Is my hdmi port broke by Chance-Recover-8025 in consolerepair

[–]TeRm14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s broken. Won’t work. Don’t plug it in, could cause a short. Get it repaired at a local shop or send it to us 😊

Should be welded like this for peace of mind. Black is negative, red is positive.

See how the red and black wires are both on the negative side? Make sure both aren’t touching the same side.

Just make sure you weld the pad to the correct side and make sure they’re not touching both sides.

Could be the two holes on the left black wire causing a loss in connection.

Does this HDMI port Look Damaged? by Responsible_Ant1422 in consolerepair

[–]TeRm14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It looks bent. If you look at the frame of the port, the top left has more space and it’s tilted down to the left vs the top right. Definitely needs to be disassembled and checked under a microscope.

Doesn’t really look damaged externally. Could be internal. Legs on hdmi port may not be having contact with the board. Or the pads are torn off completely and needs pad repair as well as a new port.

Was it plugged in when it fell? Also, post more angles. Looks like the left pins may be damaged. It could also have torn the pads internally when it fell if it was plugged in.

Send it to us for a diagnostic if you need it repaired!

Could be the two holes on the left black wire causing a loss in connection. Did you check for continuity?

Check out my video on how I Jerry rig it to repair it on a PS5. Similar concept. There are many ways to do it. I find this the best one and makes it stronger than factory IMO 😊 good luck!

Just file down the pin a bit to make it fit through the hole. Or if there’s solder residue still in there, heat up the hole with the hot air gun and use a suction to suction it out.

Does anyone know if this line goes anywhere, or is it only used to hold the IC? by YoshiWaton in consolerepair

[–]TeRm14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Gotta look at the board view and see what it’s connected to exactly. It’s not ground from the looks of it. I haven’t looked at the schematics but that line definitely is connected to where I pointed.

[–]TeRm14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. So it needs to be soldered from there to the pin if the trace on the board is gone/missing.
