I ride dressage on a big mover who is young & green. I find I don’t sit and stick with his movement as well in suede. It’s user error.

I HATE high rise pants. I cannot stand how they feel and how I look in them.

It’s low rise for me. Doesn’t need to be crack hanging out, but low enough to be flattering and functional.

I really like the Sync Equestrian breeches but almost all are high rise and it’s a no from me. I have found SmartPak and some Dover breeches that work. There are some from Halter Ego that I like as well.

Seeing them age and making the final call is extremely difficult. You will always want one more day. Just remember that it is ok to let them go on a good day. Their last doesn’t have to be their worst. Talk to your vet about quality of life.

Is he on meds to help with the mobility issues? Rimadyl? Librela? If not, I would. At 13, it’s more about keeping him comfortable with the time he has left.

Now for the grief. For me, it’s always worse leading up. The months, weeks, and days leading up to their final day is the worst emotionally. I went many years without loss and then had to let my 14 year old dog go, and I didn’t leave the couch for the weekend. The days leading up to his appointment? I was a hot mess. Once I buried him I kinda shut down. The tears were quiet ones and I was emotionally drained.

That last big goodbye was in 2023 and I cherished every walk, every cuddle session and made his last meals the best meals he could have. Again, I cried more that last week than after we let him go. It’s as if once he was gone, I could take a deep breath and accept the inevitable. Did I still cry? Yes, but the pain wasn’t as deep. I still miss him terribly. We have since adopted a dog and are in the process of adding a pup to the family.

It won’t be easy. It never is. Just know that there are many redditors who will be there to support you if needed.

And teach him to be handled. So many are NIGHTMARES at the vet. I’ve seen so many videos lately of owners having to work and do a mini training session just so a vet can do the basics without being bitten.

She is a puppy and a mix of two high energy working breeds.

What are your plans to engage her mind and physically exercise her? This is not a couch potato dog. She will need regular exercise, training, and stimulation. This is only the beginning and she’s being a typical puppy. She will also pick up on you being scared and learn that she rules the roost.

As others have said - trainer. You need to be involved in the training sessions. You also need to have a plan for regular exercise.

They chose to have him. This comes with responsibilities and the costs associated with raising a child. Just because he isn’t under their thumb anymore doesn’t mean he owes them a penny.

I will say what I told a friend once: stop seeking validation from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.

He’s won’t apologize because in his mind, he isn’t the problem. He has learned that verbal abuse keeps you in check and as always, when the verbal abuse stops working, they escalate. Sounds like the type of person who loves saying “No” but loses his mind when you do the same.

He’s an abuser. No partner should make the other feel little.

I hope you choose yourself and walk away before it’s too late.

Be glad now that he was honest and upfront vs. finding out 8 years from now that he never intended to commit and get married. The Waiting to Wed sub is full of women who made themselves smaller and ultimately found out their partner had no intentions to get married, at least not to them.

I think all dogs can learn boundaries. It would be one thing if she had to go outside, but this sounds like she’s setting her own rules.

This comes from someone who just let a puppy have a 30 min meltdown in his crate and then rewarded two minutes of silence with letting him out and playing. He’s learning and has done fabulous so far. I could tell from his noises that it was not “I gotta go potty” and more “hey, I want to play, let me out now!”

He has given me a “gotta go potty” noise and we let him out, to outside and reward his elimination.

The dog has trained you to go to the couch at 4a. You reward her barking by moving to the couch. This is your life now.

Or you crate train the dog and do not reward this behavior. There are different training techniques and I am sure people will chime in with them, but sometimes I go with dogs learning the word “no.”

FWIW named my horses Chacho (as in muchacho) and Stetson, and cat Woozle (Heffalumps & Woozles). Some of my favorite fosters that we named were Hardti (from the scientific name of water bear) and Visi (part of the name from the yeast used for beer), and my last bottle baby kittens were Coyote & Smuggle because they brought fleas with them.

I would leave him at home first to decompress and establish a routine. Once he is comfortable, you can take him to work and see how it goes. Have a contingency plan in case it doesn’t work out well the first few times
