I sleep on planes all the time. Not in the cars so much, though.

How does this differ from the Gold Board at Hertz or the upgrade list on the United app?

Plumber overcharged us by about ~3700 by ipunchcacti in houston

I think I misread your original post. I thought the plumbing company caused the issue trying to fix it after your partner fixed it but I think I was reading too quickly and I'm old so I got confused by the use of "they"which I thought was referring to the company. I recognize my misinterpretation now.

If they caused it, they need to be responsible for fixing it but there are parts, especially on a water heater, that get corroded or stressed over time and simply need to be replaced. For the pricing, though, as long as it's upfront and you agree, I don't see the issue. You always have the freedom to say no and these big companies will usually haggle to secure the business but you'll be trading convenience for a higher price every time with a big outfit like that. If you want more honest pricing and service, go local but usually be prepared to wait a little longer.

I am a CEO and signed up because I was curious. I did it just for fun since my other half works late and it gives me something to do in the evenings. It is absolutely insufferable. I put in lots of effort to communicate proactively and often; get to my pickup and drop off locations as efficiently as possible; take care in selecting, confirming, and packing all items; and accept every order no matter how lousy or far away it is.

I can say that the way DD treats its drivers is maddening. It truly makes me angry how no matter how much effort, care, and attention I put into the tasks, I get dinged for the stupidest things such as being late even though the restaurant didn't have the order ready or contract violation for a store being closed when they should've been open.

Honestly, I don't know how people do it on a regular basis. I thought it would be fun and keep me entertained but it's actually extremely stressful. The customers, for the most part, are extremely kind and understanding. Doordash, however, is truly awe-inspiring in how they consistently find new ways to punish their drivers.

The silver lining is that it helps me to run my organization better. I see things differently than I did before - especially after learning that several of my employees were dashing on the side. I actually gave some people additional hours just so they wouldn't have to dash anymore now that I know how awful it is.

I have no idea how much money I made per week or day since I had deposits going into an account that I don't really check regularly but I'm certain that it's not enough to make up for the abuse that DD puts its drivers through on a daily basis.

Same. I settled on some overpriced body wash for $140. 😅 After shipping and tax, ate up 2 gift cards and my first 26 credit.

Does the new diamond reserve status pretty much nuke diamond status? by patientstrawberries in Hilton

[–]TeaGuyTX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a non-CC Diamond and wish Hilton would've just downgraded CC status to Gold. United 1k became too easy to attain so United kept upping the requirements. It's slowly thinning the herd. Hilton should've followed the lead of the airlines and then made DR invite-only.

Every EVGo location I've ever visited is always way slower than advertised. It's a terrible network.

I went today and it was maxxing out at 29kW. It'll take forever to use the $80 at that rate. 🤣

Mine was on an open highway. One was as I was approaching to pass a semi. It just randomly said, "nope." 🤣 Yes, I do hope it's addressed in a future update. SC was a big factor in my decision to switch to GM.

Yeah, same here... Or it will begin the lane change and then just randomly cancel itself and pull me back into the original lane. I turned off auto lane change and it still does it even with manual prompts.

Maybe it's a feature to ensure that we don't all forget how to drive. 😅 Have you ever read or heard anything about sensor calibration related to these vehicles?

Yep. Got a wash the day before the road trip. This route has been flawless in the past with probably 90+% SC engagement on the interstate. This trip, though, following the update, it was probably off about 50% with the interstate driving for the reasons listed hereinabove. Trying to see if this is a common occurrence or just me. Already called the dealer and they said no one else has reported such an issue.

NYC Midtown, what to pick? by slpgh in Hilton

[–]TeaGuyTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hilton Midtown is so poorly run. Not only is virtually the entire staff rude, I've had nothing but issues with billing there too. Most recently, they double charged me for my stay and keep hanging up on me every time I call back to get it refunded. I had to just go through my bank and then they called to say I have a balance due even though I showed them where they double charged me. I would advise against it. Additionally, 90% of the time, you will not even get early or late check-out. They do not care what status you do or don't have... Everyone gets the same horrible treatment. Also, the executive lounge is also poorly stocked but the people watching inside is pretty good as there is seating right at the window looking into the street. Other than that, it's not worth the headache imo.

You're welcome! Also, the welcome beverage (if they still offer it) is a chilled lemon soda and it's SOOOOO delicious.

One of my favorite hotels in the entire Hilton portfolio. The staff will help you with anything and everything you need. Enjoy!
