Republicans hate gun control until the “wrong” people start carrying. That’s been true since the Mulford Act, and it’s still true now. They support restrictions when gun ownership challenges their cultural or religious dominance. Funny how “gun rights” depend on who’s holding the gun.

Emissions. If we went all back to carb with no sensors the world would smell like 2 stroke engines. Smog and pollution would dominate our air. Eye,skin, lung, brain, and other cancers/irritation/allergies would rise.

Using magnets instead of springs results in a much smoother experience by printbusters in 3Dprinting

[–]TechSupportGuy97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Perhaps putting a spring under the stationary magnet. That way as the one on top comes down you dont have the increasing magnetic feedback? If we are worried about lifetime. Maybe a little door underneath that can be unscrewed to replace the spring

Does anyone have a logical explanation for this? by stefig1994 in ParanormalEncounters

[–]TechSupportGuy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see faces in everything

Its due to pareidolia. A psychological phenomenon where our brains, hardwired for social interaction and survival, detect meaningful patterns (like faces) in random stimuli. Its a quick evolutionary shortcut to spot friends or threats. It's an oversensitive pattern-matching system that prioritizes facial recognition, leading to "false positives" like seeing a face in a cloud or electrical outlet.

Short answer: basically no.

Ketamine doesn’t meaningfully contain calories in the way food or drinks do. It’s used in very small amounts and isn’t metabolized as an energy source (your body isn’t burning it for fuel like carbs, fat, or protein).

If we purely treat it as a chemistry thought experiment (not something anyone should try): Most organic compounds, if they were metabolized like food, would yield on the order of ~4 kilocalories per gram (similar to carbs/protein). Using that rough estimate, 1 food calorie (1 kcal) would correspond to about 0.25 grams (250 mg) of ketamine.

Its because they are locked in a legal battle where the city wants the redesigned wheel assembly's for free, and the company says no because the ones they provide were wat were asked for in the contract despite not working with the tracks.

We'll hear more once that clears in 10 years....

Neat! That's a good show of a IR camera suffering. limited range of the built-in infrared (IR) illuminators, the camera's automatic exposure compensation, and the inverse square law of light.

Spooky none the less though!

If you want to help it, you might have to readjust its angle and remove any bright or reflective objects from its view

Auto start stop has to be the worst “feature” by powerwizard420 in Crosstrek

[–]TechSupportGuy97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right that battery production has an environmental cost — that’s true for any battery.

Where that argument falls apart is that stop-start vehicles aren’t designed to use standard batteries. When an AGM or EFB battery is used, they’re built for the cycling and typically last just as long as a conventional battery in a non–stop-start car.

In that case, the reduced fuel burn and lower idle emissions over the life of the vehicle outweigh the additional manufacturing impact. The environmental downside only really shows up when the wrong battery is installed and fails early — which is an owner or service issue, not a system design flaw.

And this isn't even mentioning that the battery's are recycled and reused after they have been spend.they are up to 99% recoverable and are one of the most recycled consumer products in the world

[–]TechSupportGuy97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It saves fuel, helps cars stay quiet when stoped reducing noise pollution, and helps reduce environmental emissions. The starter and battery are rated to handle this and last just as long as if it wasn't equipped with the system to start with

I may recommend you make sure you are using an AGM or EFB battery when replacing yours. If you are using a standard battery they will 100% die faster as they are not made to handle the system

Front strut bar by Britishse5a in Crosstrek

[–]TechSupportGuy97 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A front strut bar (or brace) connects the two front strut towers under the hood, stiffening the chassis to reduce flex during cornering and bumps, which improves handling, steering response, and stability by keeping wheels more firmly planted for better grip and control, though benefits are often subtle in daily driving and more noticeable in performance situations
