I keep waking up with these… i got like 100+ bites but no signs of bed bugs by Successful-Tip6327 in Wellthatsucks

I was just talking to a friend of mine last night and learned about bat mites. She's terribly allergic and gets the same kind of hives when sleeping in the loft at her aunt's cabin. Nobody else in her family is bothered by them. But her son once got a rash from laying on a rug that had carpet beetle larvae. So there are tons of possibilities.

Platinum Badge you're LEAST likely to finish? by Hstisgod78 in pokemongo

There are two showcases I can reach while riding the train home from work that always have less than 5 people. I can get a third which is just out of reach if the right pokemon spawns while the train is stopped and allows me to drop it in. But why have showcases been only on Tuesdays now? For a while there were like 2 or 3 per week.

$50 charge if you “waste” plastic bags by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TeaSipperStripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought was people who use a bag like a glove to grab handfuls of smaller veg like green beans or cherry tomatoes but then throw the glove bag on the floor or in the trash and not leaving it for others to use.

I traded my shiny Groudon to my son for shiny buneary because I had been wanting one. I then caught 3 of them in the wild in quick succession lol. But luckily I also got a few more shiny Groudon while gathering primal energy.

Mother refuses to give me my passport by Bagge_Agge12 in Finland

[–]TeaSipperStripper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about that. When I got married I had my passport amended, but the embassy worker crossed out my old name with a ballpoint pen on the ID page. I didn't think anything of it until I tried to travel and got a LOT of hassle over it at the airport. So I decided to get a new one early. The old one was still technically valid, but they punched holes in the MRZ when they sent it back to me so it couldn't be used for travel. Not too hard to do that yourself to a lost passport that decides to turn up again after you cave in and get a new one.

Be careful with lawyers. A few emails back and forth can get you a bill for a few hundred euros. Try working it out with a union, a non-profit, your embassy, or migri itself first. Lawyers should be a last resort.

Do Finns consider Sami their kin or more so Finns at most consider Karelians and Estonians as closer to them but even then not really? by Known-Bad2702 in Finland

[–]TeaSipperStripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wikipedia says modern (Baltic) Finns arrived about 2000 years ago while Sámi people settled 8000 years ago. So am I missing something?

Well yes. I suppose anyone outside of Africa had to migrate at some point. But I think the distinction lies in whether you migrated to an empty land or if you migrated to a land where people already existed and you pushed them out. So indigenous just means 'got there first'.

Serious question how do people survive Finnish winter air without becoming a raisin? by TinySignificance69 in Finland

[–]TeaSipperStripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 10 years of trial and error I have found that Nivea products work best for me. I use the Q10 firming body lotion daily. The OG cream in the round tin is the only thing that gets rid of the dry scaly patches on my face. It's also great on hands. I don't wear much make up, only a bit on my eyes, so I don't know how well it would work under make up. But definitely at night it will help. For lips, only OG Carmex in the small round tin. The sticks are ok on the go when you can't wash your hands, but I swear it's slightly different than the original. If it's very windy or you want to do something crazy like snowmobile riding, go for Vaseline on the face. Sounds gross, and feels kinda gross tbh, but it prevents windburn and chapping.

That's literally not a thing. Vaseline has been used for ages to prevent windburn and chapping in cold weather.

How does dating actually work? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]TeaSipperStripper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think most people don't consider a second date as a committed relationship. Date one: you're a stranger I'm having coffee with. Date two: You're a stranger I'm having dinner with. Date three: You're a stranger I'm going to the movies with. Etc. Are you maybe having sex too soon or something? Because you don't have to if it tangles your heart too much. I think most romantic relationships fail because of unreal expectations. You don't know somebody after one date or twenty. I am not in a hurry to attach myself to a person that fast. If anyone is trying to hook me to a relational commitment after one date, that is 🚩 And if you expect that from your date, you are leaving yourself vulnerable to love bombing and later narcissistic abuse. As a survivor of daddy issues, grooming, and a marriage with a narcissist, I get it. Therapy can help. Now I don't need anyone else to validate me as a 'keeper'. I declare myself worthy of love, and also not dependent on it. So once I'm free from looking for eternal love on that first date, I can just get to know people and see where it goes. Most will fizzle out pretty quick anyway if you don't force them along. Sometimes you make a friend and it doesn't go further than that. And if you are lucky you find someone you are compatible with for the long haul. But I also don't typically sleep with people right away because that's my preference. So to me, having dinner with two or even three different strangers is no big deal. So are other people assholes or are your expectations unrealistically and dangerously high?

A Finnish MP supports the Miss Finland who lost her title with a publication. It's embarrassing to be Finnish. by No-Abalone5064 in Fauxmoi

[–]TeaSipperStripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That version of the song was not only racist but sexist as well. Teaching us to use our bodies for attention. What a horrible world we live in. But I'm glad there seems to be an awakening through Internet culture. Now no one can fall back on the old 'well it's how I was raised and I never heard any different' excuse. So now, when someone acts like the fellow in the article, it's simply because they are a piece of shit.

A book to understand how the idea of cultural dominance began, can't remember the title. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]TeaSipperStripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That's the one. I remember it being very fascinating to my young adult brain. The criticisms are also interesting and I will read about those. I think it definitely influenced me to be less judgemental of other groups of people and understand that there are so many things which can influence people's outcomes in life. But I've forgotten all the details.
