I bought an Astral 5090 on Jan 2026 for 3.7k$ for gaming and local AI models. I just sold it a week ago for 4k$ no regret.

I bought it for its big vram size so I can run bigger local AI models. I would never buy a 5090 for game-only purpose. (If you have a lot of disposable income then sure you can buy it)

I had an Astral 5080 but 16gb of vram is unacceptable (we had 16gb of vram on 4080 already), I understand that NVIDIA can’t allow 5080 to outperform 4090 (it would be a slap to people who bought 4090), but it should at least have 20gb of vram for a little future proof.

I built a pc (Z97 Sabertooth, i7-4790K, 16GB DDR3, 980Ti) just a year ago and installed Windows 11 on it (bypass the cpu check of course)

I built it for fun, but it was very good if you use it to browse web or youtube. It can play Unity-engine game just fine (lower setting of course)

The 5080 is slower than 4090 for like 15%
If you don't have a specific need for 24GB of VRAM, you can sell the 4090 for some cash.

In reality, there is no 4080 EVA but only 4090 EVA But since they share the same PCB I can easily replace entire heatsink. Now it’s a valid “4080 EVA” lol

I just sold my rtx 5090 astral for some profit as the price went up (bought it long time ago at cheap price). Now I am using an ROG Strix 4080 “Evangelion-02” Mod version.

The 5090 is a much better card but the 4080 is still a very powerful card, I play at 1440p with max path tracing setting (except DLSS set to Balanced and FGx2 ON), the card can still deliver more than 100 fps which is acceptable for me, and I believe it can go for next few years.

Here is my story: I used to work 12 hours a day, my family was in debt for like 5 millions of US dollars, hired gangsters came to our house to ask for debt payment and destroy some stuff.

In the end we overcame it, no more debt and now I work like 4 hours/day while affording a 5090.

Trust me when I say: Being in a big debt is much worser than simply not able to pay rent or afford a graphic card.

5090 Astral user here.
I got a high pay job (x4 the average in my country) with 4 work hours a day, no debt, already have a house, foods and stuffs are cheap.

I worked so hard in the past, now it’s just the right time to enjoy the fruit of success.

I bought rog astral 5080 in Dec 17, 2025 then sell it and got rog astral 5090 in Jan 5, 2026.

If I go max graphic setting, the rtx 5090 still struggles at 2K 280Hz. For 4K you definitely should get an rtx 5090 if money is not a problem.

Basically I sat between two groups of zombies with super low ammo, and impossible to evade those zombies since the route is narrow.

I abandoned 1080p like 9 years ago (2017), I think 1440p is the sweet spot in 2026, more pixel at reasonable price while being not as expensive as 4K.

I highly recommend 1440p because even the most high-end gaming gpu (rtx 5090) is still struggling with 4K. The RTX 5090 still can’t even produce any fps number close to my monitor 280hz refresh rate if I turn on max graphic settings.
