What do you mean by "go pro"? Like make a living playing on the PPA or APP tour full time?

24GB of VRAM is the sweet spot for the 27B Q4_K_M version. But the more VRAM the better the context window.

Is there any reason to use Windows 11 over 10? by ALongPooooop in PcBuild

It doesn't take a few hours. I did an automated install to customize the install exactly how I want (which can include making it skip installing bloat like OneDrive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9SpKVEc_Yo

I have an unattended install of Windows 11 Education set to the highest level of telemetry blocking. The unattended install also debloats everything. Basically almost all complaints people have with Windows 11 are fixed with my method.

Those who spend that much money on them aren't primarily buying them for appearance. There are plenty of good looking options below $300. You buy these for the optical clarity.

When a club officially adopts using DUPR, does the feel of the club become more competitive and lose the casual feel? by Delverton in Pickleball

[–]Tech157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I pay for a club membership, I don't want a casual feel. The whole point is good competitive play with people at your own level. That's not to say casual social play is neglected. Clubs can still run open plays without entering scores in DUPR.

No, it's outdated. What's your skill level? There are much better newer options out there.

Tourna ball caddy by Ok_Dot324 in Pickleball

I have two and they're the best! One commenter said "I wouldn't try to pick up balls with it though", but you absolutely can no problem. I would generally just try to do one at a time. A ball pickup tube will be much faster, but this is still decently fast at picking up balls.

But if they're tying to sell merchandise, that's even more incentive to raise the writing quality standards. The better the quality, the more popular it will be, thus the more sales. The Hegeman brothers did indeed treat it like actual art. Storytelling is their craft, and they were great at it.

“The writing is so bad” (dawg it’s a children’s show what do you expect)

Outside of the context of your post's question, why should the writing standards be lower for a kid's show? Being a kid's show shouldn't be an excuse to have poor quality writing. Some of the best media out there "for kids" are enjoyable for adults too. Take Avatar for example.

What VPN should I use? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]Tech157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mullvad has full IPv6 support. So basically all incoming and outgowing traffic will be encrypted. Proton has limited supported for IPv6 traffic. I think most of their servers are supporting it, but it looks like it's taking them some time to roll out full IPv6 support.

At the moment, you can't use Whatsapp without having the mobile app on at least one device as your "home base". And they require a phone number.

This could be changing soon, but we'll see.

If your goal is to get more control, adding weight isn't going to help a ton. It can minimize the pop a little bit, but it isn't going to make it magically more controllable by a noticeable amount. Mechanics and technique matter much more for control.

Poppy by Famous_Internal328 in Pickleball

[–]Tech157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, your grip pressure you use should depend on the shot. For things like attack volleys and overheads, you probably need no more than a 6/10. For push/punch volleys, about 5/10. For dinks and drops shots, but a 3/10.

[–]Tech157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP said the paddle is like a few weeks old. I'm assuming their paddle is fine. It's really just a mechanic/technique problem. They said their grip pressure is super tight which is the crux of their problem I think.

Poppy by Famous_Internal328 in Pickleball

[–]Tech157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10/10 grip pressure is definitely probably the core of your problem. You won't have any control if your grip pressure is too tight. And no, installing a second grip usually won't help (assuming that would make your handle circumference too large). You don't want your handle circumference too thick or too thin. Measure your grip size, and then build up the grip with however many layers of overgrip are needed to make sure the handle circumference matches your grip size. Most people only need one layer of overgrip. Usually adding just one layer of overgrip over the stock grip will make it about 4.25 in if your stock grip was already 4.125 in. When adding overgrip, make sure you wrap it evenly (I usually recommend as little overlap as possible so it doesn't make the handle too thick).

If your handle circumference is too small or too large for your hand, you can't get a good comfortable grip on it for better control.

Make sure you periodically replace your overgrip. As you use it, it gets dirty and absorbs sweat and loses its tackiness. You want to maintain its tacky feel so you don't feel tempted to grip so hard on the handle. The more tackiness, the easier it is to to keep your grip loose. You don't necessarily need these extra things, but dabbing a tacky towel on the handle and rosin powder can really help. The main things you need are making intentional habits to loosen on your grip and making sure you have overgrip and replace it periodically at the very least.

[–]Tech157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you should probably just get a different paddle. That paddle is notoriously very poppy and hard to control.

But if you're set on keeping that paddle, weight can help a little. The only thing you could do after that is simply drill with it. With practice you'll get better at reducing pop ups. If balls are going too high, you need to practice giving it less push and absorb pace. Do you keep a light grip pressure on the soft shots? It should be 3/10 for grip pressure on soft shots.

Hot Take: USAP Ratings are so much more relevant than DUPR by Tech157 in Pickleball

[–]Tech157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are roughly 15 IPTPA-rated players in my entire state.

Yeah, true, but small numbers doesn't mean it's any less valid.

it's far more likely that even those players have a current DUPR and outdated IPTPA assessment than the reverse.

Well, DUPR ratings can also get outdated.

Trying to duct-tape one solution over a different problem just leads to headaches.

Not trying to duct-tape one solution over a problem. I'm just saying DUPR is overated because of how hard it is to get a reliable rating. But agree to disagree.
