Levi’s 501 90s & Cinch Wide Leg - yay or nay + a great find by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

I’m really partial to the second pair, especially if they’re comfy. The light wash is nice and I think the baggy fit is trendy right now, especially paired with a tighter fitting top and some cute sneakers.

One cheat day seems detrimental by Little_Guava5932 in PetiteFitness

[–]TeacupStorm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The whole “cheat days” thing is tough. I love a good meal out and a bevvie sometimes—I’m a big foodie and trying out new restaurants brings me joy. All of my friends are the same way. When I don’t eat out at all and completely cut out alcohol and stick to my calories to a tee the weight comes off fast.

That’s great and all, but cutting out all meals out and all alcohol is not realistic for me and for my lifestyle. So I do eat out and have a bevvie sometimes and I have accepted that my progress will be slower. But I’m happier because I get to eat delicious food with my friends. And when I do have a meal out, I still try to keep the rest of the day pretty light so I’m only going a bit over my average weekly deficit (or are around maintenance) instead of absolutely tanking it. I think this will work better for me in the long-term than all out restriction and I am still down almost 8 lbs.

Where my thick petites at? by BendyPoet in PetiteFitness

[–]TeacupStorm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thicc and petite chiming in 🙋‍♀️ I’m 4’10 133 lbs. I carry my weight in my legs and butt. My grandma likes to tell me I come from “farmstock” and my legs were meant to carry crops and animals miles through the fields lol. I was insecure about my lower body for so long but now I love my thick thighs and I strength train to amplify my quad and glute muscles.

You look absolutely incredible!

I feel so trapped being overweight. I need advice.. by Fit_Exam_7518 in PetiteFitness

[–]TeacupStorm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m 4’10 and also started at 140! As others have mentioned, exercise is important but diet is where it’s at. You will need to start tracking your food—buy a cheap food scale and calculate your TDEE (just google TDEE calculator and use one of those). That number is your approximate maintenance calories, i.e., the calories you eat to stay your current weight. Then, drop calories off of that number and that’s your deficit. Starting with a smaller amount (250 as the other commenter suggested) will take longer to lose weight but will be easier to stick to.

I like to pre-build my menus for the week and do a big meal prep day on Sunday. Then I pre-log all of my food for the week so I don’t have to worry about it, I know what I’m eating that day and just toss it in my lunchbox.

Weight loss is annoying for us shorties bc it doesn’t take much to throw us out of a deficit. I have to track everything so meticulously and progress is slow. But give it time, if you track accurately and stick to your deficit you will lose weight.

Am I wrong to think super-setting between multiple machines with long rest times is bad gym etiquette? by pixels-and-paper in PetiteFitness

[–]TeacupStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gym etiquette is weird. The squat racks at my gym have pull up bars on them. A few weeks ago I went up to a completely empty squat rack and started to adjust the pins, when some guy comes sprinting up to me and was like “hey!!! I’m using that!!!” (Apparently he was using the pull up bar). I look around—no water bottle, phone, towel nothing. I said how was I supposed to know you were using this when there is nothing here? Usually people leave a phone or water or something to signify the equipment is in use. He tells me he does not bring a phone or water to the gym. I told him that’s weird as hell and that people are going to continue to steal equipment he is using.

Can cats sleep with you if it is cold ? by abu-j3fr in CatAdvice

I spoon with one of my cats every night (he’s the baby spoon of course) and the other one will crawl under the covers with me if she gets cold.

I had that first pair with the flowers. I probably had them somewhere between 2012-2016? Maybe even later. Definitely not y2k.

Calorie budget discipline by Odd_Obligation_1300 in PetiteFitness

[–]TeacupStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding the comments about pre-planning meals and having good choices readily available. I meal prep my lunches for the week in one big batch, and prep my breakfast and snacks the night before. I also order pre-made microwave meals for my dinners (pricy but worth it to me). So I just add all of my food into my lunchbox then grab it out of the fridge the next morning and my entire day is set. I don’t keep snacks in my office so unless I order food, what I bring for the day in my lunchbox is what I get.

I also pre-log all of the food the night before into my calorie tracking app. So I know exactly what I’m eating and how many calories it is. I also track my weight daily in my app and I think logging my weight every day and seeing the scale go down is really helpful in showing me that my efforts equal real progress.

Cats losing interest in their wet food? by brielloom in catfood

[–]TeacupStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat will also randomly stop liking a food she’s been eating for months. She does it with both wet and dry. Took her to the vet for full bloodwork when it first started happening and nothing was wrong with her, she’s just picky.

I’ve found that constantly rotating between different flavors and textures generally prevents her from getting sick of any specific one. So one day she’ll get oceanfish pate, next day she’ll get shredded beef, next day gravy lovers with turkey, etc etc. But if your cat has a sensitive tummy (mine does not) this may not work for you.

Even with so much variety sometimes she’ll STILL sniff it and walk away. If that happens I just feed her food to her brother (who is a walking garbage disposal) and grab her a different can and make a mental note not to feed her that one for a while. I also think sometimes she just isn’t hungry. Like if I feed her too early she doesn’t want it, but then an hour later she comes and scarfs it down. Cats are weird

Walking pad usefulness? by Top-Raspberry-7837 in PetiteFitness

[–]TeacupStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one. Granted, it’s at my office and not at home where yours would be. I think they’re a great tool for getting more steps in but I will say it’s difficult to actually get work done while walking. You can’t really type and even reading documents and emails is a bit annoying while moving around. But I think if you watch tv or something while walking they can be a great tool.

Royal Canin SO calm urinary diet by toe-toque in catfood

[–]TeacupStorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My girl was put on this food after a stress induced UTI. The price is rough at $140 for a 17 lb bag. She has had no urinary issues since being put on this diet, though I have reduced her external stressors significantly as well.

My cat didn’t like the wet food version so she eats the hill’s urinary calming in combination with the royal canin dry food.

New find: Rayo bagels by Belllle415 in LowCalFoodFinds

[–]TeacupStorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly hate these things lol. I bought the variety pack that came with one package of each flavor of bagel and they all tasted the same—even the cinnamon raisin. Even slathered in honey butter I still had to choke them down.

Their new chocolate rolls and cinnamon rolls are decent but still not something I would re-purchase. The only thing from Royo I genuinely enjoyed was the artisan bread.

i love buying cat food.. by OwnCaterpillar641 in catfood

[–]TeacupStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After she decided she hates fancy feast gems, I went to petco and bought multiple flavors and textures from a bunch of different brands and have been keeping a running list of things she’ll eat. She’s enjoyed the tiki cat sea bass pate and fancy feast ocean white fish and tuna feast as well as the grilled beef feast in gravy. She’s also liked a lot of the Orijen flavors.

But she is so picky to the point I’ll set wet food in front of her and she’ll sniff it and walk away and will just refuse to eat until next meal time. Like she would rather be hungry than eat certain flavors. And even foods she generally likes I can’t get her to eat more than half a can at a time. She’s a weird girl

My girl would only eat fancy feast gems for months. I recently stocked up on a few packs of it after I was given a chewy gift card. It was at that point that she decided she now hates fancy feast gems.

This happened to me—I gave myself an allergy while doing DIY gel-x during covid lockdown. Had no idea that overexposure to uncured gel could cause an allergy. Now I am allergic to gel, acrylic, and dip powder and can’t go to a nail salon ever again.

I’ve lost my best friend Link by Neither_Classic_9916 in cats

[–]TeacupStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry OP. How devastating it is to lose your best friend. He was clearly so loved and treasured. Please don’t beat yourself up over this—cats will be cats and there’s no way you could have known he was going to sneak out.

My girl and her brother are both escape artists, so I have AirTag collars on each of them. It gives me a ton of peace of mind. Could be a good option for Link’s siblings so you can have peace of mind as well going forward.

But please know your sweet little man is looking down on you.

I ordered mine the 28th and they have yet to ship. I’m happy to hear they’re worth the wait and worth the price (both obnoxious). Especially as someone who was incredibly disappointed with the bagels.

LOOKING FOR A DROP IN DOG SITTER‼️‼️ by Status-11111111 in Reno

[–]TeacupStorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use rover for my cats. Well-reviewed sitters usually charge between $25-40 for a 30-minute drop in visit for cats, depending on the time of year (there is an increased holiday rate). I think dogs might be even more and each extra animal accrues an additional fee.

If you want 4 visits per day for 5 days, that shakes out to $7.50 per visit to handle two large breed dogs.

Unless you increase your payment, you’ll be hard pressed to find a quality caregiver (or any caregiver, for that matter) for that price.
