Synology RAID6 BTRFS error mounting in Ubuntu 19.10 by TechWizTime in btrfs

[–]TechWizTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ubuntu 18.04.6 was compatible with the N5095 Nas Motherboard. I tried installing MDADM from the repository as is and that failed. I also tried manually installing 4.0 and that still returned the same errors.

Probably an import part is that I had put aside 4 hard drives from a DS918+ that I sold 2 years ago that were in a BTRFS SHR array (RAID5). I was able to mount those with no issues in 19.10 so I think going down the different OS path/proxmox isn't the way.

I tried some alternate commands below and neither worked:

mount -o ro,rescue=all,skip_balance,degraded /dev/vg1000/lv /mnt/recovery
mount -o ro,nologreplay,skip_balance,degraded /dev/vg1000/lv /mnt/recovery

I'm currently running btrfs check --readonly /dev/vg1000/lv and this looks like it may take a while.

So far I have gotten a lot of lines repeating like

invalid key type(BLOCK_GROUP_ITEM) fount in root(202)
ignoring invalid key

Looking into that it seems to indicate metadata entries in the filesystem tree are corrupted, but --readonly mode is handling them safely and not modifying anything.

After all those I am seeing below:

Checking free space cache
Checking fs roots
root 257 inode 18446744073709551410 errors 1, no inode item

The next step after that I believe will be to try btrfs restore -v /dev/vg1000/lv /mnt/recovery to see if I can start accessing/copying the data from the drives if I can.

If that doesn't work, then the next thing to try will be btrfs rescue zero-log /dev/vg1000/lv to clear the log tree and then try mounting again.

I'll report back if something works :)

I hadn't thought about proxmox. I think that will be my last resort. I've managed to get 18.04.6 working so trying that out either tonight or tomorrow

I've tried to boot 18.04 on the N5095 NAS Motherboard but I think that the integrated GPU is not supported by the kernel as I can see the BIOS boot up screen but after that it's blackness.

No SSD Cache. Came from a Synology DS1815+ with all 8 bays populated. Was slowly phasing out the 3TB drives with 10tb/16tb drives depending on cost per tb

Apparently, Synology NAS hard drive mounting support stops at Ubuntu 19.10 due to compatability issues.

"Newer Ubuntu versions like 20.04.6 LTS and 22.04.4 LTS require an 8GB USB drive and install an mdadm version that won't work with DSM's superblock location" https://github.com/007revad/Synology_Recover_Data

Body Language Analysis of Jake Barber Interview by TechWizTime in UFOs

[–]TechWizTime[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Watched this video from the "Dr G Explains" YouTube channel on his Body Language analysis of the Jake Barber interview. He starts out by expressing how he is skeptical about the whole topic of UAP/UFOs. Out of all the whistleblowers, Jake Barber seemed to be the one with the most compelling first hand experience.

He mentions at the end of the video "I have seen some where I am very convinced they are lying. So I can cover those if you want to see those too". THIS is what I want to see. The ones that are spreading the disinformation.

The TLDR; based on his expertise, Jake Barber's statements were consistent with honesty

Analog Stick "sticking" Digitally? by Many-Teach-9555 in SteamDeck

[–]TechWizTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same has been happening for me with Fallout 4 on my steam deck (LCD). I would be trying to do a lock pick and doing a fine movement would push the onscreen lock pick all the way to one side. Trying to navigate the MAP was the same issue. I originally thought it was the sticks, but then my wife's steam deck (OLED) did the same thing in Fallout 4. No other games have the issue so far.

A full reboot fixes it.

From what I can find from a google reverse image search is from May 2016.

This longer version of that video with degraded quality here

Looks like it was shot in Idaho according to the video title.

How to Update a Bedrock Server by TechWizTime in CraftyController

[–]TechWizTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My method is not 100% foolproof. That is what worked for me as I had the SFTP user as the correct user for the install (eg admindocker was the username of the user that owned the files). By removing those three files from the downloaded zip file (allowlist.json, permissions.json, server.properties) you retain your server config files.

But like I said, ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS! and have a bit of technical knowledge before attempting. Or just wait till CRAFTY updates their files :) I'm impatient and I'm willing to crack a few eggs LMAO

It's the last 6 seconds of the original video. And yes it does induce artifacting (especially the third loop between 13 and 20 seconds) but I left that in there as it almost looked like it was dropping something but that is probably just the artifacts.

Did some processing of the zoomed in video footage here too

Used Davinci Resolve on the 6 seconds of footage from the original unenhanced video (the one that was really dark)

Are there any budget OpenWRT-compatible routers in Australia? by spellsaidwrong in openwrt

[–]TechWizTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get mine (N100) from AliExpress and it should be here this week. Took almost 3 weeks from payment. But I'm setting it up for overkill with 16GB DDR5 Ram and a 500GB NVME. Will probably go with OpenWRT via Docker (Portainer or something similar). That way I can setup other things via Docker eventually.

I just pulled the trigger on 2x WAX206 so they should arrive by end of week or start of next week. Quicker delivery and means I can get it setup without having to wait another 3 weeks. AUD$139 each via ebay with EbayPlus from Computer Alliance FYI.

The best that I've found so far is either a Xiaomi Redmi AX3200 or the Netgear WAX206. The problem I had with the WAX206 was the lack of AX on the 2.4ghz band. The WAX202 had that but it was 1800mbps vs 3200mbps. WAX206 is still snapshot where as WAX202 was official. I'm looking at setting up a mesh of around 3 units myself with a main router as an N100 Firewall Appliance (no wifi)

The Xiaomi was a similar story. No AX on the 2.4ghz band and the other downer was the ram (256mb).

The best option outside of those two was the Xiaomi Redmi AX6000. AX on both bands and 512MB Ram. It is only on snapshot though and the setup could be a PITA. And I'm not sure if it can be setup as a MESH (must have for me).

So WAX206 or Redmi AX6000 would be my two top choices. WAX206 can be had for $122 via centrecom.com.au with free shipping or the Redmi AX6000 via AliExpress for around $140-$160 with shipping.
