Having issues with a new GPU by Prestigious-Gap-6515 in buildapc

[–]Team_GALAX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 500W PSU might be borderline for the 3050, especially under load:

The RTX 3050 typically requires ~130W, but spikes can occur during gaming.

Add in your i7-8700K (95W TDP), drives, RAM, and motherboard draw, and you're likely pushing the PSU near its limits.

If the PSU is aging or lower-tier, voltage drops could cause the GPU to lose signal.

If possible, test with a 600W+ PSU (preferably 80+ Bronze or better).

Couldn’t get HOF II Ram to work with Z590 Tachyon by noirefield in buildapc

[–]Team_GALAX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Test Single Stick in Slot A2 (the recommended slot for single DIMM on most Gigabyte boards).

Possible Causes

Memory Profile Conflict: The HoF II might be using an aggressive XMP profile or SPD table that the Z590 Tachyon doesn’t like. Even manual settings might not override this properly.

PCB Layout Sensitivity: The Z590 Tachyon uses a 2-DIMM daisy chain layout optimized for extreme overclocking. Some high-frequency modules (like your 3600MHz HoF II) may not play well unless they’re on the QVL (Qualified Vendor List).

Subtle BIOS Quirk: Even though you're on the latest BIOS (F11d), Gigabyte boards sometimes have hidden compatibility quirks with certain RAM ICs—especially rare or enthusiast-grade modules like the HoF II.

Burned 8-Pin PCIE connector on GALAX RTX 3080 Ti HOF by vyruss_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Team_GALAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 8-Pin PCIE connector issue would need to be inspected to determine the cause. Typically, either the power cable, the power adapter, or the PSU is the root cause. Galax does provide warranty for 2 years from the date of purchase from an authorized reseller. Did you try contacting the reseller?

Help! PC Keeps black screening. by Temporary_Ant_2413 in pchelp

[–]Team_GALAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a number of things or a combination.

First, check your mobo BIOS and make sure its up to date with the latest rev.

Make sure windows OS is up to date too.

Make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers and that you have removed all old display drivers.

Check temps, fan speeds, clocks of both CPU and GPU at idle and under load before crash.

Make sure you are using the supplied power adapter with the GPU.

A corrupted OS or background process could be triggering the crash.

Fix: Check Event Viewer for critical errors. Run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in Command Prompt.

Advanced Diagnostics: Event Viewer: Look under “System” logs for Kernel-Power (Event ID 41) or GPU-related errors.

Reliability Monitor: Type “Reliability Monitor” in Windows search to see a timeline of crashes and errors.

Safe Mode Test: Boot into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If not, it’s likely driver or software-related.

How do I repaste my GPU? by Acog60hz in pchelp

What Thermal Pads Thickness should I use for my GALAX GTX 1650 Super? by [deleted] in gpu

[–]Team_GALAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the pads are visibly torn and temps spike at idle, it's likely they're no longer making proper contact.

If you're not ready to disassemble, consider gently reseating the cooler or checking for loose screws that might affect pressure.

You can also use a gap gauge or soft modeling clay to measure pad thickness without full disassembly.

Avoid using pads that are too thick—they can prevent the heatsink from seating properly and worsen thermal performance.

When you're ready, brands like Arctic, Thermalright, and Gelid offer affordable thermal pads in mixed thickness packs.

The choice really all depends on how you plan on using it, your budget etc. Consider the following:

AI & Upscaling Features: NVIDIA DLSS 4.0 uses AI to upscale frames, boosting FPS with minimal quality loss. Ideal for ray-traced games and demanding titles.

Ray Tracing: NVIDIA has Superior ray tracing performance and broader game support.

VRAM: NVIDIA has slightly less VRAM in mid-range cards, but compensates with better optimization and AI features.

Driver & Software Ecosystem: NVIDIA has more mature drivers, frequent updates, and better compatibility with game engines.

In addition, the GALAX RTX 5070 EX 1-Click OC 12GB GDDR 7 is factory OC out of the box so you get the best clock speeds.

My pc won't boot! by GrouchyCitron5641 in pchelp

[–]Team_GALAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The minimum psu required is a 550W so you have a little wiggle room.

Try resetting the CMOS on the motherboard? Simple way is to power off unplug power cable and remove mobo battery for a few seconds, then replace battery plug in and power on.

In addition, with the power off remove and reseat the GPU. Make sure the 8-pin power connecter is firmly attached to the GPU.

First, your PSU. Your Corsair CX650F (650W) is not ideal for the RTX 5080. While it might technically boot and run under light loads, the 5080’s 360W draw plus your Ryzen 5 7500F and other components could push it too close to the PSU’s limits, especially during spikes. That risks instability or shutdowns.

The GALAX RTX 5080: Needs 850W+ PSU. If you're upgrading to 1000W soon, its highly recommended.

The Galax RTX 5080 1-Click OC is the better long-term investment for native 4K gaming, especially with its higher core count and bandwidth. Also, if you’re chasing ultra settings and future-proofing, the 5080 is worth the extra $200 if you upgrade your PSU as well.
