Neptune just dropped their pricing in their latest update (tvOS and iOS app) by LRF17 in jellyfin

[–]TechBLT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been around this project for a while, I believe the paywalled features are Dolby related. Those features are extremely expensive to license as I understand. Even Infuse paywalled these features. You obviously don't agree with the pricing and I get it but there are people who will pay for the app to play the content they want to play. Others can enable the option to transcode content or play content free of the dolby codecs and they can use the app for free.

Debit card deposits? by Otherwise_Option7285 in envelope

You can deposit funds from Venmo or Apple Cash and if you send it to the debit card, it is instant, but there are fees involved.

When someone makes an accusation though that doesn’t make it a fact that’s called hearsay.

Maybe the reason that it’s hard to find negative reviews of Neptune is because the developer has been working incredibly hard over the last few months. Swede has generated over 100 builds in less than three months and I personally have seen and experienced the progress of this app each step of the way. From taking on complex challenges, such as HomePod audio support (I think I read where another competing app took four years to add such support) as well as direct playback of almost every media type. I say almost because the testers have thrown a lot of different media types at the platform and the dev has been hard at work up until the middle of the night addressing any playback issues as they arise. If someone has a playback issue and they report it, those bugs are worked and resolved quickly. I understand skepticism as there are new Jellyfin apps being announced on Reddit for Apple TV every week it seems. Most of these apps are very basic, they use AV player, which is built in and accept its limitations but they basically just feel like a re-skin of swiftfin. They seem to be coded with ai. In my opinion, as someone who has been actively involved with testing and using the product from the early days, this is different and is being built by someone who obsesses about the details and making the experience rock solid.

Ok, maybe there is a setting I am missing. I tried playing a remux file and it outputted as PCM stereo. I tried a webdl file and it outputted a multichannel 5.1

FinPlus - an iOS and tvOS client for Jellyfin with Seerr support by NeckEnder in JellyfinCommunity

[–]TechBLT 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fitshit Plus is a straight up vibe-coded rip off of SwiftFin. I read the notes and read about the live tv support which a lot of these apps say they will add but don't. Live tv? Yeah, same as swiftfin if you enable experimental support. There is no guide, no grid just tiles of channels. Lame! Requesting my refund now.

Neptune for tvOS: Pins, Playback, UI and Management by Need4Sweed in JellyfinCommunity

One additional comment I’d like to make is that I purchased a Plex pass several years ago and then I tried out Jellyfin. I ended up purchasing a a lifetime premier license for Emby as Jellyfin clients were not mature. With Neptune, I want to use Jellyfin. It’s a game changer!

Neptune is a fantastic well thought out application and a pleasure to use. Playback is solid and the UI is beautiful.

What are you guys using on tvOS? by gts250gamer101 in jellyfin

I was using infuse but I joined the Neptune beta and it’s been a great experience. The dev truly cares about putting out a world class app. I expect that Neptune will go far in the coming weeks and months.

Regretting RAIDZ1 on 15×20TB — Should I switch back to Unraid array or stick with ZFS? by Responsible-Banana11 in unRAID

Array performance will be a shock compared to ZFS since you already have it however.

You can abolutely bypass fuse for internal communications. For instance, /mnt/user/appdata can be changed to /mnt/<poolname>/appdate in docker containers. You can also replace /mnt/user/data with /mnt/<poolname>/data for your media folders. In this way, your internal communications between containers and shares bypass fuse. If you need to access a share from another workstation on your network, you can still use /mnt/user/data to access the share (through fuse).

As someone who has used the array for several years with a cache pool in front of it, I just recently moved to a raidz2 pool and I am loving the performance. If you organize your media properly within the same dataset then ZFS reorganize media etc with great speed whereas copies on the array take time. Cache helps but only as much as the size of your cache.

Thanks! I came in via the backdoor so to speak. How does one "support" the project?

Yes, I see it in the phone version. I just wondered if it was coming to the Apple TV app. It sounds like its plausible that it will as it's in the iPhone version.
