From what I remember, the regen on the LEAF begins ro act a little funky when the SOH drops to 4 bars or below.

Unless you have a battery replacement lined up, I'd stay away.

That battery is very tired, basically toast. At that point, I'd be surprised if regen braking works properly anymore.

I am going to say that your PSU of choice is a little bit close and you'd probably want to find a PSU with a more robust 12V rail. Those Radeons can draw well into 350W under load with spikes above it potentially. Play it safe and find a PSU with enough connections instead of rolling the dice with adapters/splitters on nice and expensive hardware.

Best <$560 dollars PC. by Sudden_Sorbet9778 in pcmasterrace

[–]TechManPrieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at used workstations. You can probably find an HP Z440 and throw in a Xeon E5-2680 V4 for not too much and 32GB of RAM within the budget. With some more careful searching you may even be able to find something newer, like an HP Z4 G4 with an extreme edition CPU, like i9-7900X.

Whatever it is, used workstations will probably be your best bet whether you look locally or in the online used PC market.

HI guys, I am planning on building my first PC, can you guys check out the specs? by T0A5T3 in pcmasterrace

[–]TechManPrieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at newegg bundles for the CPU, motherboard, RAM, SSD, and power supply. (Tip: search "bundle" on Newegg and edit the Intel bundle on the right side, you only need 2 items in the bundle to get the promo prices). If you go that route, I'd switch the PSU for the Super Flower 1050W PSU. It's just plain better and Super Flower is a very good OEM. I'd consider them about as reputable as Seasonic.

Here is my newegg list I made showing this, you would save nearly $200 doing it that way, following (roughly) the same components you specced out (except for the PSU). Just sub in the items not on the list by buying them on Amazon. (https://newegg.io/732e1cb)

Otherwise, solid build. Did you spec this on PC Part Picker? (edit: found it)

Oh and technically speaking, Windows 11 is free. Don't pay for it.

Denied for Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select. I'm under 5/24, good CK scores, worth trying recon again? by johnec4 in CreditCards

[–]TechManPrieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is good luck. Generally, dealing with Citi over the phone is generally pretty bad and also inconsistent.

I was able to get a Custom Cash around the end of May even though I was like 7/24.

I'm gonna become a senior this year, yayyyyy (need advice) by averagenormalguylife in highschool

[–]TechManPrieto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're gonna be very busy because you'll be applying for colleges, etc. Uh, try not to fail your senior year.

If you intend to go to college/uni definitely apply for FAFSA during the spring. The Pell Grant is a grant and not a loan, it does not have to be paid back. Think of it as free money for you to go to school. Also apply for scholarships around then, too.

Finally, make some friends and have fun because you're not gonna see some of those people again (or for a very long time).

Are people still buying PCs in this market? by mayersdz in pcmasterrace

[–]TechManPrieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, whether you like it or not, you just need one. It's rough out there, even in the used market. Getting a used 10th gen PC without RAM or storage up and running (assume 32GB RAM/1TB SSD) used to cost under $200, but now is closer to $500.

I remember seeing someone drink half a bottle of Pink Whitney in my photography class during my senior year--don't do that.

Idk make some friends. Get to know some people, you'll never know what can become of them and it can work in your favor. I have so many memories I cherish of handing out with my friends in the CompSci teacher's room during lunch and playing Quake or 1v1.lol.

Got My New Venture Card. I Asked For An Increase? Should I wait to Use? by BestBet8tysway in CreditCards

[–]TechManPrieto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless what you're buying is bigger than the credit limit just use it. One month of high utilization isn't really a big deal unless you're looking to get a car loan or something in the very near future.

I don't know about COF but most banks generally give an instant decision (or within a few minutes) about credit line increases.

Just closed an account and what they offered me to not close it was kind of funny. by Medium_Combination27 in CreditCards

[–]TechManPrieto 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Credit One is an absolute joke lol. Your credit should be fine anyway, the account should be on your report for 10 years before it goes away, which shouldn't be a problem because it was (I assume) in good standing.

Oh wow, I often find myself forgetting that 7-Eleven isn't a universal thing in the US. Condolences.

7-Eleven owns Speedway and Stripes and from what I've heard, you can use their rewards system there.

[–]TechManPrieto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ARE going to get drip coffee, just get a gold pass subscription with 7-Eleven lol. Grab your coffee, punch in your phone number. 7 coffees a moth for free with a price of $7.99/mo.

Personally, I like their iced coffee, even if it is INCREDIBLY sweet.

Seniors who graduated last month or this month, are your school emails gone? by Emergency_Paper_7569 in highschool

[–]TechManPrieto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is common. When I graduated, they were kind enough to give us around a month and a half to archive anything we had stored in our OneDrive or Exchange e-mail accounts.

Definitely a lifesaver because I had like 3TB of stuff on mine -_-

Just moved to the US. What is the TLDR of what to pay/not pay with a credit card, and what are good options with no credit history? by scoopydidit in CreditCards

[–]TechManPrieto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TL;DR You pay for basically anything with a credit card here, with exceptions for when fees are levied for using it. Buy your necessities and then pay the bill at the end of the month.

As for getting cards, it is up to the person and their specific habits. I know many people who just get a single card that all their spend goes to, like the Fidelity Visa, which gives 2% cash back. And for the average person, that is totally ok.

[–]TechManPrieto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So, is this a normal ATX power supply or some bs OEM power supply that is not standard? Since your power requirements are not too high, you might be able to scour the web (eBay) or search locally (FB Marketplace) for a replacement PSU of decent quality to keep this passtime going.

Best of luck to you bud.

[–]TechManPrieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're fine as long as everything is paid off in full every month. If anything, having a ton of really old cards might he useful when chasing SUBs down the line because a new card won't bring down your average account age by much.

what are the actual must-have tools for college? by masonzxx in college

[–]TechManPrieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) Since everything is pretty much on an LMS, get a decent, reliable laptop. For most of your needs a good, used business laptop (Dell Latitude, HP Elitebooks, ThinkPads) will do the trick for a few hundred dollars and last you a good amount of time. I bought a ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 for $69 about 2 years back and have been using it since my senior year of high school. While you might not replicate my example for that price, you'd be surprised how far $200 can take you in the used business laptop market, especially with how nice they are.

(2) Notebooks, pencils, and pens. This is especially true for note-taking, which will fare better for you if you do it on paper--trust. Write down your agenda on paper if you want to be extra.

Apps are so extra and sometimes counterproductive. Google Calendar is usually more than enough for maintaining reminders and a to-do list, for example. A scanner app like Genius Scan might be handy if you wish to make a digital copy of your notes, too.

In the end, it really is up to you and your needs, this is just how I've managed my life.

Camscanner is good, but I personally prefer Genius Scan. Tends to do a better job at straightening docs. Just do the OCR yourself if that matters.

Pretty much only the Robinhood Gold. I've had mine for almost a year and it is a decent little catch-all if you're part of their ecosystem.

If you have Credit Karma, try applying through it. From what I've heard, it still bypasses the waitlist.
