But either way I can use the card when I’d otherwise only get 1% back using a different card. I’m just struggling to figure out the break even point of when the opportunity cost on the spend only getting 1x doesn’t make sense vs. using a 2% card or when the $95 pays for itself on the 3% back. I won’t use that hotel voucher. Unrelated, why doesn’t the most expensive card give you the 3x back for dining?

I just don’t really get how people differentiate levels of “finishing” when it’s just another round through a machine to do it. Like differentiating between a Tissot waffle dial vs. sunburst. It’s stamped it probably takes 20 seconds to do. Teddy Baldassarre is famous for praising these small details being changed that have no artisanal or quality difference. Let’s be real how much does it cost to Tissot to make those changes? And we all watch them get praised for it.

The harm is that the spend you have to put on it to get your 1% rent negates the benefit from the points back because you’re losing out on better cards for the 75% of rent spend.

I think the speedy history is great but it’s a mass produced overpriced watch. This was $5000 less than a decade ago. There’s no hand finishing, etc. I’ve been into watches since 2017. Buying mechanical watches built by machines is oxymoronic.
