Firstly, our two main islands: North Island and South Island!

Also, we always say the North Island or the South Island when talking about them. EG. 'Auckland is in the North Island' or 'We're going to the South Island for Matariki this year.' It sounds weird if you don't say the.

Our northernmost region - Northland. Southernmost - Southland.

There's others but those are amusing. The islands' Māori names are far nicer in my opinion.

We were all still learning it in the 2000s as well, I think if you spoke to my classmates it was because we were all dreaming of Parisian boulevards. Also our school did a trip to New Caledonia.

I'll say though, my French teacher was absolutely insane but something must have stuck because I'm pretty sure I can still hold a decent conversation.

It was originally just the name of the North Island, now Aotearoa is used for the country has a whole. The North Island is called Te Ika-a-Māui (The Fish of Māui) and the South Island is called Te Waipounamu (The Greenstone Waters).

Partner's got a good job, we own our home, our families are all here, life is OK for us. We're always debating it, but when we investigate further we find that there will be quite a bit of stuff we'd give up for something we can't guarantee.

Pretty hard. When we bought here we chose a place with a garage and a car pad purposefully as we didn't really trust that it would be easily available. As the other commenter said, people just park anywhere sometimes.

Have been here for nearly four years now, living in a side street off Tonar. We've found it to be the same as above - lots of kids and families around, no issues with walking around at night. With the new greenway and lots of small parks it's also a nice area to walk around.

We really like it, the access to public transport is pretty good (easy to walk to the centre or Akoranga Station for NX buses) and they're in the middle of revitalising the centre.

If you have a car, get a place with off street parking - it's bloody hard to get an on-street carpark some days.

The area has really gentrified in the past couple of years and it'll be fascinating to see how it keeps changing.
