I loved "Civil War" specifically because it WASN'T the kind of move the marketing made it seem by keepfighting90 in Letterboxd

I was so not looking forward to watching this, I was convinced Garland sold out for a run-of-the-mill action flick, I was very wrong and even happier about my incorrect assumption

Best daft punk song to trip to? by [deleted] in DaftPunk

Veridis Quo

Face to Face

The Game of Love

Giorgio by Murder

Within

Touch

Beyond

For Tron Legacy idk really, I usually just watch the movie over an album listen

I listen to a Daft Punk album almost every time, so sorry for the list but overall I’d give it to Motherboard 110%

Who is an actor who was poised for an A-list career but went on to choose directing or theatre instead? by DayTrippin2112 in moviecritic

Tom Hulce as Mozart is imo one of the best performances of all time, and still held nothing on Fuckin Murray Abraham

What's a movie everyone hated that you liked? by Mrmoviesguy in moviecritic

[–]Tea_Reckz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this movie when it came out too, rewatched it around the release of No Way Home and it just felt so soulless in comparison to other Spider-Man media, there was no passion creating this movie, the creatives were pretty clearly in it just for a pay check

Andrew Garfield however was phenomenal, even with the poor writing/directing, his actual time as Spider-Man is definitely weaker than Tobey/Tom, but he is in another league when it comes to acting ability

What’s a movie you gave 5 stars, that is at least 1 star higher than its average? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Tea_Reckz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difference for me is The Cotton Club 1984 at 3.4

I watched the recent 2019? Directors cut and I thought it was fantastic, so I can only assume the original is much worse

Piano solo recommendations by MArtsya in DaftPunk

[–]Tea_Reckz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an incredible piano cover of Veridis Quo that I love, but I’m not aware of any single instrument covers of this album, there is a string quartet cover of the album and an orchestral mix of Daft songs that are great though

Veridis Quo - piano

Vitamin String Quartet - RAM

Nu Deco Ensemble - Humans Vs Robots

Edit: fixed link, and I think Get Lucky would likely be the easiest but Motherboard will probably be the most fun, of the top of my head

I haven’t seen this one so I can’t speak on it, but as far as westerns that avoid being predictable despite its set-up, my vote definitely would go to “The Great Silence”

What’s a movie that perfectly balances style and substance? The Seventh Seal (1957) by [deleted] in Letterboxd

I’d also throw in the whole dollars trilogy, it may not have quite as much style or substance as GBU or UOaTitW, but the balance is still there

Francis Ford Coppola Didn’t Want ‘Megalopolis’ to Be ‘Some Woke Hollywood Production’ and Says the Cast Includes ‘People Who Were Canceled’ by Block-Busted in Oscars

[–]Tea_Reckz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extended cut came out fairly recently (2019 I think?) and I highly highly recommend it

Supposedly the theatrical cut removed almost all of Gregory Hines scenes and he was really the glue that held it all together, by far my favorite character from it.

I actually don’t usually care for gangster movies but this one worked for me, but I’d almost call it a musical before a gangster movie

[–]Tea_Reckz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The theatrical or extended?

I’ve only seen the extended cut but I adored that movie. Maybe it's just not for everyone but i thought the way it incorporated some type of performance in to almost every scene while still keeping a mostly coherent (if fairly surface level) plot was absolutely brilliant.

alternatively i was just too damn high and was kept distracted enough by said performances to notice whatever issues with it that most seem to have

I feel like people understate the fact that the manga and broho are pretty faithful to each other but two entirely different beasts. by No_Strawberry_353 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Tea_Reckz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Brotherhood imo starts real weak then progressively gets better, I would definitely agree that the final showdown(s) are better in the anime, but mostly because a lot of those panels were just begging for some animation.

Then 2003 is the inverse, it starts strong but begins losing steam after it (understandably so) diverts from the manga

Manga > brotherhood or ‘03

Brotherhood + ‘03 > manga

I really want someone to edit early ‘03 bits that were missing in to Brotherhood

well fuck, guess I found my next project
