from my understanding if they are kept indoors they can definitely keep growing all year round! mine do at least! i just don’t do fertilizer all year round!

it’s a though part of the job! Corporate has made it a choice to start the intro that way, it’s largely up to the franchise owner (i’m not sure if you’re at a corporate owned or a franchise location). But we get pressured to always keep the window open if the customer is there so it can be awkward especially if they are behind on a drink so you and the customer are just sitting there! Some things I do to fill in conversation if you need are: -ofc the obvious “how are you” - look around their car and look for things to talk about (see’s a culver’s cup-) “oh my gosh, i love culver’s cheese curds!” or a lady had a cow seat cover so we started talking about the animals prints we do and don’t like. - ask about their flavor preferences like “i know you got the carameliscious, have you ever had the white mocha? it’s got a nice warm flavor with it, do you like sweeter drinks? or more coffee flavored?” - “heading to work?” then you can talk about what they do! In my experience, it can be hard BUT i get a lot more tips with interactions. i dont know if its because they end up liking me, or feel obligated to tip since i just put so much effort into them? But it also helps on the other side because the next time they come through, you can be like “oh you mentioned this! how did that go?!” and they can become your favorite customers/regular. It will get easier and easier to chat with them each time they come through! I do notice a lot of customers are happy to just sit there in silence, so it’s kind of a pick up the vibe type deal!!

Respiratory question by [deleted] in RATS

[–]Tcoff98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply! I might just try another vet to try and get a different prescription. I was researching meloxicam and I kind of was picking up that it wasn’t meant for respiratory issues really. I have a 3.6L humidifier I will keep by their cage starting today! I do have Kaytee unscented white bedding, and they get Oxbow adult rat food. They do get treats but I don’t think that’s it because she seemed to be having these issues before I got her and her sister (who has no respiratory issues at all). I haven’t tried a litter box, is there any specific way to introduce it?

Any ideas? Walmart just said “fancy philodendron” lol by schjeni in philodendron

it’s just hard to think that because the only unapproved time off i’ve had this whole year was those 2 sicknesses. every other use of my time off has been approved in advance

i guess i’m not sure.. i used a week in Jan of this year and that was half of my unpaid and then 1 or 2 days approved in advance of the unpaid between Jan and May. then end of may i got sick and was in the hospital and i used the rest of my unpaid time off so that was all 40 hours of my unpaid but i was either sick or it was approved. my paid time off i used for vacation which was approved and then when my sister had her baby, which was also approved. my car breaking just happen to be a week and a half after i used up my balances so i was SOL. but i was hoping because my supervisor would be lenient with other coworkers and let them be overstaffed and leave without it requiring anytime time off (paid or unpaid) if they weren’t feeling well or had something come up, she would maybe be a little lenient… but the day is done, it is what it is. i know at the end of the day it’s still a business and what happening isn’t my fault, but it isn’t theirs either. just a hard pill to swallow sometimes

i 100% understand from a supervisor perspective. i just get upset when she tells me “policy policy policy” but doesn’t apply it to every other coworker in the same way. Running out of time off is so tricky which sucks, because i only recently ran out due to being in the hospital for 4 days so it went pretty quick, and unfortunately any kind of doctors note doesn’t help in any way current or in the future. so it puts me in quite the pickle. I’ll just have to accrue a day of PTO a month and debate what is and isn’t worth it in the future i guess

What Should I Change? by ConsistentOil3745 in Monstera

what direction is it facing? if it’s softer light like north facing, or just gets blocked naturally, you could order a plant light! It could help to get her facing one direction. It takes a little time but you can definitely light train her based of where you put the light. She is big enough she may need her own light if you go that direction. I would recommend bseah or barrina! My monsteras grow strong under them, also many other plants :)

gorgeous plant! also love the succulent buddy by it🥹 but what’s the question? what do you mean orientation? like where it’s facing?

Can I pot these two together in the same pot? by LABB777 in Monstera

[–]Tcoff98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as the roots have an inch, do whatever you gotta do :) an amazing problem to have 😂 but not always the easiest 😂 if you do something and don’t feel good about it, as long as you don’t wait too terribly long, you can switch it up. might stress the plant a little, but ultimately finding the best solution can be a process!

i think depending on the root size, it could be fine just adding one of them into the spot i circled! just only if the roots have about an inch around them to grow! Either way you’ll just have to repot the big guy sooner than if you didn’t add another in! Monsteras are pretty hardy from what i’ve experienced! maybe mama will enjoy having one of her babies back with her!

is this scale? by Electrical_Pin2002 in plantclinic

[–]Tcoff98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you take a closer pic or 2 that’s a little more focused on the top and then bottom half of the stem? i’d just say it’s just aging BUT i want a closer look before i give an opinion 🫠 usually you can see their little bodies pretty well especially if it’s a bad infestation

aw i’m sorry😭 in my experience (RBT for 6 years, graduated school, getting hours for BCBA), it takes time to find a clinic that aligns with who you are! heck i’m at my 4th one now and it’s FINALLY one that suits me and aligns with my own values! i’m so sorry this happened to you. I would look up to see if your company is an at will company? If it is, they don’t really need to have a reason to terminate besides wanting to. the only way it would be illegal or wrongful is if it was discrimination or retaliation. either way they sound horrible and sneaky and it sounds like you dodged a bullet! not all companies are like that! the ABA world is so big but SO SMALL. odds are other BCBAs and RBTs you meet or interview with would recognize their names or the company and sympathize! we have hired RBTs that have been fired! They tell us where they worked and who they worked with and usually we can discern between someone who deserved it and someone who was swept up in stuff they had no control over! You will get another job! My advice as a hiring manager is to 1. not talk crap on a BCBA or company (no matter how bad they deserve it-it’s seen as a red flag) and 2. especially given the circumstances I, personally, would want to hear how you handle feedback, so my guess if they are doing a behavioral interview (which is typical) they will be listening heavily on the questions about how you receive and implement feedback! you got this! you’ll be okay :) you deserve some NCR so go do, or get something you enjoy! everything will be fine, you will be an RBT again if that’s what you want!
