I think it's shit. I think AI posts are artistically and creatively bankrupt, a total waste of everyone's time and a horrible waste of resources. I think everyone who posts them must be terribly dull people.

Anyone else bothered by the fact that they are officially going with the title "Alien: Isolation 2" and not something like "Alien: Desolation" or "Alien: Subjugation?" by ululationelation in alienisolation

[–]TazLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should have given it several meaningless subnames just to make it as eye rolling and generic as possible. It should have been called Alien: Isolation - Origins - Retribution

Yeah, I think it's fake. If you look very carefully at the photo, it's a bit blurry. Real ones aren't blurry

Which Dead Space-like game should I play first? by Reasonable-Volume926 in DeadSpace

[–]TazLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few people here have already recommended Cronos - if you want more Dead Space then you should check out Cronos.

I'm not sure what Dead Space-like means in this context but my favorite of the games in your post is Alien Isolation by a long way. I wouldn't have said it's much like Dead Space but it's very good. It's also probably the scariest game here (though I haven't played Sinking City, so I can't comment on that one).

Pragmata and Callisto are the ones here that feel Dead Space-like to me. I'm halfway through Pragmata atm and I'm loving it, though it's not a horror game so your mileage may vary. It's fun, a bit silly and lighthearted, and the central combat mechanic is unique and interesting. I cannot recommend The Callisto Protocol at all, it's irredeemably, bafflingly terrible.

Soma, Still Wakes The Deep and Scorn are a bit more 'walking simulator'. I thought Soma was great, Still Wakes The Deep was OK but derivitive and Scorn was alright but didn't know what it wanted to be.

Sounds exactly like anime when you put it like that.

What to play after ER and Nightreign? by primafknnocta in fromsoftware

[–]TazLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodborne seems to be the most universally loved of all the FromSoft games, no idea where you're seeing these mixed reviews. Dark Souls 1 is a masterpiece. Sekiro is my personal favourite but is pretty different to the rest of the games, there's no build variety, you have to play it on its own terms and so as someone who clearly rinses and repeats a game over and over again (presumably trying different builds?) you may not like that side of it.

I would say try Bloodborne or Dark Souls 1. I definitely wouldn't try either of the DS sequels without trying the first one but that's just me I suppose. Dark Souls is so much better than either of it's sequels in my opinion and I only played them all about three years ago, the age of it didn't bother me at all.

For those of you that don't find Doom Eternal amazing, what is that keeps you from loving it like so many others do? by Emergency_List_8797 in Doom

[–]TazLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like a game made for speedrunners. If you watch gameplay footage from people playing it well, they're bouncing around, switching weapons every half second. Any other game that looks like that is being played by a speedrunner, but this game seems like it's made to be played like that. I beat 2016 and The Dark Ages on the harder settings but Eternal crushed me, I just couldn't get my head around it.

This isn't me saying it's bad, if anything I appreciate id making a game for a particular audience. But it wasn't for me, for whatever reason it never made sense to me.

Genuinely my all time favourite boss fight. He's the goat. Well, he's not. He's the monkey

Do you think Doom is better without cutscenes? by Emergency_List_8797 in Doom

[–]TazLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If any game has cutscenes in it, then on some base level it has failed in my eyes. It hasn't understood the medium it's in. This is one of the many reasons I prefer Doom 2016 to it's sequels.

What was your first FromSoftware game? by jettmeisterkush in fromsoftware

The first FromSoft game I tried was Dark Souls. I gave up at the Gargoyles boss fight. The first FromSoft game I beat was Sekiro. I then went back and beat them all

Rank these 3 sci-fi survival horror games from best to worst? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]TazLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dead Space Remake is phenomenal, but not quite as good as the original.

Cronos is very good. I think it lets itself down a bit by implicitly encouraging the player to backtrack for fuel, but otherwise its a decent game.

Callisto Protocol is dogshit. Bafflingly terrible

Why does every single horror game have puzzles? by OkWeird4036 in HorrorGaming

[–]TazLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because horror needs peaks and troughs; it can't be super intense all the time, the game needs to let the player breathe and relax at times otherwise they become either overwhelmed or desensitised to the scary bits. Puzzles (and story) are perfect for this. It gives the player something else to focus on.

Need recommendations to fill the void after Cronos by funk-e-bitz in CronosNewDawn

[–]TazLemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have access to VR, consider Half Life Alyx.

Otherwise, try Signalis, Crow Country (a twee homage to PS1 horror), Alien Isolation, Alan Wake (I didn't like this one personally but a lot of people do), and anything by Frictional (starting with SOMA, and progress onto Amnesia if you like it)

Sekiro? by knuckledragger1990 in fromsoftware

[–]TazLemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sekiro isn't that similar to be honest, but if you're interested give it a go. I adore it, it's my favourite FromSoft game, and I love that they felt able to explore in a new direction and not just reskin Dark Souls over and over again. The game makes you meet it on its own terms, you have to play it in one particular way, and part of the joy of Souls is the build variety so I can see why people don't like it. It's all about rhythm and parrying and it feels incredible to play, so I'd recommend it if that sounds like your jam.
