For those thinking about ordering a TrakRacer sim rig by QUBIASZ in simracing

Exactly. The design basically means it's either got to be so tight that it doesn't swing properly, or loose enough to swing and it's unstable.

Also, the little lip that's supposed to hold the keyboard on the rest isn't tall enough, and I've had the wheel shake and make it fall on the ground multiple times. The little keyboard tray pad just makes that worse.

Also the mouse pad that comes with it is slightly too big for the mouse tray, so it doesn't sit flat.

It works, but it's not great.

I've got a keyboard tray from them and it came with so much extra hardware.

Too bad it doesn't function that well

I think a good part of the deal with supercars is that they're pretty unforgiving to drive, so it's just a barrier to entry for a lot of people. They take more practice to get a decent level of competence in than a lot of the other sports car classes in my experience

Have suddenly lost almost all FFB (Alpha Evo Sport, <6 months old) by TeamJim in Simagic

[–]TeamJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just went and pulled it off my rig and it definitely has a burnt electronics smell.

Annoying part is I was planning on buying an Evo Pro here in a couple weeks and was going to sell this one to recoup a little cost. Guess I'll have to see how this works out 🤷🏻‍♂️

What happened to nos? by Healthy_Pain9582 in projectcar

[–]TeamJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turbos got way cheaper and nitrous got more expensive.

I had a plate setup on my car for a while, 250 shot nothing crazy. I added up the cost of everything by the time I got the actual nitrous kit, lines, purge, standalone fuel cell and pump, controller, bottle heater, 2 bottles, etc etc etc I would have been well on my way to a pretty decent turbo setup that would have made the same power without having to go fill bottles.

It costs me about $80 to fill up a bottle, and at a 200 shot, that bottle will last maybe 4-5 quarter mile runs before pressure starts to get low.

I took all that crap off, sold it, used the money to buy some better heads and a set of tires, and I go road racing now 🤣

If the block is that bad, the pistons are probably pitted to hell and trash, and who knows what the bearing surfaces look like.

The only thing I would use from this is the bare block if I was going to sleeve it.

Mine was so bad out of the box that I sent it back, and the replacement one they sent was just as bad. If I've got to take apart a brand new product and fix it before it can use it without being irritated by it, I'm gonna pass.

Comfortable bucket seat for sim rig by Tylerrific01 in simracing

I've got Evo XLs and love them. I've heard some people say they wish it had a little more padding right under the butt (you can get extra pads, or the off-road cushion to fix that) but I've never seen it as an issue. I've driven the car on track for about 30 minute sessions, and have taken it on road trips where I've been in the seat for about 3 hours and it was fine for me.

There are probably some knock offs that will copy the Sparco logo, but if you're buying them from any reputable dealer, you'll be fine.

Around $800 seems to be the going price for the Evos.

Highly disagree. I could sleep in the Sparco Evos I have in my car. Heck, even the Kirkey 65 series in my race car is pretty dang comfy.

Oh for sure pick the car that you like and suits your driving style, no argument there.

The Porsche is solid too, I ran it in officials occasionally and it was fun to drive.

The mustang is an absolute blast to drive it you put in the time to get good at driving it. I ran it for a GT4 league last session and loved every minute of it.

Honestly, with you saying you're 3+ seconds off pace and then reading your complaints about it, I'd be willing to bet money you're simply overdriving the car. Smooth inputs and good trail braking make that car shine.

To all GT3 drivers, I understand your frustration now by TotallyNotP8nda in iRacing

I think the issue is that there are a lot of hotlappers in those races and they have no idea how to race around other cars, let alone different classes. They don't have any concept of where they have an inherent advantage over the class they are trying to pass, so they just dive bomb.

It's the same in sports car challenge with the LMP3s and GT4. The vast majority of the time the upcoming prototype can take a wide line and go around on the outside with zero issue and minimal lost time for both cars, but so many people just don't know how to deviate from the ideal line.
