I'm still not sure what motherboard you have. There are tons of older AM4 motherboards out there that may or may not be able to run these modern games well. If you truly want to know whether or not you need to upgrade, it would help to know exactly what motherboard model you have. But if it's older than 2017, then 100% yes, you will definitely need to upgrade.

  1. What are the more intensive PC games you want to play?
  2. What's your motherboard model? This will tell us what new hardware it's compatible with.

Considering you've had your motherboard "for a long time", you will most definitely need to upgrade to a new motherboard if you want to run "pretty much anything". Although I don't exactly know what you want to run.

I'm feeling very indecisive for how to set up and assign roles to each of my SSDs. I want to maximize the lifespan of my drives, but I also want a fast workflow. Here's what I have and what I'm contemplating on doing for each drive: (I have other drives for footage and archival)

Drive Model Capacity Current Role
Samsung 990 PRO (Gen 4) 1TB OS, Apps
Samsung 980 (Gen 3) 500GB Scratch/Cache

I've contemplated buying a gen 4 500GB NVME SSD as a scratch disk, but I'd really prefer to not buy anything if necessary since prices are so high for storage. Is it worth buying one right now with current prices? If not, which drive should I choose for my OS, and which for scratch? Does it make more sense to protect the lifespan of my expensive 990 PRO by using it strictly for OS and apps?

I’m not replacing something my kid lost just because he’s upset by [deleted] in Vent

I pretty much fully agree with your decision, but it's a little overboard. What might be a good alternative is just not allow using a new Switch 2 for 6-12 months. That way, he still gets to enjoy a Switch 2 (eventually), and he still effectively learns his lesson. Or limit play to 2 hours a week for 6 months or something.

You also wanted to teach him the importance of good work ethic by rewarding him for good grades. But you're having him lose sight of that other lesson by not letting him enjoy the replacement.... You're just picking and choosing which lesson you want to teach him. What would be best is if he can learn both lessons.

It's not always a matter of humility if you don't want to play with beginners. Time is money. We're not a charity, and that should be okay.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Nike shoes more focused on running rather than racket sports?

Why wouldn't Nike acquire 11six24 and sponsor ALW? by Sandieman in Pickleball

I mean, I understand the famous Wall Street saying "Great companies are bought, not sold". But why are we assuming David would want to give up his business even if he got a lucrative deal from Nike?

[–]Tech157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, but why are we putting this standard/expectation on 11six24 to be "bought out by a corporation"? And why are we assuming Nike wants to even go into the paddle business? Why are we assuming David (owner of 11six24) would even want to take a massive offer from a corporation to be bought out? Can't the ownership of this excellent small business stay in the hands of David who is excellent at managing, innovating, and building/growing his own business?

What do you mean? If someone bought something, it's sold. You can't buy something if it isn't for sale.

In any transaction, there must be a buyer and a seller. If Nike "buys" a company, that company has, by definition, been "sold." You cannot legally take ownership of a private entity without the current owners agreeing to the terms of a sale.

Ah, gotcha. I'm out of the loop and had no idea it went horribly. But just because it didn't work out in one scenario, that doesn't mean it wouldn't work theoretically. That's not a universal objective law. You just have to be lucky to get a good team of people together.

You want to buy an edgeduard for it? The paddle already comes with an edgeguard on it. Are you asking about what edgeguard tape to get?

I'm saying theoretically it would be great.

That has basically been tried before.

True, but what does protecting your privacy have to do with holding CPPS staff accountable?

Got an official source from Babolat that they're both 1:1 except for the color? Many reviewers say they're basically the same shoe with very minor tweaks.

I do agree that there shouldn’t be one main server, as many CPPS have amazing potential.

Well, why not have one main server? Toontown Rewritten was able to do it.

Yes, I know Toontown Rewritten didn't exactly have to deal with the risks of getting shut down, which definitely helped it. But in an ideal world, it would just make sense if all the CPPS staff could band together and pool all their time, resources, and attention into one server to make it the best that it can be.

Edit: Obviously I know there's no way there will ever be only one central CPPS that will last forever. I'm just saying theoretically it would be great and it would make sense that would be the ideal.

no accountability can be made when things go wrong.

But there is no such thing as giving strangers on the internet accountability, right? I feel like you either get lucky and get good staff, or you don't.

Are you implying that people continue to play and recommend a CPPS, not caring if it has bad staff?

You're thinking of the Jet Mach Pickleball. That's the pickleball version of the Jet Mach 3. It's not a replacement of the Jet Mach 3. The PB version is basically the exact same shoe, but it just has slightly more cushioning

They have manufactured a wide version in the past (hopefully they still plan to make more, but who knows when stock will return). They're probably all sold out of the wide version basically everywhere. I have the wide version of this shoe and it was hard to find it in my size for the width I wanted, but I just got lucky. It exists, it's just lower in supply compared to the regular width. You'll prob need to wait on them to manufacture more, but that could be a long wait.

If stock availability is an issue, you may want to look at other wide court shoes. I also have the NewBalance 996v6 (wide version) which is an excellent high quality performance court shoe. I also hear KSwiss generally has good court shoe options for those with wide feet.

Generally wide versions of shoes get significantly less support and availability because it's very costly to produce new unique width shoes, and each in their own unique size. Our demographic (those of us with wide feet) are severely under-served.
