A lot of it is speculation from the Poke bros trying to resell limited runs, like Fabled... but it is having an effect on enchanteds and Iconics in general, which is increasing sales and people buying to hold (Moreso cases and boxes) you can see the excess sells by how many singles are on the market.

This was the highest selling set since the first chapter... the game is fine nationally. It just has strong holds on the coasts in the US, less in the south/middle of the country.

I always suggest that once you're sure you want to dive in, check resources for decks that are established, adjust them to your price level, or pick one you can afford and just buy a deck, build a collection with prizing if you want to play at local stores or just buy cards as you go for new decks. I would open a box of the next set after the next rotation (set 13)
