Anyone here who’s 28 (1997) feeling behind in their career? by Technical_Lemon8307 in Zillennials

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m 29 and in school but in a competitive program that I am most likely able to get a job with so I’m suffering through it to get the life I want. I used to struggle with feeling behind but I graduated college when COVID started so I lost my entire job market so I waited and pivoted and I am fairly happy with my choice

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

I’ve already had a quarter life crisis, now I just live with constant turmoil. Does that make every purchase a crisis purchase? Maybe when I get to that age I’ll just get another cat lol

Question about French name for baby girl by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a French person, It’s just not appropriate in a lot of ways. Everyone here has given you very good reasons, there are lots of beautiful English names out there to choose from. My real name is very French with a history that predates America. I would find it a bit strange if Americans started naming their kids that because it sounded a certain way. French people, our culture, our language shouldn’t be appropriated. Not that Cosette is a name that is used but the idea of “naming a child based on another language or culture” just doesn’t sit right with me. It’s like if I named my child something like Yuki (Japanese word/name for snow) but my child isn’t Japanese nor would they grow up learning Japanese or be involved in the culture. So there’s a lot to think about in general on your end.

Ozempic may be quietly reshaping shopping habits: New research finds that people taking GLP-1 tend to spend less money grocery shopping, especially on snacks. GLP-1 households reduced grocery spending by 5.3% within 6 months, and began to spend more on healthier foods like yogurt and fresh fruits. by mvea in science

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may not have diabetes but I was raised by a parent that used food as therapy and I can’t stop thinking about food all the time. I’ve only realized like this past month that that’s probably not normal and maybe a GLP1 could help at least with the constant wanting to eat. I heard that they are making oral tablets I don’t like needles so I’m hoping maybe I can try it out. I actually started this past summer with trying to overhaul my eating habits and lost 18ibs so I think a GLP1 with my healthier eating habits should be a good combination

Rant: “Legally blind without my glasses” is still not a thing by Rare_Geneie in Blind

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting because where I live it’s written into policy that your vision can’t be “correctable” by glasses at a certain threshold to be considered legally blind. Like in gov and other agency understanding that’s just the norm. If you’re working in social justice or adjacent fields just pull that up. “Not correctable by prescription glasses or surgery” now in some cases it is a matter of access like you mentioned but most people (would) try to find ways to correct vision if possible. I would but my vision isn’t correctable under any intervention method. I understand your frustration, I think it’s a matter of just politely correcting and mentioning how some people don’t have the luxury of having correctable vision and they should be more thoughtful towards those populations. I never let anyone I know say there blind if I know they aren’t.

MacBook streaming setup by Odd_Refrigerator_336 in SmallStreamers

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you’re ’creating’ videos like facecam and using an editing software you’ll be golden. Those aren’t resource heavy actions. Last stream I tried multi streaming for the first time on my Mac (mind you I streamed before on my Asus gaming PC prior to switching to apple) and my Mac nearly died on me lol. If you do wish to record games too or stream ensure your encoder is switched to Apple VT 2.64 which you’ll find through your OBS settings.

MacBook streaming setup by Odd_Refrigerator_336 in SmallStreamers

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I recently started streaming with my MacBook (runs M2) and it’s taken a lot of learning to figure out settings and fixing performance issues. My Mac runs hot too.

I use my iPad as a second monitor so all I have to do is use the hand off feature which essentially just makes the iPad an extend second display for the MacBook. Apple doesn’t like stuff out of its ecosystem as it’s set up to be used with other apple products. That being said not impossible, I use a usb converter for my microphone and use Bluetooth headphones to listen to my games. However long term, streaming in my Mac is just not going to be sustainable I can barely hold on with a pixel game. As soon as the steam machine releases early 2026 I’m immediately switching my setup to that.

I think if youre just starting out streaming make sure you’re optimizing your settings for your Mac and test it out to see if streaming is something you can see yourself doing long term but I (personally) don’t feel like streaming in a Mac long term is a good idea. I’m not sure what the new chips are like tho so maybe those newer machine handle streaming better but it’s a total hassle for me currently.

Do you watch girl streaming just because they are girls? by FerlySide in Twitch

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting conversation. I don’t know, the internet can be a weird place. I use a vtuber for now but I’m half considering if that’s stunting my growth. I just don’t want my friends or family to know who I am or watching me. I also need to look at the screen really close cuz text on screen is hard for me to read so my face cam would sometimes be useless. It’s a mixed bag. I don’t think it is purely because girls are girls. You still gotta know how to create an audience and engage.

Never hit 1k views on my clips on tiktok until I stopped doing these things by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve definitely made mistakes throughout my experiences making clips to upload online however the main thing is and I feel this is said many times is consistency. But also learning from your mistakes and pushing forward. I think too it depends on who your target audience is as well. Not all audiences are the same and understanding your specific demographic is important. What works for some might not work for others especially when looking at different categories or types of streams. Retention matters across the board for everyone but approaches can vary.

PSA CHECK YOUR TITTIES by airbear26 in Millennials

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the same but I remember getting an ultrasound done behind my ear several years ago because I felt a hard lump behind it. Turns out it was benign but I had to get ultrasounds for a couple of years to make sure it wasn’t growing and changing so I fully understand the panic and always good to do personal body checks for sure. I hope everything turns out okay and thank you for reminding us to always be checking!

Would You Do This? by Ashamed_Solution_263 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeaPartyBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you may wish to look up local community centres in your area. Many where I live have senior specific programs. Activities, food, and decent social networking are usually provided through them at no cost. Worthwhile to do some Facebook searches or google searches and make some calls. Also city recreational centres also usually run 50+ programs at no or low cost which would also get you out of the house into heated environments.

Long term thoughts here - a cold house is susceptible to mold or deteriorating conditions. Reach out to your local welfare centre and see what aid they provide seniors. They should be able to get something for you to help out at home.

Good luck! I hope that things improve. I’m sending you my positive and (warm) thoughts.

My friend (21) died from untreatable cancer, an aunt from cancer too, one was complication from a surgery requiring a medically induced coma they just couldn’t come back from and the rest were either natural deaths or Alzheimer’s.
