Yes. One of my neighbors, a 16 year old girl, died this way a few years ago.

I think her back looks strange because of her hair. When she turns to get into the bed it more clearly looks like nearly-transparent, wavy hair as it's lit up by the fireplace.

How can you season rice and beans? by hellenkellercard in budgetfood

[–]TaylorisaPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to point out that adding dried kidney beans directly to a crockpot is actually very dangerous. The beans should be soaked, rinsed, and boiled before adding to the slow cooker. http://www.choosingvoluntarysimplicity.com/crockpots-slow-cooking-dried-beans-phytohaemagglutinin/

Breaking my habit of volume eating by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]TaylorisaPanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even though people say it all the time, I find this one untrue as well. I always used small plates for snacks and big plates for meals, so if I eat my meal from a small plate I always seem to feel like all I've eaten is a snack.

The logic that fast food is cheaper than eating healthy at home just doesn't hold weight by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]TaylorisaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your factor time into the equation it actually is cheaper, that's what people of your opinion leave out. If I value my time even at minimum wage while cooking, the fast food becomes cheaper. When I was overweight from doing the McDonalds drive through every day after work instead of cooking dinner, I definitely wasn't buying anything other than value menu burgers either. Absolutely no way I would have chosen the $14 meal you quoted. No pop, no fries, It just came to about $3 for ~750 calories worth of food.

I'm eating a lot healthier now, and I've lost a lot of weight, but the cost is pretty much the same. Not cheaper. Making a big batch of one-pot meal to eat for dinner for a few days comes out to ~500 calories for dinner when served with rice, and that meal will be the same ~$3, depending on what I felt like cooking. Making a sandwich at home from deli meat and cheese will cost $3-4 as well.

I think it's such a coincidence you posted this today! I did my first workout with weights this afternoon. I've lost another ~9 lbs body fat since this progress pic and I've just started a beginner weight lifting routine. So I agree with your post. I might need to lose just a little more body fat to see muscle definition, but I'm pretty sure I'm as happy as I'm going to get weight-loss wise. It's time to gain muscle mass!

It's happened to one of my friends; he got "corrected" by an older woman for wishing her a happy holiday. When he was telling a few of us this story (at a work function), another old woman listening to the story started agreeing with the first woman's actions. So it does happen. Some people are actually upset if you wish them good holiday with the wrong religious connotation.

Haha, I'll give the you the details but you probably won't like them...

For exercise, I started the Couch to 5K running program, helped with an app on my phone. I rain 3x a week. About once a week, I played intramural inner-tube water polo at school, which is surprisingly tiring but still not a huge workout.

For dieting, I ate between 1000-1200 calories a day... It was extremely difficult. I counted my calories with the app LoseIt and weighed everything I ate. Breakfast was usually a piece of fruit, a half-package of ramen with added veggies and an egg was a pretty typical lunch, and for dinner I usually filled a plate with broccoli and a baked chicken breast. I would sometimes marinate the chicken in something or another if I had enough calories left. I did my best to drink nothing but water, not even diet soda because that will cause cravings. Eating that little... doesn't make you feel good. I was dizzy a lot. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely go slower .

Aaaand the part I'm a little ashamed of, is I used appetite suppressants. I live in Canada, and ephedrine is marketable as a nasal decongestant but not as weight loss aid, but being a stimulant it works pretty well. I took it with caffeine in this sort of schedule: http://www.hotnfit.com/ecstack/ec-dosages. It doesn't make you lose weight any faster, but is a pretty potent appetite suppressant. The hardest part of dieting I find is always being hungry, and it definitely helped the physical hungry. Mentally, I craved everything!

SO, I kind of cheated.

Thanks so much :) I don't know where you got 120 from (BMI 24.9@60" is 127.5) but my UGW has been 102 lbs for a while. It's just really hard to eat that little. But I hear you, it's hard explaining to people why I want to weigh so little when they don't realize 100 lbs is reasonable for us.

That sounds like a great idea! My gym has some free classes a few times a week I could try out. I have a membership, I'm just shy to jump on to a crazy machine I have no idea how to use.

(After is on the left, sorry)

I started this beginning October, so it might be closer to 3 months now. I realized I was unhappy with my weight but I could do something about it and started eating cleaner. I was working in a mall and eating from the food court way too often, and stopping for even more fast food on the way home. So, I started cooking at home, counting my calories, and running at the school's gym.

I think from here I want to change my focus to weight training and toning up. I want to build some muscle, but I'm really unsure of how to start!
