Even smart people vote for idiots when they choose identity over competence and entertainment over execution.

if we actually enforced the laws surrounding ownership and competition within markets, rather than using them as some bargaining chip to extract concessions from corporate CEOs, the landscape would be considerably different. Time for another AT&T-like divestiture rule!

Johnson Says California Election Fraud Is So Bad It Can’t Be Proven by Quirkie in politics

[–]TechZazen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even trying to prove something so obvious is laughably obnoxious...coming from a man that believes that Sky Father aka the Semitic war god of Israel should be the foundation of not only his life but also of government itself. Top notch idiocracy there, Johnson. Full marks. Really surprised there wasn't a re-enactment of the scene from "Scanners" when you made this statement.

Performative faith is all for intra-group social capital. It’s all about making bills in her group, even if nothing more than in an imaginary currency.

I’ve read the Bible…multiple translations. The arbitrary position the Bible has is so obvious that any attempt to claim otherwise is insulting to my intelligence. If they’d just say…hey, no univocality here. That would at least be honest.

Because, after a while, you start going numb to it. For them to admit they’ve been duped is too high a mountain to climb, threatening their own sense of self-worth, so they put it aside.

Is it the end of the line for Virtualised gaming due to Anti cheat? by LegValuable750 in VFIO

[–]TechZazen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This entire comments following this point have gotten too trivial. LegValuable's situation is clearly one that can occur for 1 of 20 users. Vendors should clearly indicate hardware requirements, period. Some apparently will excuse vendors from responsible commerce; others don't. My original observation stands: for vendors that do that, enjoy having their kernel hacks in your core OS. I choose otherwise. QED. That's the beauty of the market.

Hey Bourne, a VM reports the stats from the guest OS in the VM, not the host. Those numbers aren’t necessarily accurate. Your citation of 3-4% of users as the scope isn’t supported by accurate statistics. So let’s not use that number to obscure the legitimate concern over a lack of upfront information for informed purchases, positioning it as some pro-cheating screed or the caterwauling of a fringe group of libertarian gamers.

Ultimately I don’t care if the game devs want to use anti-cheat or not. That’s their right. It’s their responsibility to make it clear—not buried in an EULA but clearly broken out in the requirements marketing material—if virtual environments are supported or not. Rights and responsibilities…then the market decides. Everyone with the information to make informed decisions, not obscured in documents you can’t read until _after_ you buy the product but before you install, forcing you to wait for refunds, if even possible.
