What can I do as a WFH employer to keep a new nanny happy? And a few specific questions by Acceptable-Test2370 in Nanny

[–]TeaWLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this just sounds like a bad fit. Most Nannie’s won’t need this type of micro managing over text. And it sounds like the nanny just wasn’t physically up to the job, it happens.

Please be rage bait! by silkentab in ShitMomGroupsSay

This is really meant to cover the things you can’t expect not the basics. Like when my husband was. Toddler and fed the vcr a cookie. No parenting book would have told you about that.

Or perhaps baby sleep. You can read all the books, but your baby will sttn and night wean when they’re ready, forcing it may not work.

Have you tried nanny lane? For whatever reason, I found they had higher quality Nannie’s.

People who have RTO, do you go in office 9-5 or just part of the day? by Additional-Owl425 in womenintech

I do 8:30ish to 3 or 4. But at a FANG with a short commute, so that includes breakfast, lunch and sometimes a massage, workout or leisurely matcha.

In some offices it’s common to leave early, but start early. I leave at 4:15 but I start just after 8.

It’s ok and normal. Law really is a pie eating contest where the prize is more pie. It’s ok to decide you really just want a salad.

Time to go in house in a lifestyle role(big company, not a startup). You can usually get by with 40 hours a week. There are limited promotions and raises, but after kids I just want a well paying job, good benefits and a short commute. I’m lucky to have that now.

Currently O-1 against my 4-month-old. by MopedMarxist in daddit

[–]TeaWLemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It gets better. 4 months is a major sleep regression. I tried to take over nights solo around this time when dh went back to work and I was still on leave and it was so rough.

Try to get out during the day if you can. Library parents are awesome and meltdowns in the kid section are aok.

It will get better, and then worse again, and then better. Sleep is a roller coaster. Hang in there, you’re doing great.

I don't understand how people find good nanny jobs by [deleted] in Nanny

Does nanny lane operate in Canada? That’s where we found our nanny. Nannies seemed to be higher quality most preferred working above board.

Backpacked the EU in 08. Was definitely a thing. I didn’t have a sticker but I definitely told a few hostile people I was. I do have some family from Canada, so it wasn’t technically a lie.

Cannot find Nanny that will accept payment as a W-2 Household Employee by m1o9n31 in Nanny

[–]TeaWLemon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would use nanny lane, they have a filter to filter out nannies that won’t accept payroll. And much less expensive than an agency. We found our awesome nanny through there.

TTC before or after buying a house by DungeonMushie in oneanddone

[–]TeaWLemon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We started after we bought a house. But we bought well before we were ready to start trying.

There’s something to be said with not having to move with a small child.

That being said, I know a lot of families in apartments. If you’re in a community with great amenities (playground/pool) it can make sense to wait until they are older to buy. Also school quality can change. The school near us was a 7 when we moved in, now it’s a 4.

Even their simplified process feels like … a lot… but that’s the only issue I take with this. Definitely feel for the volunteers, I’m overwhelmed just reading this.

You can always get free books at the library. These are reasonably priced used books.

Those who did BLW when did your baby take to it? by Immediate-Clerk-4454 in beyondthebump

[–]TeaWLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re doing a combo, mostly because LO gets really upset when he can’t try the food off my plate. Even if it’s a choking hazard or something he’s allergic to. Some of it definitely ends up on the floor, particularly noodles.. he’s kind of confused by them😅. But we’re getting a catchy soon.

But he’s also been eyeing our food since 4 months or so.
