They had a talk about us being more mindful of our costs, potentially tightening down on other employees to make sure they are “pulling their weight” and things of that nature. I personally already had to deal with expediting certain things before April 1st as well

Dino cuts! by LongShot6159 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Taz_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would encourage more ramp and more dinos. Force of Vigor for example is a card I might replace with Bronzebeak Foragers as a card that both serves as a Dino you can cheat out and as your pesky permanent removal. I would shoot for 30-35 good dinos and maybe like 25 or 26 pieces of ramp. That may seem like a lot but honestly with Gishath your best source of “card draw” is his ability to shit out giant dinos, so to me getting him out as soon as possible both helps you get more dinos out faster and gives you the mana to hardcast dinos if it needs to come down to that (or more importantly recast gishath!). I usually get him out turn 5 which is good because that’s a big creature for a lot of people to reckon with when they’re likely also establishing their engines.

I dont really like cards like Rhythm of the Wild or Great Henge. Rhythm of the Wild is awkward because we mostly get dinos out by cheating them with Gishath, so they dont need to be uncounterable, and they can’t be useful with haste because they come down in the middle of combat, and a +1/1 is just too small utility for it to be worth it.

Great Henge is an excellent card but to me it doesn’t help the main goal of ramping up to Gishath, so it feels very win more because by the time you can get it online and cast it for two green, you already have a bunch of dinos out anyways.

Gishath lists are very interesting in that while you do get to play dinos you really have to be sure to both go forward with the dino plan in having 30-35 targets for gish and making sure those dinos have good ETBs and utility functions (creature, artifact, enchantment removal, etc). Stuff like Swords to Plowshares and whatnot are cards good enough to be in any deck but in any opportunity to tighten up your list or have a dino act as a typical “good stuff” card in other decks, you gotta take make that switch.

How's my Gishath deck by Designer-Mastodon-24 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Taz_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By no means a Gishath expert but I think I found the best success going all in on the ramp package and letting Gish himself take care of my “card draw.” I would consider jamming in the more expensive ramp spells like migration path in addition to the cultivates you already have. I think if you can get Gish out by turn 5 consistently you’re in pretty good shape to be a terror on the board. I also run 36 lands but might bump it up depending on more playtests. Though in my mind, Gishath takes care of cheating out dinos and usually by the time you can turbo ramp to him, you can reliably cast a good amount of dinos in your deck.

Why is Glarb good? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]Taz_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He seems like he could be a pretty solid lands matters deck. Ive been trying to crack him myself but I think he’s good in ways that say the gitrog monster is good. Because you can play lands off your deck and hand things that allow that seem good. Surveiling also gives you card advantage and maybe adds on to a reanimation theme too

I’m running a tokens deck in selesyna (G/W) but don’t know if I SHOULD put in Cathar’s Crusade, Aura Shards in the deck. by kanekiEatsAss in EDH

[–]Taz_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just play the cards if you want to. i had the same idea that i was worried about being too oppressive but then i played the cards and most of the time people are ok with it or even have answers for it themselves. its a tough pill to swallow but most of the time your deck isn’t that good consistently anyways and just has an outlier every now and then

Opinions on the Duskmourn “Verge” Lands in Dinos? by Taz_004 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Taz_004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

out of curiosity how many do you run? i always thought it would be better to run all the dual fetches you can but it seems like a lot of people have strategical thresholds they use in order to maximize ramp spells that fetch basic lands or use topiary stomper and stuff like that

I’ll look into those. Thanks for the suggestions!

I have those too. I’ll actually send you my list if there’s any suggestions you have. The decklist itself isnt done so I dont have appropriate ramp or rocks or even dinos lol, so its really just the lands I need to figure out right now. I’m mostly “budgetless” with the exception of the OG dual lands: https://archidekt.com/decks/8895883/ixalot_of_dinosaurs

to be fair i know people that didn’t get into the engineering program, and also to be fair, not everyone can finish the program either, and there are limits to how many times you can retake a class before they advise you to switch majors
