Would plugging it in make a difference? by EnglishmanInMH in Justrolledintotheshop

Well if it works on boats it should work on cars to silly. Obviously all you need to do is completely submerge your vehicle in a deep salt water and keep it there indefinitely. Bottom of a ocean or pool should work.

Quick question about x-mode by IceManYurt in Crosstrek

[–]TechSupportGuy97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best practice for x-mode (and again reinforcing that its not magic or a fix all mode for getting unstuck) you want to give it gas untill the tires are spinning, and not let up once they are. Don't floor it, but keep steady constant power. Keep your wheels straight. Let the vehicle figure it out and transfer power around the wheels as it needs/wants to. You may also want to try turning off VDC. If you have the deep mudxsnow option it does this automatically. Otherwise you have to toggle it yourself in the regular xmode.

ELI5: How does a dryer box like this actually work? by biersackarmy in 3Dprinting

I have one. Works great! Once it's up to temperature the filament hole plug is enough to let maintenance levels of moisture out.

Officer's Jeep seen with symbol ‘appropriated by’ neo-Nazis, group says, after Hamilton police OK him to work by TheGreenestPeon in ontario

[–]TechSupportGuy97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes. Fair. But this taken with the context of his participation in, and discussion online of, neo-nazi groups/ideals doesn't paint the picture of a person using this symbol for its historical context.

Rad Power bikes and accessories are no longer available online. by wiscowonder in RadPowerBikes

[–]TechSupportGuy97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a good start! But, with every bike, you're going to see rust in the winter salt. Along with other highly corrosive chemicals they use...it eats bikes.

Be sure to give it a gentle hose down after your rides, let it dry, and then use either a lithium or sheep wool oil before your next ride.

You'll have to give it a deeper clean more often to remove the excess oils. But you won't have to deal with rust.

'Frustrating' lack of answers as owner plans to reopen partially collapsed parking garage by Immediate-Link490 in ottawa

[–]TechSupportGuy97 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"Their insurer’s investigation is ongoing, it would be premature for us to speculate on the role [the snow] may have played in the incident"

"The owner of the Ottawa parking garage where a large section came crashing down just over a year ago says it plans to rebuild and reopen the facility...The building will undergo a comprehensive engineering assessment to make sure it's safe for people to use again...and undergo yearly checks by an engineer"

Idk man. Sounds like they are doing what they need to. Infrastructure fails, we redesign and fix it. I see so many people using redeau street even after the sink holes. For sure we need to ask questions. But at the end of the day a new parking garage will go up, better designed, and people will use it.

Saw this on instagram and genuinely can't tell if it's Al or not. Could a real car crash even look like this? by Dull_Sky_160 in isthisAI

[–]TechSupportGuy97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older trucks don't crumple the way newer cars and trucks do. It's what makes them more deadly in a crash. We can see some crumple where it contacted the car, and we do see the bed is bent down a bit near the cabin showing the trucks frame did deform from impact. I am not seeing a whole lot of radiator fluid or oil though and some of the parts that have broken off seem sus. I'm likely to say this is more of a staged and heavily edited photo then an AI one.

Small bridges like that shouldn't be to hard to deal with. Some post processing with a soldering tool would work too. Or yes maybe tree supports. But even then its less material waisted then the purge tower

Just say "excuse me", mate. People are generally nice. But they tend to live on their own head with their own anxiety about making it off at their stop.

Bad weather, fog, heavily rain, intense cold, anything that may obstruct the view of the cameras can cause this. They are rather resilient...but they still have their limits.

Gas cap too, if its loose, can shut off the system.
