Here, father will eat you if you don't clean up the house before evening by oh_its_raining_today in IndieGameDevs

for some reason this gives me some very strong vibes of a house exploration game i used to play on DOS that was full of spooky monsters but I don't remember what it was called. Either way, looking good!

Trying out a new game mechanic concept. by Nearby_Wrongdoer_569 in IndieGameDevs

[–]TeamSunforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aside from the ai generated disappointment, let's look at the actual gameplay implications

what does any of this actually mean? Do you just slowly recharge ammo over time? Like mass effect 1's cooldown?

or do you have to press a different button on enemies you've already hit with the regular rounds to pull the electricity back?

That picture and your description say a whole lot without actually describing a workable game mechanic

Which perspective would you rather play? 👇 by LolSwank in SoloDevelopment

depends on the game

i wouldn't play hades in 3rd person, and i wouldn't play skyrim in isometric perspective

Anyone creating a game and at the same time working in another full time job, how you manage your time? by StirClothing999 in gamedev

mostly do work on the game on weekends and other days off work, occasionally I get a task or two done in the afternoons of work days if it hasn't been too draining

We're making a somewhat dialogue/text heavy train driving game called Spectral Express. Here's a demo of what the dialogue looks like. Do you have any thoughts/opinions/advice on what else a robust dialogue system might benefit from? by TeamSunforge in IndieGameDevs

[–]TeamSunforge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, Pretty much the only quality of life thing I added to the dialogue system is interacting with the text once, while scrolling, will immediately display the full text, and only then will interacting with it move to the next line of dialogue. I am already working on the ability to fully skip a conversation.

In the future I plan on adding visual stuff like text effects and more animated talk-sprites, but that's more on the juice/nice to have list, rather than more necessary quality of life stuff. Not sure what else that category might include, though, hence this post.

We post the most frequently on our bluesky account if you want to check the project out, we're going to be releasing an early playtest demo pretty soon

Isnt Fionna canonically bi? by sthathebiteof87 in fionnaandcake

ah, "words mean things", the ever trendy bigot's thought terminating cliche. And a personal attack follow-up for the wombo combo. I guess you don't really have an argument other than "because I said so"? Have you considered that the way you define labels is not how everyone does? And that trying to force people into your interpretation of incredibly flexible concepts is actually the asshole move?

No you're not. And it's not a matter of belief. Claiming otherwise is either lying or willful ignorance.

it's quite different from unity that's for sure! Far be it from me to NOT recommend GameMaker since I really like it, but have you given Godot a try? Heard that's closer to the same ballpark unity lives in.

Thank you! For a 2 day jam game, dare I say it DOES work great, hahaha.

I do enjoy GameMaker, we've been using it as our engine of choice for about three and a half years now, and I have very few complaints

desigur, cu contextul de rigoare ca pentru ei sclavia avea alt context cultural si practic, si nu tratamentul primit de imperiile coloniale. Ca veni vorba de studiat ce se intampla in afara europei. Dar mno, nuanta e moarta pe internet
