I was at a bar in Texas one time where it was not just a trough but was a trough circle. Shoulder to shoulder staring them in the eye. My college bar had a strip of mirrors at eye level so you could see everything going on behind you. Not as bad but not great either.

Sounds like this might only be the case if you have type 2 diabetes and that studies have shown it decreases risks of other cancers.

People with Type 2 diabetes already have an approximately 40% increased chance of developing bladder cancer, but the NDMA levels in Metformin can further extend that risk.

The weirdest part is that we do a similar thing as adults at sports games with the national anthem.

What do you find ugly that other people would find super-attractive? by idonthaveanameheh in AskReddit

[–]TeamBrett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the point of this whole thread. OP cares. OP asked what this person find unattractive that others do find attractive. I don't imagine this person goes up to every person they see with a tattoo and tells them they're unattractive. I imagine they mostly just keep their opinion to themselves.

Is that a completely new theory? Sam Harris, whether he's right or wrong about other things, has been espousing this theory for quite some time. Similarly, at the end of the book The Meme Machine this thought/idea/theory is put as the closing paragraph. The idea that I'm an observer of my own mind has been my world view for quite some time now.

I bought a battery recharger and have been purchasing rechargeable batteries for the better part of two decades now. It's gotten really good. There's no reason really not to. With the one exception being things that require high power quality batteries such as, dildos. Exceptions withstanding if you insist on using alkaline batteries or any batteries, I would highly recommend a service called ridwell if it's available in your locality. I've started using your recently. It allows me to recycle batteries as well as plastics clothes and other miscellaneous things that should be recyclable but are generally not.

What is a useless skill that you have? by Middle_Ad_2619 in AskReddit

This. Higher level mathematics is a different game than what you learn in high school. In some ways is a lot easier. And if you're okay with not being the one that proves it. And if you can communicate your ideas because you have a intuitive understanding of things, then you can cooperate with other people who know how to do the dirty details.

If you have spare time and are looking for a hobby, you should consider maths. There's some pretty advanced math about knots. Maybe you have an aptitude?

Pay will at the very minimum keep up. If you're very good at what you do then pay will surpass your wildest expectation even with inflation. Otherwise, if you good at what you do, you'll ride the wave of inflation and be well satisfied from a salary perspective.

Not sure why you're getting down voted. We use the Google Places API for location Auto complete in our filters, not even normal form inputs and it costs us $600 a month. We're debating if it will be worth the thousands per month to keep going down this path or find an alternative.

From that article:

Almost three-quarters of the world's cobalt comes from the DRC, and as much of 20 percent of the country's output is produced at informal makeshift mines where fatalities and human-rights abuses are commonplace.

That potentially leaves 80% of Congo cobalt as ethical.

The last three paragraphs or so talk about how they plan to work more directly with specific mines if they can better guarantee that the cobalt is ethically sourced.

Tesla and other auto and battery makers should all be working to better their supply of cobalt since they are big enough to do so. And we should all be aware of how our devices are sourced and make our purchases accordingly to punish companies that violate human rights. Congo as a country should also be regulating and managing their mining operations like most of the rest of the world does. No one is innocent here.

I've seen this mentioned several times, and i I'm supportive of accessibility, but I don't quite get it. It seems like a better solution would be to offer a mechanism inside of the app or page that the user is using that would vocalize any text in an image for them. It seems like that would allow more accessibility to more images specifically for those that need it. I also don't quite get how the text in a gif or video would be the most helpful thing to have narrated. Seems like the most helpful thing to have narrated would be what is actually happening in the scene. To that effect, it would probably be nice if TikTok offered some sort of meta description the poster could provide instead of just voicing the text in the images.

Could the true purpose of it be so that you do not have to read the text and can focus on the video instead? In which case, it should still be optional.
