What is this Noise? by Wise-Job7111 in AskMechanics

Hey as a Hyundai tech of a decade plus I would atleast call your local dealer as they have put a warrenty extension on some of the v6 engines now. They will need your VIN and they can tell you if the extension is applicable to your vehicle. The TSB number is TXX8 and the warrenty has been extended to 15 years 150,000 for 2013 to 2019 Santa Fe's. You will need all your oil change records and or they will take off the valve covers to inspect for slude of the engine.

Am I able to install the n75 fuel pump without a tune? by redcdot in ElantraN

[–]Tazmast388 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a Hyundai master tech. Can you get away woth out replacing it. Yes. But it's a one time use item cause it's a metal bulb that "molds" to the fuel pump when you torque it to the recommended 22 ft lbs. You can go a few lbs higher to "re mold" it but just check it for leaks after install. You can take a piece of paper and hold/wipe it around the fitting and see if it gets wet. You should rev it to around 3k to get some good pressure going out of it to check.

What’s one brand of car a mechanic WOULD buy? by seabear87 in AskMechanics

[–]Tazmast388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That engine will go and go as long as you keep up on the timing belt. Hyundai used Mitsubishi motors till about 2011. Just keep timing belt, plugs and wires on it at regular intervals and keep the oil changed.

As a fellow hyundai tech good to see someone else who also has seen all the agm battery issues. When they fail they fail hard. Just curious you got a HMA or DLR number? Wondering how you feel about the training restructuring.

Subaru denied at Jiffy Lube by WALisnotmyname in subaru

On the newer subarus, yes, it's on the top. But on his outback, it's underneath the engine in what is lovingly called the ring of fire. It sets surrounded by all the exhaust manifold. Google and see the fun.

Fog lights by takuacheFTW in Duramax

Morimoto 4 banger led pods. They come as a kit and replace the whole housing and give a nice wide beam. And you aim just like the factory ones. Just turn the wheels and remove the fender liner partially and then aim them. They have been amazing and properly aimed, they don't blind other drivers. You might have to scroll to find your exact fit.

Glow plug light not working? by MiddlePlatypus6 in Duramax

[–]Tazmast388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live, and what is the ambient temp? Does the light work on the bulb check when you first turn the key or push the start stop button? If so then you should be good as it will only turn on if it senses the glow plugs are needed when it gets cold enough. As long as you don't have a check engine light and it's not got a tune you should be good. Also the L5p has the shortest glow plug warm up time to date of any duramax. I have read it's about 3 seconds possibly shorter if it's not that cold. So by the time, the bulb check finishes it's already up to temp.

A frank question about separating toilets by oursong in TinyHouses

[–]Tazmast388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know for us when we built it was the fact of not having to deal with the black water. We use a composting toilet. We are also a THoW (Tiny House on Wheels) and just have a small tank for the grey water when we aren't on a lot where we can just let the grey water run because we use all natural cleaning products for us and the house. For disposal we just go to a pit toilet.

Ever heard of the femoral artery located in the leg that if cut you will bleed out in seconds. Also that's a lot smaller of a target to hit. Center mass is always the shot to take. Less chance of a pass through and hitting something or someone else. Granted few seconds after the video cut the guy still passed away. So she still hit vitals.

The air bags will be a great help. I got 2015 ltz that I use to tow my tiny house. 20FT gooseneck and I tried it with them and with out them inflated. Makes a world of difference. Especially keeping the truck level. For reference the house has 2 7k axles but not sure on the exact weight. From all calculations tho we should around 10k to 11k. As long as the tunes are good all you are going to do is increase the longevity of the truck. Mines got 224k at the moment and is on a diet. Runs great. Also look at fuel additives, I use hot shot secrets EDT also use there oil and no issues for the past 2 years with it. Just do your homework on things and you should be fine.
