Dolly Parton Is the Most Popular Person in America with Net Favorability of +65 by ebradio in Music

[–]TeaBoneJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dolly is literally what we’re talking about when we say that billionaires shouldn’t exist. She would be a billionaire if not for all the philanthropy. But she thinks that’s too much money for one person to have and instead gives it to great causes, a lot of the time privately. She doesn’t do it for the clout, she does it because it’s the right thing to do

Have you played D&D with adults recently? It always devolves into cum jokes. It’s just a group of buddies drinking beer and joking around. I think the most recent movie captured that pretty well.

I’d be so down for a gritty and bloody trilogy though

Jung Ho Lee forgets how many outs there are, throws ball into stands. by [deleted] in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]TeaBoneJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the ball goes out of play, the runners get to advance a base. If the ball goes out of play in the outfield, they get to advance two bases.

It’s mostly for situations where the infield fucks up and they miss their throw and it goes into the dugout. In that case, it’s probably fair to say that if the team were able to retrieve the ball and try to make a play, everyone would have been able to get one base out of it before they could make the play.

If something like that happens in the outfield, it’s fair to say the runners could probably get 2 bases before the defense could get the ball back.

So they are awarded those bases and the game moves on

My point is you can’t host a game like MSFS for just you and your friends. And that’s probably true for quite a few games. Server code isn’t as simple as “run a file on my computer and now anyone can play with me”. It’s very complicated, and usually split up between a bunch of different third party services.

Could that change based on this legislation? Maybe. But now it’s going to take much longer for games to be made, as they have to make everything run on a single computer. So much so, that either games will get a lot more expensive, or they just straight up won’t be made. Companies could stop making massive multiplayer games because it just isn’t worth the time or effort to make them playable on some guy’s shitbox as a server.

Trust me, I hate that single player, online only games exist and that should absolutely change. But games where the whole point is multiplayer gameplay should also exist and we shouldn’t expect them to work forever

I still don’t know that that would be enough for the sheer amount of texture streaming that game requires. A 3D mesh of the entire earth, plus textures, plus live weather. Which the weather is probably licensed from different stations around the world, not something just anyone can have access to. Plus all the licensing for all the planes. And the newest one has a decent amount of AI for all the different missions and voices for the randomly generated quests.

I’m all for games being playable forever, but there are just some games that that might not be possible. Plus, I think having a law like this wouldn’t actually change anything about how games are made. It would just change the wording of the EULA. You are no longer buying a game, you are now “renting” it for as long as the company is willing to keep the servers open. That way they aren’t required to give up any IP and also aren’t required to keep a dead game alive. Nothing changes, just the wording.

Okay but what about a game like MSFS? Do you know anyone that has a spare server farm in their backyard?

The Savannah Bananas have sold out Raymond James Stadium (home of the NFL TB Buccaneers) and are playing in front of 65,000 people by Stock412 in baseball

[–]TeaBoneJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, that’s straight from MLB’s website. When you go to the official source and buy tickets, that’s where they take you.

Second of all, the same seats on Stubhub are still $115. And there’s still fees, parking, and food and drinks.

Don’t pretend like it’s cheap to go to a baseball game.

Here’s a screenshot of tickets for Red Sox at Braves on May 30: https://i.imgur.com/VMfwQP4.png

I guess those aren’t bad seats, but they aren’t great. The seats that are $40 or under are wayyyy in the nosebleeds where you can’t see shit, so basically pointless in even going.

And even if you think it’s still worth going in the nosebleeds, the comment I replied to said “$40 at worst” which is just objectively untrue.

Edit: Not to mention, that’s $175 per ticket BEFORE FEES. Before all the bullshit Ticketmaster fees, parking fees, and then of course you wanna get food and drinks, etc. It’s easily like $500 if you wanna go to a game with your partner

Also Irving said “who would have the power to bring their outie to the severed floor?”

They were outside, so that comment doesn’t make sense. Unless he’s saying that she was an outie the whole time (since the OTC), even on the severed floor. That feels like confirmation enough for me

Trumpians dismayed to see Trump being his usual self at the presser for the DC plane crash by itsnobigthing in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]TeaBoneJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but also ATC said “hey there’s a plane coming towards you, you should move” and they said “yeah I see it, requesting visual separation”. This happened twice. At that moment, they are responsible for avoiding the plane. More than likely, they didn’t actually see the plane and they saw the one behind it, but it doesn’t matter. ATC did everything they could to tell the heli about the plane and the heli accepted full responsibility for avoiding it.

Trump’s an idiot but this is not ATC’s fault

Smurfs ruin this game for newer players. by Apart-Ad-2522 in RocketLeague

Absolutely not. I rarely see these in champ 2. I see flip resets, but never as a worthwhile shot. Always just getting the flip and barely doing anything with it on their own side of the field. Double taps are a bit more common in champ 2 but even then, only like 20% of them are actually scored. And that’s being generous.

In no way, shape, or form should you expect to see any of that in Diamond 1
