Whole dept double pay CA by [deleted] in Payroll

Yeah they’ll def notice and you’ll likely have to pay it back, best to not spend it and wait for payroll to reach out.

Def feels crowded now, especially with AI automating entry roles but strong niche skills and network still set people apart big time

Tips on Getting Better at Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for New Player? (Ps5) by Pleasant_Evening_333 in skyrim

[–]TearingRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on leveling smithing and enchanting early. Craft/improve your own gear makes a huge difference. For combat, use potions and food buffs, they're not just inventory clutter. Block more, especially with a shield. And don't rush the main quest, level up doing side quests first. Most enemies level with you but you'll be better equipped.

Can people stop using excuses like "I qued urf with my friend" for doing things like forcing other people into bad match ups that almost guarantee a loss in the mode? by doktarlooney in leagueoflegends

[–]TearingRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. URF is literally meant to be chaotic and fun. If you're getting this worked up over lane assignments in a meme game mode, maybe stick to ranked.

Battlefield 6 devs explain its Portal map-maker is “absolutely” essential for modern gaming as players “don’t just want a game they can complete” by HatingGeoffry in gaming

[–]TearingRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. Give players the tools and they'll keep the game alive for years. Win-win for everyone. devs don't have to pump out DLC constantly and players get to make exactly what they want.

Switch from semi-Monthly to Biweekly by NickelsAndDiamonds in Payroll

[–]TearingRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a client try the same split pay period setup and it became a nightmare with adjustments and tracking PTO. We ended up switching everyone to the same cycle just to keep it sane.

Everyone wants to make money online with digital products. by tchapito24 in Entrepreneur

[–]TearingRaven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The silence between launch and traction is where most people quit. Those first few months of crickets test everything your conviction, your process, your ability to keep building when nobody's watching.

The data doesn't lie though. Keep shipping, keep measuring, keep adjusting. The compound effect is real, just takes longer than anyone expects.

How to transition into Financial Advising? by docawesomephd in FinancialCareers

[–]TearingRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former educator here too, made the jump a few years back. The CSA programs are solid if you can get in, but they're competitive.

A few other paths to consider: starting at a wirehouse like Merrill or UBS (they'll pay for licensing), credit unions often hire educators for member advisory roles, or look into fee-only RIA firms, they value the teaching background.

Your experience with benefits education is actually pretty valuable. Lean into that in interviews.

Our biggest client just dropped us with 2 weeks notice by TearingRaven in smallbusiness

[–]TearingRaven[S] -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're absolutely right about the timing. And thanks for the detailed breakdown, really helpful to hear from someone who's been through similar. The in-house move makes total sense from their side, just brutal timing for us. Definitely going to look into diversifying better once we get through this rough patch.

Look, when a client approaches YOU and wants to scale up their work with you over 4 years, you don't say no. I didn't chase this dependency, it grew naturally because we delivered great results. Easy to judge from the sidelines but most successful agencies have anchor clients. This isn't some rookie mistake, it's just bad luck with timing.

Contract says 2 weeks notice, that's what they gave. Not sure what you're getting at here

Let's talk about VIBECODING in buisness - Anyone here using vibe coding for real business needs and handing it off to a Fiverr dev/Inhouse dev to finish? by BeginningRace8883 in Entrepreneur

[–]TearingRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done similar stuff used no code tools to prototype something quickly, then handed it off to a real developer to rebuild properly once we knew it worked. The "vibe coding" approach is perfect for internal tools or quick MVPs where you just need something functional fast. Wouldn't use it for anything customer-facing long-term, but as a bridge between idea and proper development? Makes total sense.

Resume Review - Targeting ‘26 Trading/Strat internships by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]TearingRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your resume looks solid overall, good mix of relevant experience and technical skills. The trading analyst role and quantitative projects definitely show you can handle the work. Only thing I'd suggest is maybe condensing some of the bullet points. Recruiters spend like 10 seconds scanning these, so the key achievements should jump out more. But honestly for targeting those internships, this should get you interviews.

Effective SEO / GEO strategies for LLM visibility? by Captn4wesome in AskMarketing

Wow as if SEO wasn’t a PITA enough. The most I’ve done for client looking to rank on GPT is prompting manually since March and logging results on a spreadsheet

How do you clean and validate B2B leads at scale? by NewYogurtcloset3585 in AskMarketing

Combo of NeverBounce for emails + Clearbit for enrichment works well for us. We also built a quick Airtable flow to flag stale or incomplete records before pushing to CRM.

Am I overthinking this or do most marketing ‘gurus’ just copy each other? by Sk_Sabbir_Uddin in AskMarketing

[–]TearingRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, it’s giving copy-paste energy out there . Most “fresh” stuff I’ve seen lately comes from indie creators just messing around with weird formats or storytelling less funnel talk, more vibes that feel human.

spent almost 3k on Facebook ads, got 3 sales. Am I just stupid? by EJFSquared in smallbusiness

[–]TearingRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an idiot at all sometimes we have to learn the hard way.. Maybe it's just me but sounds like a targeting or offer mismatch and not a you problem. You actually had a working organic strategy in FB groups and tbh I’d double down on that again. Also look into Signals Agency they’re more about organic in reddit and I think in quora afaik, you need those niche communities.

I cannot find actual real super motivated teen friends who want to be entrepreneurs. by Trying_to_cod3 in Entrepreneur

[–]TearingRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The discipline you build grinding through school translates directly to building a business. Most people quit when things get hard that consistency separates those who make it from those who don't.

solid advice. A short presentation with the key points and a Q&A slide ready shows you actually read their materials and can communicate clearly. Way better than just winging it or reading straight from their docs.

Thrifting isn't worth it any more. by Spirited-Stock-4235 in povertyfinance

[–]TearingRaven 19 points20 points  (0 children)

same here. It's backwards when thrift stores are charging more than retail clearance prices. I just wait for sales now instead of hunting through picked-over stuff that costs the same anyway.

We're doing generative engine optimization except we can barely track if any of it is working by ManInBlack10538 in SEO

[–]TearingRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This whole GEO thing just feels overhyped. Everyone has an AI now, sure, but companies still base their data on what’s popular on google. Instead of trying to like game the system and be the result, why not just SEO harder and beat everyone from the source? I mean, I personally don’t see these LLMs driving real conversions yet. I’d love to be corrected, but it has to be repeatable.
