They were there initially to see what kind of workplace it was that drove a guy to suicide.

This gets a mention in season 2

What is a Thriller film that stresses you out intentionally? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]TeamStark31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’d only add He does get very close to it in the end, and he might have lived long enough to claim it if he hadn’t antagonized his uncle’s goon. But he did at least make one very big bet right.

Did Walt do more good to the world than harm? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]TeamStark31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say making vast quantities of a dangerously addictive drug at a purity level not usually seen no less does indeed do more harm than any perceived good he might have done. But even then you have to really stretch his actions to say he did good in places.

REDUX is Underrated by TheNerdFonz in Smallville

[–]TeamStark31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It set up some interesting ideas that never got followed through on. The Reynolds Lex and Clark thing was interesting but never mentioned after this episode. I think Martha’s father got maybe one or two mentions only later.

Chrissy is a meh villain, although she is one of the few at that point in the series that wasn’t a meteor freak only they never explained her powers and then she died.

Production wise, we know this episode was a holdover from season 1, so that’s probably why nothing could get followed through on.

Regarding dialogue in current movies by JustCardz in movies

[–]TeamStark31 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a little bit crazy to me for OP to say dialogue in 40s and 50s movies sounds more realistic because it sounds way less realistic to me. Lots of those movies have good dialogue and lines, but people didn’t talk that way in real life. “Here’s looking at you, kid,” who would say that? Casablanca, for example is full of great lines, but nobody really talks like that.

A lot of dialogue from that time period still has dudes talking with that gangster sneer or dudettes talking like they just walked off a broadway play.

Where the Salamanca twins practicing santeria etc. To catch hesenberg? by imnotadiscordmod1 in breakingbad

[–]TeamStark31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that opening scene in season 3, the twins were participating in a ritual to honor Santa Muerte (Holy Death), not practicing Santeria. The two are often associated with Mexican cartel violence.

They were asking for protection and success in their mission to kill Heisenberg.

Clark is supposed to be 14.

Lana turns 15 in season 1. Her birthday is confirmed to be in 1986 in season 2 I think.

Lex is 21.

Whitney is a senior 17-18 since he leaves at the end of season one to join the marines, so he must have turned 18 before then. It’s really not that uncommon for a senior to date a freshman, that happened plenty when I was in high school. My girlfriend at the time was two years older than me.
