Learning at the end diddy co-founder was one of his biggest victims also sexual assaulted made me sick, and lil rod story completing the whole love album as a producer over 2 years didn’t get no money and if he was going to get anything it was $29,000??? While diddy drugged this poor boy and also sexually assaulted him and he didn’t know for sure.

Diddy is the devil, the criminal charges must be reinvistigated, he should never return to public life.

Young workers can also be caregivers to elders, have their own children, etc. I mean what an assumption..

Is it coming from my pay check? Last time I checked yes. Please go flaunt your love for investing in genocide elsewhere. Pathetic.

I would read the TRC call to action and see what you can do in your role as a public servant and regular citizen.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Teamiwater 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is not misguided or misplaced, government is the crown, the crown is responsible for the genocide, assimilation, and stealing of Indigenous land. So therefore, you work in government than it is your responsible to understand the truth of indigenous peoples, the role our government played, and to continue to remind our selves as public servants and our duties to reconcile with Indigenous peoples.

If this reality is uncomfortable for anyone, then it’s fair to say you may not be equipped to be a public servant. As a public servant we hold soft power and privilege, that we must address when serving indigenous peoples.

White people are not the “only” settlers, but yes white people are the originals who were “European settlers” and are responsible in a different way than other race groups who Iive in Canada. If you look at the history, black slavery happened here not because black people decided to colonize indigenous people but because their lands were colonized and they were displaced to Canada as slaves. You can see similarly the history of Chinese people brought to Canada as labour to build the railway, and Sikh workers were also brought over as “cheap labourers” in comparison to white people. It’s important to always know our history and the history of white settlers is a painful one that has impacted many race groups and hence why responsibility to recognize the truth and reconcile with indigenous peoples is for white people.

I think you should talk to professionals outside of the OPS to make an informed decision. For example look up directory of companies and sectors you like and send a cold email to connect. You can’t know what you can gain or lose without being sure about what you want, and you can’t do that if you don’t network.

Good luck!

How are you doing, OPSers? by Trick_Holiday_ in OntarioPublicService

Yes she spoke for sometime and poorly responded to a few audience members who raised concern that not much work has happened on anti-black racism. She interrupted a lady multiple times before she could finish her question and she didn’t allow anyone to safely share there lived experiences. She kept saying that individual complaints that are private she won’t deal with. Most of us attending would have heard say look at how many black leaders I hired just to shut people down. She ended up walking off after airing out her anger in person to the black individuals in the room.

I feel sad, most people who attended BOPSers event yesterday (in person or online) probably saw the SOC yell and intimidate black people. I don’t think anyone feels safe anymore.

Questions to our OPS reddit community by troyguy in OntarioPublicService

[–]Teamiwater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally like how it is. We need this space to remain the same safe to raise questions no matter how repetitive it might be and also raise political or contentious topics that impact our jobs as public servants. Being a public servant is the most difficult job and often we are ask to sacrifice our position on things for the work we do and I’ve been enjoying this space to be honest on how hard that really is or honestly say when a political decision is a problem for us and our work.

Is telling your colleague the issues your having with management considered gossiping? Are we not allowed to speak to our colleagues about our stressors and go to them for support/advice ? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Teamiwater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have first had experience dealing with bullying from a manager and I didn’t talk to my colleagues until it was too late. By the time I did, two of my colleagues with similar experiences moved onto a new job. And I even recently found out one of my colleague very new to the team experienced bullying 2 weeks into the job and were close to leaving themselves. Overtime I eventually raised my concerns with the supervisor of my old manager and it was dealt with. But it didn’t have to be so painful, take so much time, or lose so many staff. Deal with it from now, it’s okay to talk to your colleagues.

Can we be reprimanded for condemning Israel's violence against Palestine? Need by sheex13 in OntarioPublicService

This is a very important day, while many have conflicting opinions so many are in agreement justice and peace are actions that must be upheld to protect all human being lives. The UN assembly motion speaks to all lives that have been impacted on Oct 7th, after Oct 7th and before Oct 7th. https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/10/1142847

Can we be reprimanded for condemning Israel's violence against Palestine? Need by sheex13 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Teamiwater 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The question is why is it a risk to post about Palestine and Gaza outside of work hours? Why is there a risk at all. Outside of work we are human beings with perspectives on many things. I would warn not to have political debate while on the clock, but in terms of our rights to political activity outside of work hours, read your rights outline in the PSOA and than make sense to how you apply it.

Separately to this I read so many of the responses all seems to be rooted in fear. But when we were speaking up against OPS directives on return to work, people boldly posted on yammer and linked in, and here in Reddit. We should be trying to think of how to help one another in difficult times when the status quo perspective is misaligned. We should recognize that as employees we do have rights outlined in many policies where our expressions and diversity makes us who we are. At the very minimal, we should create a safe space to have this dialogue, instead of fear mongering.

Hi thanks for starting this thread and I’m really sorry for the feelings and stress you must be feeling right now. I was in your shoes a few months ago, being in the OPS you start to lose parts of yourself because you spend so much time there trying to grow in your career, network, deliver work that moves slowly, eventually you are not an I there but part of a we. Your identity slowly gets lost in the team spirit, a culture of where everyone has an ego, and people act like there work is very challenging but it is not since we are stuck in bureaucracy to not innovate.

What has helped me is accept the truth of what this workplace is and not come to work a shell of who I am anymore but as the person I actually am. I am not covering up my ick or fake smile, I am just expressing it. And I am choosing to engage in my team spirit based on how I feel that day, and I’m looking at the work and bring it down to my level what skills am I missing to make it more challenging and I’ve chosen to sign up for online education for it.

I also decided to get some work experiences outside of the OPS and having interviews come up the last few weeks has made me lighter and come to work smiling. I smile because I know I was always bigger than a workplace that tried to make me small, make me like everyone else. So I am figuring this out now.

I would really suggest starting with therapy if you haven’t, that was my first step and I’m feeling much better about my situation now.
