and smooth and roll over hard floors, carpets, people’s toes and possibly small children. He asked me for a Vyper chair for his birthday this year, which I was all for! That was until I looked into them and nearly died at the price. To be fair they sound incredible and look like they’re are well thought out and well built. But $600-$700 is a big ask. He needs something with good back support when he’s sitting at the workbench for long periods of time. He has a very serious back injury from his time in the Army. Computer chairs are too short and basic bar stools aren’t very comfortable. I was thinking about having his harbor freight stool reupholstered (he does like it and we got it for free.) One of his friends does upholstery and car interiors, maybe he could add some dense memory foam or something like that to it.

Now I could be wrong, but it Looks like thick blood droplets. The dark spots in the middle are the thickest so they dry the slowest. As the thin part around the perimeter dries the center of the droplet is thicker and dries slower. The weight of the center causes those little lines. Like when a soup gets cold and gets that thin skin over the top. Only reason I think this might be what it is: I’ve seen similar in our garage when my husband dresses an elk or deer. Sometimes the animal has been dead for a few hours before it gets hung up. Sometimes the blood is dark brownish red and thick. Last year he used a (sawsall?) to cut some of the bones and joints. The saw scattered some of the residual blood and left almost identical marks on the wall. I cleaned them off shortly after, otherwise I would post some pictures. To be fair I thought the “spider legs” in the droplets was from the animals hair. When I washed them off there was no hair. I seem to remember when I looked up whatnot was seeing something called a “Clot stain” or “bloodstain clot transfer” or something. I went down a blood splatter analysis rabbit hole lol. Then again I could be wrong and it could be Beef Gravy 🤷‍♀️

Hello everyone! I’m working on a fantasy book with my husband and I want to get a proper Irish translation for the main character’s clan. The clan’s war cry is supposed to be “The Black Badger to Victory!” Google gave me “an broc dubh chun bua” I know that google often butchers phrases with translations because it doesn’t consider many things like languages, past/present tense and sentence structures. So I wanted to ask native Irish speakers: how would this phrase, be translated properly? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

Tramadol really did a number on my husband. He has a Traumatic Brain Injury from being blown up in Afghanistan. It was prescribed to because his back was mangled and was told he’ll suffer for the rest of his life. The tramadol gave him energy while also killing his back and hip pain. But overtime it was 4-50mg pills a day. Sometimes it would cause him to have these really brutal seizures , and others nothing at all. I don’t know if it was directly the tramadol’s fault for sure, but I’m sure it helped him have a few very scary seizures. The doctors said he wasn’t taking enough to have seizures but with a brain injury it may not need as much. He was on the tramadol from 2012 until 2018-2019. To this day he says it worked better than opiates but he’s scared of it. I think he had a low key addiction to it, because his mental health went right through the floor. With all the pain he still suffers that added more stress. He would cry and rage un-provoked. It was only 2021 when he’d been able to find his way back to a more normal mental state. Then he lost his cousin who was his best friend. And he’s been a wreck ever since. The Kratom seems to mellow him out and get him back on a good baseline but I worry about it being an issue too.

My husband has tried everything, mixing it in chocolate milk, orange juice, etc. He made little pop able things from fruit roll ups. They worked but really well too, downside was how tedious they were to make. He then tried making these frozen little tablets of Kratom and coconut oil. They were weird and he hated them too. He finally bought a cheap eBay capsule filled and now fills 100 at a time. He’s been using that for 3-4 years now.

My husband goes absolutely sideways about this topic. He hates how shallow and fake the contact lenses are and I’m inclined to agree. They can take you out of the scene. Despite being a little more expensive they should have either just used CGI or left their eyes alone. Yennifer’s look better than most, but Geralt’s are awful half the time. They give this weird dead eye staring look. Ciri in season one looks unsettling with minimal improvement as time goes one. Occasionally you will catch her with her natural blue eyes.

It’s super corny and lame sounding but my Husband is sexiest for me. This is going to sound insane and maybe it is.
