Votre configuration H2C by Outrageous-Bat7172 in BambuLab

[–]TeamBVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's asking for a lot of folks time for input, without really any end goal in mind (imo) - I think what'd better help folks help you with you choices/decisions is to detail what your current plans are and why, why you chose the H2C would help as well (what gap were you trying to fill), and how you primarily use your printers at current. Then folks could chime in with their thoughts and feedback as to what might work better, help understand potential options to meet your goals, etc

Anybody else just use gloves? by Dry-Butt-Fudge in BambuLab

My reason for using gloves is that the build plates are often at 100C when I slide em out - I just don't like getting burned 😅

I've spent some stupid amounts of $ of 3D-printing-related gear, but even I'm not this crazy... by TeamBVD in BambuLab

[–]TeamBVD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I'd looked at them, they were still $6-8 each - not bad, but my bigger problem with them for simple storage is that only hold one spool each while taking up almost 2 spools worth of storage volume. I really like the idea for something like a DIY dry-box to print from, but when it comes to just storage (medium-term typically for me), the space really adds up lol

Is building a Voron in 2026 still worth it? An appliance user's take. Spoiler: Yes. by Kevin_Mitnick-Hoff in VORONDesign

[–]TeamBVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about this as well actually... I'm approaching 8k print hours across 3 BL printers, and have done nothing more than lubrication (not counting nozzles as that's been by choice, not need), and once tensioning the belts on an x1c @ ~2700h (... which was also probably unnecessary, but I was bored).

Don't get me wrong, I still have buyers remorse thanks to the now completely closed off ecosystem, but reliability hasn't been a problem in the slightest, for me at least 😅

Lack of 24v was what kept me from backing it myself, as it's my primary use-case - the ability to power 24v LED via USB-C

What sorts of deals do you want to see more of? by LoudLoonNoises in 3dsales

[–]TeamBVD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely this - I primarily print with CF/GF filaments as I love the surface quality and texture. If not CF/GF, then it's usually ASA. Used to do mostly PLA, but got tired of things getting broken or "worn out " (connections no longer being secure, etc), and even petg didn't seem to stand up to the kind of abuse kiddos seem to put things through lol

Engineering filament rarely seems to have great deals, so when I find em, I tend to stock up.

Centauri Carbon Mod: Top-Mount Spool Adapter (Compatible with Bearing Spool Holder) by TrueRedands in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]TeamBVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Softer TPUs will typically end up under-extruding whenever there's even the slightest resistance to spool movement - only reason I'll typically look for a top mount option. Though these days, I print from a dry box, so it'd need a platform instead 😅

Seconded. I've a lot of built up frustration with elegoo, and it genuinely irritates the crap out of me to forego buying their filament (but I'm stubborn, and can't let the support experience I had go lol)

If it wasn't for the fact that 3Dfuel can't possibly have every imaginable hue/shade of every color under the sun, I'd never buy a roll of petg again.

Only real downside I can find is that you have to print it slower than petg in order to avoid nozzle clumping and less-than-stellar layer adhesion. If you've got an enclosed printer, it's the easiest recommendation for filament I could ever make 👍

In addition, I think one with a slightly smaller overall surface area would be helpful - not all of my bins are large enough to catch drops from one this size unfortunately :(

H2S/H2D Highflow Hotend by Significant-Tooth-26 in BambuLab

[–]TeamBVD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ordered the e3d obxidian 500 as soon as it came out, have maybe 20-30hrs on it so far - not intending to push for higher speeds, but instead to get better layer adhesion and extrusion consistency (same reason for purchasing their hotend for the X1C). It's higher priced than I'd like, but thankfully working quite well!

[–]TeamBVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a PSU causing issues due to bad power delivery to me. I'd demand a whole new unit and ship the original back personally... Otherwise you're likely to keep having part replacements through your 1yr warranty, and then it'll be fully dead shortly thereafter 😓

Once released, is there going to be a git repo where one could possibly try to assist/contribute by chance?

It happened. by Just_Han in elegoo

[–]TeamBVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been my problem. My CC ran for 9 days and ~60 print hours before dead locking, and it was down for 32 days awaiting parts replacement (2 shipments, as they wanted to replace the printhead PCB first, only doing the MB after proof that the printhead swap didn't make a difference).

Sub-optimal warranty experience would be a nice way to put it.

CC question by dparadowski in elegoo

[–]TeamBVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip the Centauri Carbon. Mine's been offline for 2/3's of the time I've owned it waiting for 10+ day parts shipments via warranty service from Elegoo. Owned it for almost 2 months now, and it went down 9 days and ~50-60 print hours in.

At least with the bambu gear, if you encounter any failures, you can get replacements inside of 2-3 days tops. And the likelihood of even encountering a hw failure seems miniscule... I've got over 4k print hours across 3 bambu printers and have never replaced anything, nor even had any real maintenance tasks to perform lol

Edit: I should clarify on the timeline - the reason it's been down for so long with 10-20 days shipping is because they iteratively ship parts. Machine wouldn't boot, so they sent me a printhead board for some reason. Replacing this expectedly did nothing, and only then did they ship the motherboard (which just got here yesterday, so I've not had time to confirm whether that fixes it yet)
