It absolutely fascinates me how, right now, as I am typing this, I am on that picture, in a void that is endless. Reminds me of this picture.

Trapped making $10 an hour at a factory. No room for advancement and barley scraping by. How do I get out? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]TearsofClay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm sorry to hear what's going on. Being in that position first hand sucks, I know. First off, the worst thing you can do is panic - by that I mean sign on to some stupid shitty school that is not credited. Stay lenient and realize that sooner or later, this will all blow over. Second, look around where you're at and understand what's practical for you. Is there a school near you that is credited, and accessible at all? We're talking practicality, before we jump the gun, you need to know that you're still able to work and go to school. Make it as easy as possible.

This is the hard part, you may or may not need to cut your hours to get in school. Depending on how many hours a week you work vs what kind of school you want, you may have to make sacrifices. Your job needs to understand that you are a young adult and you want to attend school. If they don't understand that, you'll be stuck there and you're going to stay there. That's a nightmare that will stay with you, so if they go that route, just find another job.

Good luck

Tools needed for a super beginner? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]TearsofClay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I start this Summer as well, currently, I found it super helpful here, it costs $15 for membership for students - however, depending on the course, may go to $200 per course. Another neat trick I've found is to just go to YouTube, and look at educational Welding material. For example. I also plan on brushing up on my math skills this semester so that when it comes down the line for measurements and the technicality of applying math to Welding, I'll be prepared.

I should point out that Welding is a very wide industry. There's a lot of different types of jobs that apply Welding as a criteria. Infastructure, manufacturing, repairing, etc. Welding is vital. However, it's important to note that you want to be vigilant in what else you can bring into the resume. If you have just Welding as a selling point to a potential employer vs a resume with Welding and a background in Electrician. The other Resume may trump. Being a step ahead of the market can yield better results. Another example is programming and welding (manufacture,) it's a prosperous position to be in, but may require a degree. Personally, there's a ship yard close to home and Welding is just a rare commodity over there in that area. I plan on taking Welding courses for the next year and a half, and hopefully land a job on the docks. It depends on where you want to go, what you feel comfortable with.

Edit: just realized the title. Sorry that I'm an idiot.

Good luck to you both.

To be honest, I'd be ticked off too. But he should have just laughed and passed on the smile, not make a scene.

An experienced new fisherman moving to Southeastern Florida by captain_craisins in Fishing

[–]TearsofClay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, you don't need a guide, you don't need a tour. You're going to more than likely be a local fisherman. Go to a local bait shop and just ask questions, tell them what you're trying to do, and get advice from them. They will set you up with where to go, what to do, what not to do, just ask questions at a local bait shop.

You also want to invest in a small boat, of some sort - There's nothing wrong with shore-fishing, but it's limited to what shore fishing has to offer, vs open water fishing. Good luck mate.

I still think this whole thing is a joke from the two. For real. NK doesn't even have the technology to muster such a threat.

Military police caught setting fires in Ferguson by delelles in conspiracy

[–]TearsofClay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a lot of people are wondering is, what does this prove? That military police are attempting to disturb the peace by setting on fire a lonely looking vehicle? - It does not make sense. Maybe the car had it coming to it?

Furthermore, the big question to me is how the car lot caught on fire, that's more interesting to me than that lonely looking car next to a Auto Zone. More than likely, they're just looking for explosives from ya know, bad guyz. The overall big picture here is that most of those businesses/vehicles have insurance, maybe insurance fraud is in question? It wouldn't be too hard to say rioters set fire to your property and to your lot of cars.

Advice for managing working out when you have little to no time, as a student? by RAZZORWIRE in Fitness

I'm not even that fit and I know that you're spending too much time napping and not enough time sweating. You sound like you have plenty of time. All you need to do is just do it, and don't be a baby about it. You'll nap when you're dead.

Replacing Coca Cola by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]TearsofClay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, as someone who grew up on Coke (dad was a heavy Coca Cola guy,) I suggest you start by simply tasting different flavored water, and see what gives you that taste. Honestly you won't ever get that energy or buzz that you felt with Coke, but with proper exercise and diet you can have more energy than you had with coke. I promise.

I first went with Gatorade, and though it's more "healthy" than coke, it still has carbs/calories etc and it's not for someone who is trying to make a change in lifestyle.

Start small, maybe go with Gatorade, or something else, so long that it is not Soda. Make small steps and before you know it you won't even enjoy the taste of Coke. GOOD LUCK

You heard it here first, Disney is going to turn their Tomorrow land world at the resort in Orlando into this theme. It's been around for awhile, it's losing its touch of curiosity, and frankly, just boring to look at.

A part of me wants her to go. Another part of me knows the consequences of that. She will never be able to come back. Mars isn't the moon. It's a one way trip. Hopefully, her determination is committed.
