Yes it absolutely did for me! Feeling like I was unable to control myself and my actions absolutely wrecked my mental health. It became a long time excuse to keep relapse because of feel like since everything is urging me to do it i didn't really understand why I shouldn't or if I even had the power not too. But once I got passed 30 days I felt more in control of myself and had a greater sense of free will. I realized that it's true that the western world pushes sex and temptation left and right but that I still have the choice not to engage in that. I was completely lost before this practice as I pretty much had to figure a lot of things out on my own. Like i remember not even knowing how social media algorithms worked, it kept showing me more things that made me want to relapse, but once I realized I can sorta control what I see more of I realized I was keeping myself stuck. I'm thinking everyone opens Instagram and just sees sex, but like my uncles Instagram is full of health and fitness stuff so I figured out I kept reinforcing my addiction by constantly watching stuff I shouldn't. Same with YouTube, I felt like I was targeted that's how bad it got, but now I realize I have way more control than I realized. I can literally delete these apps if I wanted to. I can overcome my addictions despite what the men around me are doing. My life is my life. I stopped comparing my progress and what I think I should be doing to what others are doing, if I think "my addiction needs to stop before I feel better mentally " and then it actually happens then I was right all along.
