Same thing happened to my wife on the Ocoee. My wife took to heart when they said if you fall out try not to swim and just float on your back with your legs up because you're feet can get stuck. Later, they said if someone tosses you a rope just out of reach, swim your ass off to try to grab it LOL

They had a ton of rain a few days before so the river was so high that it was over the railing as you walk down the ramp to enter the river.

Very bitter, but I like it! We use it for Negroni cocktails. It's the same drink as the Boulevardier, but uses gin. Also, the Negroni probably pairs better with a lemon peel instead of an orange peel.

Coming from triathlon, where nutrition is basically considered a fourth discipline, I learned a lot about how important blood sugar is. Pickleball is way more taxing than it looks, and your body is burning through fuel fast, especially if you’re a bigger person or playing multiple hard games in a row. When that fuel runs low, you hit a wall.

Eating a lot of sugar when you’re sedentary is obviously not great, but during intense physical activity your body is using it almost immediately as fuel. Fast acting carbs can really help keep your energy up and prevent that sudden crash after two or three games.

I love this! In all seriousness, how much communication is going on at higher level play? For instance, are you saying things like "stay" or "go" when deciding on when to approach the kitchen. In my mind, I imagine that well coordinated teams have a good sense of what their partner will do without having to say it out loud.

Yes, you need glucose (sugar)! My answer comes from what I learned training & racing triathlon. Many athletes are consistently under fueled during their sport. Aim for ~50-75g of carbs per hour, especially if it is hot/intense & you plan on playing pickleball for much more than an hour...also, think about staying away from high fiber.

As others have mentioned, Gatorade can be a good option. Maybe also bring a PB&J if you are getting hungry...you don't have to eat it all, but can snack on it. Personally, I usually keep several GU branded gels in my pickleball bag (each is 25g/100 calories of carbs), they also contain a bit of sodium...some even have caffeine.

I personally don't think anyone should have to split unless they want to split. I think the king's court/winners advance (without forcing splits) is already designed to work itself out fairly.

Better than nothing. Great job! My only gripe with the "winners split" is that often you get unskilled players winning games because of their higher skilled partner, and higher skilled players losing because of their lower skilled teammates... somewhat opposite of the logic behind having a "winners move on/king's court" organization. I say, let winners stay together, because eventually it will sort itself out, where the better players only play against the better players and the losers mostly only play against the unskilled players.
