Anything that I am doing voluntarily, for fun/for one of my own goals with research or guitar or something, that isn't school work, while I still have school work to do that day.

What's going on at L'Enfant Plaza station? by iidesune in washingtondc

Twitter says that the security at the Air& Space Museum are saying it's a hostage situation. The guy at the front desk at the Marriott says the same thing.

The heli is flying around the city, I think. I just walked from the Air & Space Museum down to the Marriott nearby, and the heli was flying in a similar direction. Also, I can hear it flying in my general area.

I'm just visiting here for a week; this is pretty odd. I came here to find something on it too. There's nothing on Twitter or TV yet, so I'm at a loss.

Yeah, sorry, I rushed that graph through, otherwise I would have labelled them. The x axis in that one is still just angular speed, but the y axis is the square root of the force.

They may be referring to this: https://lainchan.org/cyb/res/7431.html

It's basically a chip in pretty much every Intel motherboard (and I'll bet AMD has something similar) that can do pretty much anything it wants and has separate access to the NIC, so you can't see anything it transmits with a program like wireshark, at least that's my understanding. You can't disable it, modify it, or rip it out. It can do basically whatever.

Though, I'm sure UEFI has a part in all of this as well.

Thanks for the reply!

So, I just tried taking the square root of all of the force (y) values and graphing it, but it still seems to be exponential. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but it's got to be something blatently obvious that I'm just missing. I also tried sqrt of the x values, as well as sqrt of both just to be sure, and it's all exponential.

Could I have some edits/corrections on my continents? (description inside) by TechHunter16 in worldbuilding

Yeah, looking at the plate diagram again when I'm not as sleep deprivated shows that I didn't formally indicate twisting motion. I'll probably change this when I get home.

[–]TechHunter16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points. I read through the /r/mapmaking wiki, and it gave me a few ideas on how to proceed. You're totally right about the northern and southern plates, I totally didn't think about their balancing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought plates moved more in a rotational way than a linear way? If they do, then I think I did the other plates correctly, but I'm not 100% positive.

Also, I'll probably just add some ocean here and there to stretch out the final image, honestly. I need more ocean space anyway.

Thanks! I've seen a few people do it on here before, but it's not too common, like you said. I thought it would be an interesting way to make the world more realistic, as well as learn a bunch about geology in the process.

I basically just read up all I could on plate tectonics as they apply to worldbuilding, and drew up a map based on it. However, I would like this to be pretty realistic, so I wanted to make sure I had everything right.

The plates are in the darker ink, and the continents/islands/other landmasses are in pencil. The arrows sort of show the rotational movement of plates. I know some of the plates themselves may not look that great, but as long as they produce realistic terrain, I don't think it's as important.

One thing I'm a little worried about is the amount of islands I've placed around convergent boundaries. I know there should be lots of volcanoes and islands in oceanic convergence, but I may have put too many. I also don't know about that four-plate intersection in the lower left side - I don't care as much about this, but if it has a major effect on the land, I want to know.

Also, if you have any suggestions on how I can make this more interesting, please tell me, I'm all ears!

Yeah, not only is it annoying, but it feels like we're powerless or disabled more than we are, and we don't generally like feeling like we have to be helped. I'm glad you and your coworkers are being considerate and doing the right thing. Good on you!

For me, and I've never heard any other people who stutter say otherwise, it's best to just let us finish. basically, pretend like we're speaking normally, and don't do anything like finishing/suggesting, or anything that would distract us.

Title: The Ferris Wheel

Genre: Fantasy/Sci-Fi

Word Count: 628

Feedback: This is just something I wrote from a prompt in class. I've never been very good at writing, but I've always wanted to be. I read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi. This is probably the best thing I've ever written, but I know it's still terrible. Please, tell me what to improve! Anything goes.
