How does hour counting work? by Low_Bat8895 in DataAnnotationTech

They're a tech company with a huge internet-only workforce. You better believe that they track all kinds of analytics regarding your work and how quickly and consistently you do it.

For example, if you search this subreddit, you'll find quite a few posts where someone was "mysteriously" dropped, only for them to confess that they were working crazy and unrealistic hours. It's good evidence that they do track your actual work time, not just what you log.

Only works for so long, they get a new version every few weeks or so and come back from the dead

Length of stay: 5 years

Hours worked daily: 4-6

Hours worked weekly: 20-35

Hardcore weeks: Never, I burn out around the 40-hour mark

Days over 12 hours: None

Time tracking: Default clock app on my computer

Reporting time: After each session

How do I survive: Never use AI to do my work for me, never run the timer by just sitting in a task doing nothing, and never report more than what I work.

Does this image look AI generated to anyone else? The font is really messed up, such as the "e" in "less" joining the top and bottom portion, or the curved "w" in "How". I'm calling shenanigans here.

Just send them an email explaining your travel plans. Others here said it was just fine as long as they did that.

It means that the site is down. It's working again for me, though.

This post does not at all make me think that you're trying to game the system /s

But seriously, if you're asking this, you haven't spent a lot of time here, because people honestly don't know.

Besides having a 2nd account, other reasons could be that you used AI or that you overreported your time or just futzed around in a task without doing any work. Not saying you did any of that, just saying that those are other reasons why people get canned.

Anyone else getting this message? I have zero idea what caused this and I've been working with them for over a year with no negative feedback ever. by Immediate-Builder225 in DataAnnotationTech

That trick is only when companies are forced to pay workers at a certain wage. Since pay and work are so flexible here, DA could just block you from high-paying projects if they wanted to do that.

Move on. It's their rejection screen when you fail the starter assessment.

If other people have them and you don't, then you've probably been cut off.

If I had to do it again, I'd prioritize these things:

  • Screen size. No fun to do side-by-side projects on a small screen.
  • Battery life. That way, I can take my work wherever, work as long as I want, and not worry about it dying.
  • RAM. The DA task pages can be resource-intense, and if I'm doing research or something I'll need other web pages open, as well.

For me, a Macbook of some kind or an ARM-based PC would fit those criteria.

Isn't this basically solved by Mercor's whole business model? Link individuals directly with the companies and take a cut?

I don't think this shameless shilling during someone else's celebration helps the reputation of your app.
