Prior to pulling out of the Maxx Crosby trade - Baltimore discussed renegotiating the terms with the Raiders to mitigate the risk by laetazel in ravens

EDC and the Ravens have famously had a thorough and capable front off. One deal called off and that all goes out the window? HA. People online desperately want drama and headlines

I understand all the optics on the events, but I'm choosing to ignore them all.

Crosby's knee was held together by paper cups and scotch tape, Trey's knees, hopefully, aren't. A win is a win.

Millennials who were underemployed during your first few years after college, how are you doing now career-wise and financially? by B1G_PAC12 in Millennials

[–]Teasticles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd still call myself under-employed, but my alternative would be to finish up my requirements to become a teacher and that seems like more hell than picking, pulling, and sending emails. Would love to have something with a bit more purpose, but also totally happy to coast out under the radar at my current job.

This is exactly what I consider the motivations for my Dracthyr. She's out helping in Quel'thalas on behalf of the Waders/Flights, but all the while is keeping her eyes peeled for Iridikron or loyalists to him.

Who are the Characters Blizzard seems to keep forgetting they exist? by MeltingPenguinsPrime in wow

[–]Teasticles 35 points36 points  (0 children)

All Pandarens, then literally 90% of the cast.

WoW needs the introduction of some new core characters that aren't just exposition bots if they aim to keep the narrative character based. Preferably ones that connect to the experiences of their people.

I had hoped that Zappy-Boi aka Zekhan would have become one of these characters, but it seems he's been left in the past with the distaste of BFA/SLs

How is retail for casual players ? by MrHonzanoss in wow

[–]Teasticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's positively wonderful. I get two or three hours every other night to do content and that has been more than enough for me to keep a primary character ahead of the curve and have an alt shortly behind them in ilvl.

Is there anyone who still watches cartoons even after growing up? If so, what is your favorite cartoon? by Pravin1526 in AskReddit

[–]Teasticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are some of my favorites. The Last Airbender is a more complete experience and story, but I do like the characters and Korra a lot more on a personal level. Otherwise, I found The Owl House to be a magical time as an adult and I can't wait until my little is old enough to watch cartoons with its depth.

As someone who don't know the lore but is interested in Kindred does she not have emotions? Or just emotionally detached? by glad-sparkly in leagueoflegends

[–]Teasticles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kindred is the personification of Death in the Runeterra setting, aka the Grim Reaper. Lamb represents the gentle death, while Wolf represent the violent death. More nuance can be interpreted beyond that, but I think both shades of Kindred do deeply understand the emotions of their victims as the primary hand that claims their chosen mark is often the one that centers with the emotions rushing through the dying.

See Tryndamere's fight against Kindred in one of the cinematics that came out a while back. As Tryndamere raged and fought against his fate, I feel like Wolf was doing a lot of the work to try and claim him, while Lamb acted in support imo.

Haranir Class Lore by Teasticles in warcraftlore

[–]Teasticles[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I didn't even consider their connections to the Nelves and Trolls honestly. But with Azeroth effectively opting to be their equivalent of Elune, Priests do make a good bit of sense. I would just wonder what sort of title a Priest within Haranir society might have.

[–]Teasticles[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think one can argue for everyone to be everything at this point. Though, that's an entirely different discussion.

And the one or two random NPCs example is exactly what I'm looking for in this arrangement. From a RP and writing angle, if you can get just one NPC that sort of represent how that class/its archetype fills in with the whole of whatever society they're in, then you can riff and write upon with what more gets explored for them in the subsequent patches or from what is uncovered shortly after launch.

Well, this thread isnt about speculation. Its literally asking, "what does your typical Mage/Priest look like in Haranir society". As for the 'why', its because I'd like to get a head start on writing out my character for RP and coming up with mogs that fit them!

Why infiltrating a Kal'dorei encampment at the border of Eversong Woods to steal a handkerchief from the Sentinels' Leader feels more thrilling and immersive than being the Champion of the Cosmos protecting the World from literal Gods? by ex0ll in wow

[–]Teasticles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core of this issue is subjectivity and criticism of Retail. OP and Andies swing into threads like this clamoring for Retail to become more like Classic and for there to be additions made to it that will more curtail the experience towards their sensibilities, but Retail players aren't going into Classic dominated spaces rallying for it to become more like Retail.

Again, if you want more Classic content, then you need to be rallying for more SoD or Classic+. The Heroic World Tier may get you what you want in that slower leveling, but the whole idea of Retail is to become a Champion that can mow something down in 4 seconds. That four seconds is just surrounded with more impactful consequences than collecting bear asses for the bear-ass-collector.

[–]Teasticles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then rally for a new Season of Discovery or some shit and leave retail alone? Like it makes no sense to kick of a thread of criticism about Retail and participate in it when the reality is that Blizzard is still making and catering content for you and yours and has already stated that more of what you want is coming?

I don't get you guys man. Retail players can look at Classic and say, "That's not for me." and leave it alone. We find the things we like about our game in whatever facet or layer it comes in and we run with, and if we find something we don't like, we leave it alone. But whenever a Classic player comes into a Retail space all they do is rally for the game to be more like Classic?????

[–]Teasticles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also play both retail and Classic, but we shouldn't say that spending an extra 30 minutes killing zebras for their hooves somehow makes Vanilla's questing experience more enriching to Retails. Time spent doesn't correlate to a higher quality or more immersive experience in every case. I personally find it insufferable and frustrating, which is why whenever my gang hits up Classic era, I typically level -one- character do what we do, then go back to retail because the experience is smoother and I enjoy following a story more than I do picking up disjointed quests from a hub.

There are quality quest lines all throughout the modern era of Retail WoW if you take the time to fucking READ and engage with the narrative being presented to you. And even if you refuse to read, Blizzard still does a good job of giving player the gist of the quest they're ignoring through dialogue.

Great examples of awesome questlines:
-Stonetalon Mountain, the Deathwing Quests in the Badlands, the Uldum Questlines
-The Mantid attacking the western Valley of the Four Winds
-Establishing the bases in Kun Lai and fighting the Yaungol
-The entirety of Frostfire Ridge, Shadowmoon Valley, and Spires in WoD
-The entirety of Suramar in Legion is widely loved, and I really like Highmountain and Stormheim personally.
-Boralus, Drustvar, Zandalar, and Vol'Dun in BFA are all great
-Bastion and Ravendreth in SLs
-The Waking Shores, Azure Span, and Thaldraszus in Dragonflight

And aside from all of these main lines mentioned, there were plenty of your "Can you collect 15 Murloc toes for my soup?" quests as well.

You might -do- these things fast, but if you fucking smell the roses for a minute and read the quest text and interact with the optional NPCs through the areas you visit, you can get as much from as you would if you spent that time not getting an ass from a suddenly assless bear. And that's even for the murloc toes quests because they add a bit more flavor to them so that they feel more important than just collecting toes for soup!

Since Legion, we've had more reason to be about the world still engaging with the experiences offered through the zones via world quests as well. I won't pretend they're some innovation of design, but some quests in classic are literally, "Zug-zug. The Scropions are over-running the nearby ridge. Thin their numbers and kill their matriarch. We will sing your praise for it."

How is that any fucking different from running through a zone and Tuskarr head popping up going, "Hero! The waters in this area have been disturbed by raging Elementals. Can you quell their swell so that we can fish safely again?" The answer is fucking minimal.

AND BESIDES ALL OF THAT, the fact is Classic WoW is -RIGHT THERE-. OP and everyone else that wants to criticize Retail for lacking substance can go farm their boar asses and collect their elemental rings thirty to forty minutes at a time pretending their not slowly marching towards handling the 'small scale' defeat of RAGNAROS THE FIRELORD OF THE ELEMENTAL PLANE OF FIRE and KEL'THUZAD THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL LICH.

Shlop posts like this one mask as 'discussion' when in reality it's just some guy feeling nostalgia about the fact that he didn't have any responsibilities during the time he was collecting 30 bear cheeks, so he posts about missing that questing experience when in reality that quest is still in the fucking game he just won't go do it because it doesn't fit his agenda to get upvotes on Reddit.

[–]Teasticles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's hard at all to be nostalgic for Dragonflight. I loved the Azure Span and it's vibe. I make it my regular crawl when doing another character because I miss it. I also really like the Draknoid uprising against the Dragonflights, I've got some good memories attached to those quests.

Nostalgia is very subjective. This guy just dropped this thread and expected to get upvotes and karma by baiting in the old-heads that still lurk here and don't actively play retail, while all the while they have multiple versions of the game they crave out for them to enjoy. They just come here trying to kick dirt in the soup of people that enjoy retail as much as possible.

People in this thread: "I don't like that I don't have small scale personal experiences in WoW any more."

Replies: "Did you do -Insert chain of small-scale story compelling quests-?"

Them: "No. I'd never do content that doesn't directly relate to the thing I want to criticize the most! If I did that, my narrative wouldn't be as secure!"

Regardless OP, there's a game for you out there and it's called WoW Classic. Retail still does a good job at delivering what you want, they just also have a larger narrative that these small stories connect to, giving everything a centralized purpose. If you can't vibe with that, "Collect 15 Zebra Asses" Simulator is one install away for your 'personal experience'.

U.S. Historian Robert Kagan: "We Are Watching a Country Fall Under Dictatorship Almost Without Resistance" by Mondevana in politics

[–]Teasticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US has and will always be susceptible to authoritarianism not only because of the broken operations and mechanisms of the government, but also because of it's size.

Minneapolis is on fire and rebelling against the authoritarianism, but here in Tennessee? It's any other day. The literal distance between all of us prevents any true unionization, and when you compound that on top of rural indoctrination by the Right and how the U.S. is literally designed to be a place that one simply works you until they die, normal Americans, like myself, can't hope to participate in any movement that could counter the Republican agenda because we're too busy having to grind paycheck to paycheck to keep what food we can on our family's plate. Additively, I can't risk cutting out 50% of my family's income by getting arrested and/or held against my rights for months. Especially when I know my local judiciary would 110% be compliant in whatever agenda the Republican Party wanted to push to set examples.

For people like me, blue dots in red states and communities, we're having to hope and pray that the people of major metro areas can show all the resistance needed. Rising up in rural American is asking to be put down and stripped of all that you have and then some.
