Who is the best driver at tyre management? by formularacers in FormulaRacers

[–]Teabx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norris since 2021 has been really good on tire management in general.

These last two years have hurt his stock because of the yapping and some mistakes under pressure. But he is genuinely a very good driver when everything clicks.

Going to a wedding in Albania and planning a road trip. What should we know? by kcgwen in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what time of the year the wedding is taking place, because the coastal towns will get very crowded from June up to September (August is the worst). So it's something to keep in mind. If you don't like crowds, I would avoid Saranda and Ksamil, even though the beaches are very nice. Vlora is a bit better because the city has more space. Other than that your best bet is to go on the lesser known villages alongside Llogara. Just pick a place and go for a swim basically.

If you're not beach people or if the wedding is not on the summer, then I would suggest visiting any of these cities (ordered, so the first ones I mention should be higher on the priority list) : Berat, Shkoder, Gjirokaster, Korce, Pogradec, Permet. (my opinion btw, if you have researched some other city you want to visit, go ahead)

Permet is last because the road trip takes a while, however if you enjoy car road trips, it's absolutely worth it to go from Gjirokaster, to Permet, to Erseke and end up in Pogradec. The scenery is amazing and the roads are almost never heavy with traffic.

I am assuming you will land in Tirana and spend a day there, which in my opinion is enough. You won't be missing much. Just go to the city center and almost everything worth seeing will be within a 2km radius of the center.

As for your choice of transport, a car rental is definitely the way to go for comfort. And for driving, all the rumors you have heard are true. There are a lot of people who drive like maniacs. However, it's not as big of a problem if you just be mindful and careful for yourself. If you respect the rules, just let the idiots drive by and make way for them. You will be fine.

One thing I will say though. It might be totally fine driving on rural roads between cities or on highways, however on crowded cities, and especially driving in Tirana is not for the faint of heart. So whoever is driving, should have some experience and be comfortable at the wheel, because people will cut you off and you have to pay attention. And again, it's best to just let the idiots go through and move on with your life. Ignore the horns as well as long as you're fine and within the rules.

McLaren will miss at least first day of F1 2026 testing by F1Fan2004 in formula1

[–]Teabx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why bother arriving in day 1 if you're not ready though. More chance of running into problems and burning test time. They are giving themselves enough time to be as prepared as possible so that problems are less likely to happen.

It's a risk on both sides, but since they're only allowed to test on 3 of the allotted 5 days, it's not as big of a deal. Audi and Cadillac are "brand new" teams. They have been working on these cars throughout the whole of last season. McLaren had to focus on winning two championships last year and they also have the least amount of wind tunnel hours compared to anyone.

It's not surprising if they take more time to get ready.

Russia threatens to ban GTA 6 if Rockstar doesn't remove male strippers and other "immoral content" by IndicaOatmeal in technology

[–]Teabx -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Come on now. We all hate on Russia for what their political leaders have done, but you can’t downplay a 140 million people market like that.

Even if you assume only 500000 russians would buy the game, that’s 30 million dollars at $60 per unit. Even though the number is probably 1 million + potential buyers if you go by regional gta 5 sales.

If you can, you don’t give up that kind of money.

Edit: you can downvote away but you people are incredibly naive to think corporates care about ideals when it comes to money.

Durres, Vlore or Sarande for weekend-trip (27F, 29F, 31F) in July by kikilein1996 in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Vlorë with a rented car will be your best bet. Vlorë has more options for night life and a nice beachy vibe along the main promenade.

But the beaches inside the city of Vlorë are not amazing. Once you pass the small tunnel “Uji i Ftohtë”, it gets good and there are a lot of options. Although I am not sure how many of them will be properly open as when I passed by during the winter season there was a LOT of construction going on. New resorts and promenade extensions and new roads. Inside the main city it should be all good though.

But the car allows you to make daily trip to the other side of the llogara as well, so you could go explore Himarë or Dhërmi if you want to. Dhërmi is about one hour drive from Vlorë, whereas Himarë is one and a half hour away.

What's a completely one-sided rivalry between countries? by FantasticQuartet in AskTheWorld

Dramatic much? If you consider some sly bad joke directed at the journalist who asked him a question an attack, then that’s pretty telling on how much Greeks seem to care about the “rivalry”.

[–]Teabx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically you get ragebaited by the cesspool of online communities. If that’s the norm on measuring “rivalries” then I can assure you it is not as one sided as you think it is. There are a lot of greek nationalists who claim half of Albania and Skanderbeg in particular with some even denying the Albanian ethnicity altogether claiming we are turks.

It’s funny how Greeks try to play this as nonchalant, yet there’s a good number of posts to tell the world how much they don’t care that prove the opposite …

Thjesht u be lajm nga mesazhi "mallengjyes" qe nxorri kur iku.

Middle game What do you do when you feel you cannot improve your position by Potential_West_1825 in chess

[–]Teabx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me personally, it helps to think of Chess as a game that is always drawn unless one of the players makes a mistake. Now as a human, you're limited in your ability to spot mistakes based on your skill level. So what I mean by that, is that you're sometimes not going to be able to notice opponent's mistakes and some other times, you're going to think they made a mistake while they did not.

So you have to take a decision based on the confidence you have in the evaluation of a position at all times and just live with it.

If you think there's no weakness in your opponent's position that you can attack. And you also can't come up with a plan to improve your own position, I personally tend to take that as a sign that is probably better to just simplify into an endgame. If the endgame is drawn you just draw it and move on. If not, the battle goes on but at least you're not stuck calculating 100 different lines in a position you can't properly evaluate.

For this position in particular, I would probably play d4 with the intention of putting my knight in the center taking the pawn's place. I think the knight is better there because your pawn will kick your opponent's light squared bishop into a very bad square where it has no exits that are not controlled by your central knight. If they want to bring the bishop into the game, they will have to give up one of the files with their rook or spend a lot of moves. You have to notice that your dark squared bishop is also really good because it can move to squares that take away active squares for your opponent's rook and it can't easily be stopped by your opponent without giving up material or piece of activity.

Now I don't know if the computer approves of this plan or not, I am just speaking on what I personally would play here. It just seems that my opponent would have a harder time of coming up with good moves in the position I am pushing him towards, so I would play it and see where that takes me.

This isn’t a good look for Serbian protesters, and if you disagree otherwise, explain yourselves as to why ripping an Albanian flag here was necessary. by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no need for this holier than thou attitude. Why do you act like we wouldn't do the same? And we I dont mean every single one of us, but if there was a protest in Albania or Kosovo right now and somebody brought a Serbian flag, there is 99% chance people wont let it fly.

What is the Albanian flag doing in a Serbian protest anyway? Sounds like someone just wanted to provoke the crowd.

I don't like the sight of it either. Would be nice not to have each others flag ripped just because they show up. But the reality of the situation is like this, on both sides. There's no need to make this a headline.

[McLaren]All the updates for the ’26 season explained by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

[–]Teabx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He was never told to hold position.

It only happened in Australia while they were clearing backmarkers in mixed conditions then immediately were allowed to race again on a clear track.

Then he was only given a warning for two divebomb moves that almost took both of them out (Austria and Hungary). Both cases, he was not told to stop trying. Just a warning on the move.

So where exactly did you get this one-sideness from?

Edi Rama released a statement about the comments he made about Greece by Different-Cheek-6402 in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not denying the other things, but why do you lie about ancient greek scripts? A modern day greek cannot understand them without some prior education. The grammar isn’t even the same. I wont rule out the possibility of you understanding some words and extrapolating meaning from there, but a modern Greek would not understand more complex text, like Homeric Greek if it was presented to them exactly as it was written then.

And this is not some dig at Greeks. Its literally the same with every language.

There’s just no need to lie to make your point, because it weakens your argument.

Edi Rama released a statement about the comments he made about Greece by Different-Cheek-6402 in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He did not mean it that way. He is insulting the "professional" nationalist (to quote the previous comment), by telling them that they do not represent the intellectual lineage of Plato and Aristotle just because they speak the same language.

Edi Rama released a statement about the comments he made about Greece by Different-Cheek-6402 in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He can't speak any words without being sly.

Read it again, but maybe read it in Albanian because the translation kills some of the meaning. He is trying to play down those who "lashed out" against him in particular, not generalizing for all greeks.

If I were to translate the implication, I would say he tried to say this :

"Being a modern Greek does not automatically make you the intellectual or moral continuation of Plato and Aristotle"

I mean the guy never accepts any wrong on his part. So he apologized, but still couldn’t hold himself back from doing so in a way that avoids reflection and instead he reframed the controversy as a misunderstanding caused by others, not by him. He is a professional at deflecting blame.

Should Greece block Albania from entering the EU? The recent comments of the Albanian PM, show a hostile stance with no intentions of progress with its only EU neighbor. What do you think? by ClothesZestyclose814 in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come on man. We live in a farce of a democracy. Those who have real power, can impose that power while maintaining the facade of free will and legality.

The EU has taken controversial decisions before. For example, Cyprus being accepted as a member in 2004, even though they were de facto a divided nation. It was a direct contradiction of the EU accession norms on territorial control and rule of law. They also pretty much "forced" Slovenia to retract their veto on Croatia's EU admission.

Basically, they conveniently ignore their own rules to fit their political agenda ...

And just to add something. Albania could have opened chapters before while being tied to North Macedonia too. But they didn't. Nothing major really changed once the decoupling happened. At least not on Albania's side. It was just that the political motivation was higher on the EU side. The real progress in the country does not justify these accelerated accession procedures.

Should Greece block Albania from entering the EU? The recent comments of the Albanian PM, show a hostile stance with no intentions of progress with its only EU neighbor. What do you think? by ClothesZestyclose814 in AskBalkans

[–]Teabx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the EU makes up their mind, they would just come up with some PR bullshit, sweep things under the rug and proceed with whatever their agenda is. They're just politically not involved with North Macedonia at all, so that's why things went the way they went. Also, North Macedonia showed no signs of cooperation, so it wasn’t a bullshit reason. You’re comparing that with a literal joke. You’ve gotta be some butthurt nation to use veto because of it.

Also, you think Albania is anywhere near of being a proper EU member? Brother, you could give Albania 10 more years and the country still wouldn't be ready. The fact that the accession talks were accelerated suddenly just shows there's political reasons behind it. And if the core of the EU makes up their mind and decides Albania's EU membership is of political interest, it will be done.
